    The gain knob is a placebo, it goes from 11 to 11

    Ok this demo of the TC Electronic Eyemaster is much better and improved over the one TC Electronic did. This sounds killer!

    I've noticed on the other demo videos that they were trying to use a pedal specifically for Swedish death metal to play old school thrash

    @@GimmeapillEko That is about as much out of place as when the Tone King did a demo of some high gain metal distortion pedals like the Digitech Death Metal & was playing a riff sounding like Dokken! 😒

    Yeah, I was looking for a cheap distortion pedal, but this one is probably a bit more distortion than I'm looking for. Also, I'm getting it for a bass, not a guitar, so those brutal distortion effects would probably make a bass too muddy to be heard clearly. I guess maybe getting an Ampeg combo amp with their overdrive for some grit would probably suite me best.

    Cool video, who better to demo the Eyemaster distortion pedal than Denmark's own death metal greats Baest, and a very good band for old school death metal in general. GREAT dark melodic riff at the start of 'Crosswhore', reminds of early Pestilence, so cool how they mix that with the more Swedish style death metal, great mix of styles. \m/ \m/ \m/

    I really like this tone! It's not too far off from the HM-2 but it has some clarity. But is it played through the crunch or lead channel? Or is this through the clean channel of the amp?

  • @BAESTband

    @BAESTband

    We are using the crunch channel of our amps. The eyemaster works as a filter, rather than a distortion pedal - the gain is easier to control on the amp, if you want some clarity, but maintain the mid chainsaw punch!

    @@BAESTband this seems to be the modern way to dial these HM-2 style pedals. Night Bearer do this on the HM-2 too.

    So we all know - this killer sound is being played through the "Crunch" Channel of their amps - so it's not the direct pedal distortion we are hearing. This is not to undermine this great tone - but it's important for people to hear it in another clean scenario.

    I also would like to know this. You can see a Sovtek amp head on top of the speaker cabinet in the background, those are very good Russian built amps, but I cannot tell if that is what was used for this video, so hopefully we get an answer.

    From your experience with the HM2, how does this compare and hold up to the HM2 in-person? Would it be comparable to the original well sought after Japan black label version? Thanks!

    The Eyemaster holds it’s own against the HM-2 (if thats possible against a legendary tone - some would argue it isnt.) It has a more controllable feel to it, but lacks some High-end, for those searching for the ultimate gory buzzsaw. Our use for it, is for the clearer hm-2 filter, that allows notes to stand out. (Blend those tracks with a maxed out japanese version, then you’ve found gold!).

    Honestly, i've heard the Japanese, Taiwanese, and multiple clones. I gotta say there's no "magic" one, they all have slightly different frequency things that can be good or bad, you just have to find the one that you like with your rig the most. It makes it kinda fun collecting them for that purpose! cheers.
