This is brilliant! I was just having this idea myself, searched youtube to see if anyone else had thought of it and found your video. I just wonder how small of a quadcopter I could get to carry a 10 oz setup with weight and bait combined.

I have the world's only RC sea boat bait dropper - made right here in South Africa. Even though it is a great invention and good fun, it doesn't always make it through the surf without a tangle - could be my sailing skills. When I bought my P3, one of my objectives was to turn it into a bait dropper but I wasn't clear on how to set up the carry/release system. Was going to make it a fancy servo based contraption, but I love your simple idea. One thing that does worry me is an attack by hungry seagulls. Anyone had a problem with them - and a cure? With our exchange rate being so sh!t, I cant afford to drown my P3.

The future of fishing. You wont need to get a 1000$+ boat anymore. Just get a drone and tell it where to drop the bait an you're good. You can just tell it where to drop too. So you can locate a school of where the fish are feeding and just drop it right there. Genius idea.

I am in the market of getting a drone for fishing ( taking my casting bait out to deeper water ) I read that the Phantom 3 professional can take more payload than the Phantom 4 . I am in two minds , any advice maybe ..... Phantom 3 Pro or Phantom 4

How often have you used this technique to deploy your baits? I've thought about doing this same thing for my surf/shark fishing. Do you recommend it? Do conditions have to be perfect?

I've used it to put out probably 150 lines in winds up to 30 mph.

Any plans to film the fight/beaching process from the air? That would be a cool video.

I tested it with 16 ounces. It could have lifted more but I didn't really need it to lift anymore than that.

James Christerson can't fly within 5 miles of an airport pretty much, don't fly while intoxicated, keep away from groups of people etc..

It's not the current that we are fighting. This area has a lot of seaweed in the surf. Once it hits your line it will pull up your set.

Hey i just tried the same thing and ended up losing it all in the water. I used a servo to deploy the line, everything worked well but I couldn't tell how high above the water I was. If you want to check it out head over to my channel.

I hope this method of fishing becomes illegal. Don't you think we have enough technical advantages over the fish already? There won't be any fish left in 20 years if this goes unchecked. Yeah, I know< there are bag limits and size slots to keep that from happening. But if people start sight fishing using drones it's game over, just wait.

Wtf calm down , it's just like the same advantage people with kayaks have, about 1% of fishers actually use this method , I don't think everybody's gunna start buying $1500 drones to get a farther cast ,

I just bought a drone to do this exactly I seen it and said I have to have it ..... so in the part of saying people are not going to buy drones for this ....well I just did lmao ..... it funner and don't have to get wet and cost a bought the same of a good kayak
