These videos are so informative and really great. They are wonderful in many ways from planning to just pure enjoyment. I am curious however about the NPS law about filming in National parks. Are you guys getting all the permits required? If so, how is that going because there are many KZreadrs that have opted not to film due to the cost, the time involved and just he hassle of getting there permits. I think the law is a travesty. I am trying to discover what others are doing and how they are handling these new "legal" requirements. They seem to be putting a real damper on most folks that want to continue filming and sharing the wonderful outdoors. Keep up the good work and thanks for all your time effort and dedication. Great information.

We have a little restaurant in my hometown in Oklahoma where the prairie dogs are literally in the grass and parking lot, right in front of you. I love just sitting on the patio, drinking beers, and just watching the prairie dogs interact with each other.

You two are doing a Travel Channel quality reality show! Your channel is a one of a kind. I read that you tested your lithium batteries when you set your thermostat at 75 and at 80 when the outside air temperature was 90 and that your batteries were discharging 125 amps per hour. At the Badlands camp ground, which temperature did you set your thermostat during the hot afternoon, and which temperature do you set your thermostat at night when sleeping? How well do your batteries stay charged during the frequent use of the AC?

According to science direct, pores in the sandstone are created when acid in water reacts to minerals in the sandstone. The wormholes are created when the larger pores in the sandstone grow a lot faster than the smaller pores.

You ALWAYS show us new and beautiful places to visit and experience! The Badlands…what a fantastic place to visit (in the winter or early spring!). We were there 104deg and boondock at the wall no pets though. Cool off at night 60's so sleeping wasn't bad, gone all day so heat wasn't really an issue.

Who Dey Howard 🐅. We just got back from Grand Teton, Yellowstone, & Rocky Mountain NP. We went to Badlands, Wind Cave, & Mount Rushmore last year. We didn’t much care for Wind Cave. Grand Teton May be our new favorite now. We’ve enjoyed the series. Keep up the good work.

We visited the Badlands in May, and stayed at the dispersed camping just outside the park. We loved our visit. We look forward to your video each week. 😊

I finally got to watch the complete Badlands video this morning--and bravo. Great job. Amazed that you can get such a complete edit done on a weekly basis--while still exploring and from an RV! It takes me four full days to get mine done, and I have to take a break from the road to get them done. Also, impressed with the audio. From the shadow in one of the shots, it looks like the interviews are coming from a shotgun mic. Really?

We credit our backgrounds a bit, Howard worked in high-end media production in LA and I was a reporter who shot and edited all my daily news packages. @@NewstateNomads Well, how about I started on a typewriter, switched to computers, had a daily deadline (for one article) at 3 p.m., and then in 2006 started a weekly video show, which expanded to twice a week, then we added a daily podcast. I interviewed a lot of greats, from Steve Jobs to Jerry Seinfeld, but going multi-media was by far the highlight. And as far as the daily article, that expanded into multiples, with a deadline that was at all times! It was fun, but I love doing my own thing now. Love your stuff by the way--jealous of your Colorado trip! What station were you at in LA?

Yes! A lot of the elements reminded me of parts of Death Valley. Probably why I liked it so much 😍

The Notch Trail is so cool. Great job on the ladder. Badlands is a beautiful place. I love the boardwalk fossil area too. I loved the Arch. Wow! Keep up the great work you two. Love your videos.

Thanks, and while it's true you have to pay for commercial filming permits (the law has been in place since 2000!!), filming is definitely allowed. We have a master spreadsheet and someone helping to fill out the forms to keep us on top of all the deadlines of the tour. 👍 -Howard

the lab was open when we werre there, maybe a day before labor day. as we made yellowstone after labor day. and at the end of august beginning of sept it was hotttttt.

We boondocked there a couple of years ago - loved Badlands, but missed the boardwalk trails. I think it was hot & we have a black Lab. I love prairie dogs too!

Exactly!! We stayed out til about 11 am the morning of the ranger walk though and that was pushing it temperature wise! 🥵 Then back out in the evening. Luckily it's a gorgeous park as the sun gets lower 😍

I noticed that you used your toad to explore the park. Do you think you could have explored in your rv? Our rv is close in size to yours but we do not have a toad, at least yet. Great series and thanks for taking us along.

Yeah you can , I went this year in May and saw plenty of charter buses driving around doing tours , so you should have no problem, plenty of large parking for the highlight areas of the park , the road is normal size, hope this helps

hope you went to wind cave national park, not the caves, thou, a forest road, all dirt, the prairie drogs come right next to your car, as the bison

It was on our list and we had plans to film there, but they've been having major issues with the elevator into the caves and cancelled all tours. While we'd love to film everything else, we also wouldn't be able to do it justice without including the caves. We'll get there one day! 🤞☺️

@@NewstateNomads we did not make the caves but drove a forest road, all dirt, mainly one lane, prairie dogs did not move and were right next to our car.
