    this is a good tutorial with lots of good points, and i like the way it emphasizes a kinetic flow of energy. i have three critical remarks: 1) you mentioned that the kinetic flow starts with hip rotation, but actually it begins from the floor with leg power. it's this energy that rotates upward and is ultimately transferred to the shuttle at the top of the kinetic chain. for an example of this look @1:23 where you lower your weight deeply into your dominant leg to initiate the sequence. i point this out because most players below the advanced level are extremely resistant to using the legs. they usually want it to be easier than that, but they need to understand it's hard work and it's always going to be hard work and that is why we play, because we want to do that work 2) i do not see it taught this way every often, but for me the cleanest transfer of energy with the highest strike point and the deepest and most natural rotation comes from swinging very close to the centerline of my body, rather than off to the dominant side. this is not such a popular technique but i do recommend players at least try it out and observe how it changes their swing, 3) the main problem players below the advanced level have with any of the overhead shots is the failure to move their bodies quickly enough to get behind the shuttle. this is mostly laziness, and it results in the inability to use rotational energy, and therefore poor power, recovery, and a general lack of options. i would say, doing the work to get behind the shuttle is the most important component of clear, smash, or drop, and if you dont want to do this work there is no amount of technique or technical practice that will allow you to have a good overhead shot. so it starts with accepting the hard work of getting your body positioned behind the shuttle every time. only from there can you benefit from the kind of lessons you are teaching here

  • @ari-athbadminton0301

    @ari-athbadminton0301

    Жыл бұрын

    This is so correct about the lazyness and not engaging the legs enough to be on a better position BEFORE swinging the racket. My contact point was messed up for a very long time by not understanding how important the positioning is and as a result my smash remained weak and too flat.

    It really depends on build and technique. I mean its a given that males center of gravity is chest level and females is hip level. Chest center of gravity means you only need to lean back and fall froward while swinging to get alot of power. Hip level means you have to step a certain pattern (back, back, forward, swing, forward) to get the best power which is clearly more work. This is only commonly the case as I too have met some very physically strong female players in my club and one of them is Beiwen Zhang. Just look at those arms and shoulders. Her legs are just insult to injury at that point.

    Should our wrist be locked in the shot,means the position of the grip and wrist would be the same after the shot in the follow through plase as compared to before hitting the shot or there would be some movement or adjustment in it!?🙏

    The wrist rotates around together with the forearm but also stretches a bit away from the start position 💯

    Sir, how frequent you feel pain for your playing hand wrist? As I am facing this problem after playing consecutive 4 days

    I've had this too, but I focussed on getting the right technique. Then I didn't have this issue. You should'nt have pain in your wrist when playing badminton with the right technique. Inform your coach about it and ask how you can counteract the pain with the right technique.

    I have a question, While playing the clear, I sometimes feel a pressure on my neck which causes it to hurt afterwards. I know this must not happen and is probably due to a flawed movement. Have you ever come across this or happen to have a solution for it? I would be thankful And thank you for the video with very clear instructions!

    Very tricky to say, maybe it sounds like you tighten up the next to much while hitting, try to be more loose 😎

    Question: I see your wrist moved (into ulnar deviation). If your wrist is not in a neutral position at the moment of the hit does it still have the power from the forehand rotation?

  • @BadmintonFamly

    @BadmintonFamly

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes it rotates around together with the forearm and only into a position where it wont bend then it looses the power 💪🏻

    @@BadmintonFamly Thank you for your reply! But I still see the wrist is bent in the video at 4:55. The pinky side of the hand is bent to the right side. Is that okay? They say it's called ulnar deviation. Sorry for being technical and pedantic but I've been wanting to clear that up for a long time. :) Great video btw, easy to understand, very good for beginners.
