Discovered this song zooming through the south island of New Zealand in a camper van with my wife sleeping in the seat next to me, having just got married after 12 years together. Will always be special to me.

The way I relate to this song and my interpretation of it is; I put my work in with my fiancé. I tried to make things work with her. I loved her and when things started going south I held on tightly for longer than I should have. But in the end, she didn’t want the time I wanted to give to her. She didn’t appreciate the work I put into our relationship to try to solve the issues we were having. She didn’t want me. For a while that really broke my heart. But I realize now, I’m not the one losing anything. She chose for herself to walk away when things got tough the last year. I looked for every reason I could to hold on. I wanted her to want my time. But I realize I was wrong for sacrificing my own happiness to work so hard for someone who isn’t willing to put in the work for me. Life will go on and someday I will find the woman who wants to put the same work in that I am willing to. Thanks for reading.

You aren’t alone bro! That’s why I laugh when I see all the memes talking trash on men! I raised two sons and I’ll tell you right now they are so much sweeter than anyone’s daughter! Men are romantic and very compassionate typically! Women actually want more than that or they want a someone to treat them poorly one of the two and there are no exceptions!
