Im a stage hand. Seen alot of bands, heard ALOT of music live. Ohana festival 2022 Brittany and her band came and played mid afternoon main stage. Until then i hadnt heard of her. Myself and 4 of my other stage hands who were on break enjoyed her set from the eagles nest backstage. I couldn't move, i couldn't speak. Literally took my soul for a ride unlike it had ever been on before. They played this song about halfway through their set and this one brought me to my knees! FOREVER A BRITTANY AND ALAMABA SHAKES FAN!!!

I personally love the feral cat sounds that mince out of the much hated Ms. Joanna Newsom. Also, the female lead of Carolina Chocolate Drops (can't remember her name o- o) has a badass southern singin' voice a lot like Brittany. Good music NEEDS to xome back to the forefront. .... I wish to do inhuman things to radio devices, (depraved, horrible things,) even when I know they don't control the insufferable noise that is deemed popular and diarrhea'd out of their speakers. Sorry F. Mercury All I hear is Radio kaka.

I will be honored to listen to this song during the next six or seven months of my treatments. I thank Alabama Shakes for sending me this message. P.S. It doesn't hurt that I'm an Alabama girl! P.P.S. Here's my update. I've held on! Still around, had a recurrence, post traumatic GROWTH (how bout that!?!?). On immunotherapy and doing well. Love to all of you who sent me love and prayers and good vibes. I had no idea so many of you reached out until today, my 3 year anniversary). Wish I could reply individually to you. Nah, not gold. More like someone melted down a big chunk of rusty iron and added some honey to it. I mean that all in a good way. Gold is like some pop singer. This chick has some pipes and a roughness to her singing. Been listening to them most of the morning with my 1 year old daughter, dancing and singing along. Hoping I can get her started on the good stuff so she doesn't get into just the pop stuff that her friends are into when she gets older. I was listening to 60's 70's rock and old blues before I was a teenager and never got into most of the contemporary music of my youth. Fortunately I moved before high school and it was cool to like that music at the new school.

Hey thanks for inspiring me. I'm 58, and every day I somehow live in this place, where I gotta hold on... and damn, I feel like the whole world looks at me funny, I just gotta hold on. Fighting many forms of character defects, addictions, and other issues designed to kill my spirit... the song lets me know what I gotta do. These comments listed here let me know I'm not alone. And what I gotta hold on to, that's the interesting part. I gotta hold on to something not so easily touched, not so easily seen. Sometimes it's hope, sometimes it's God, sometimes trust, and often times I don't know what, but the energy of it is captured in this song. I heard this on Rage TV at about 6-7 am at the end of a huge night of partying, you know when you're feeling all the effects at once and you're emotionally fragile like you can't believe... I could tell by the drums and the intro that it was going to be something special, but I wasn't prepared for how utterly spellbound I was by the raw emotion of her voice and the quality of the musicians in the band. It was one of the few songs ever that genuinely blew my mind the first time I heard it. It left me speechless with my jaw on the floor. AMAZING.

I'm from Boston, Massachusetts and I remember hearing this for the first time on WAAF while at work and immediately got the chills and fell in love with the lyrics and emotion in her voice and the whole band's delivery of this song!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!! Thank you Alabama Shakes for such a beautiful, truthful and inspiring song!!!

I'm from Boston too and I grew up with WAAF and WBCN. So many great memories of listening to the radio in the car or at home in my room. I was so sad when WBCN closed them mad when WAAF closed too.

@@rockydennis4497 he rode around on his bike a lot for sure, what year did he pass if you don’t mind me asking? Was he still in Azusa when he did? I saw the movie about him when it came out, but it’s been so long ago now! And how great that you use his name as your handle! 😊
