Newstate Nomads

Newstate Nomads

We’re Howard and Katelyn Newstate... the Newstate Nomads. Two work-from-home digital nomads ( AKA traveling fools) who decided to take this show on the road and live in a 200 sq. foot box (2019 Winnebago Navion 24D) with our three ridiculously cute dogs, Piper, Ella & Scout. We're full-time RVers, and can't wait to share travel tips, hacks, and how we travel the globe for cheap.

In the first month of #RVLife, we drove our home on wheels 4000+ miles up the East Coast from Florida to Nova Scotia. Now, we've driven over 70,000 miles in just over four years of travel, including RVing to Alaska twice, mainland Mexico and most of Canada!

Follow along on this wild journey of ours, we’re glad you’re here!

    Going to Salem in the summer was a smart move. Never go in October, unless you like, crowds, long lines and possibly jacked up prices and parking is an issue as well. Also how did you kss the Peabody Essex museum? Thats the best attraction in the city

    Are the critical components like A/C, water pump and heater routed into the Connect system? Or do they have separate switches in addition? My Firefly brain just died, and so I’m not a fan of a single point of failure. It’s been a showstopper for me, and has been a real pain while touring and doing my book events. I’ve had to get a dog sitter because of no a/c :-(

    Lithium ion or lithium iron batteries?

  • @NewstateNomads
    @NewstateNomads3 күн бұрын

    Its a great question, and just so we're clear, Lithium Ion is the general type of battery. In this case (and same for most battery brands selling into the RV market like Battle Born, Enduro Power, Dakota, Lithionics, etc), this is the LiFePO4 chemistry, which contains Iron. So you could call it either name, but the more specific would be Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! 👍 - Howard

    What do you do for gas in these remote and isolated areas of Alaska?

  • @NewstateNomads
    @NewstateNomads7 күн бұрын

    Great question! The general rule is to look for fuel whenever you reach a half a tank. Along the most popular routes, you shouldn't be more than 100 miles between gas stations, and almost all have both gas and diesel. We have all the fuel stops, along with activities, dining and accommodations for both our 2019 and 2021 trips (150+ points on the map) included with our planning guide: newstatenomads.com/rvalaska Thanks for watching! 👍 - Howard

    I had a 2007 View J model with a twin bed back next to the dry bath restroom. I liked that layout because I could always stop and the bed was always there. I camped alone, mostly at rest stops or KOAs. Great motorhome. That gear garage is killer, especially when you remember the coach is only 24’ long. This model is very well laid out. Have you done another on what the production model will look like? I’m sure something changed but what you see here is Very nice. Wow!! That rear view mirror is just too good. I had no idea that was a thing

    U said go to comment if U missed anything… I watched a review on the ‘025 Thor & they said it’s on a 4500 vs 3500 Sprinter chassis thus increased cargo capacity… U said a ‘23 chassis, so I’d guess Thor is going with the newest chassis while Winnebago is using up older stock ?? I hope not !! 900+ # CCC is terrible !! & please tell us that a “no propane” diesel genset option is available…. I really like the multiple solar pkg as well. The I-4 2 ltr 9 speed has been long anticipated & should sell very well…. In-line engines are greater 4 low end torque & a bit more fuel efficient too. GREAT REVIEW..👍👍

    You both did a great job on the presentation! We are considering buying a Navion or View. I never would have considered the kitchen in this one, but you showed me that it can be done. It jas a lot of nice features. I would like to see a fireplace, shoe area, and washer dryer combo. I also would like to see an oven or microwave with an air fryer. We use our air fryer daily and I don't know where it would fit on this. Also, I like to take an instapot, but not sure where that would go. I love the table and chairs idea. You are very organized. Thank you for the tips and ideas. Also, my husband is 6'3 and not sure if the Murphy bed would work for him. This RV has a lot of great features! Love the microwave up top, as I have trouble bending over to microwave. This is a good consideration for us. Thank you for your review! Love your doggies! Can't wait to see what you choose!

    Ya’s got my mouth watering!!! I visited Lititz over the winter just to walk around and see the pretty Christmas lights and the funny ducks and now I plan to go back and visit ALL the places yous were at and eat everything you both ate because my belly won’t stay quiet until I satisfy it with pretzels and Wilbur buds and ice cream and tomatoe pie and olive oil and pirogies!! Yum 😋

    Being a vehicle first, it sort of sucks once the mechanical part of the coach is about 5-10 years the whole thing is about useless. Also unless you break camp can't go out to dinner unless you got a toad vehicle. Not a knock on Winnebago just a big draw back of motorized coaches vs trailers But if money is not an option it's definitely a nice camper

    It’s great to see our Town on the KZread channel. You guys did a great job, but do you think anybody should tell him that the clam shack and the spirit of Massachusetts are really in Kennebunk not Kennebunkport. But it’s a common mistake. also I don’t know if you know right next to the spirit of Massachusetts is where they make shipyard brewing. That’s where it started at federal jacks

    See what a heart filled loving family can be....but due to money(bills) many never experience this level of love or loose it. Level 1....their would be many higher levels of knowledge, creation understanding with all of what the earth has to offer but money gets in the way. Money is dumb, dangerous, inefficient, uncreative, evil. The Venus Project could "start" a education, health, and Universe lifestyle/awareness like we need yesterday and do it multi quick vs ANY political back n forth games. Were all going to die, but could we have lived .....nearer Godliness...3 Lock Box...in case you don't think distractions matter....distractions for money......"evils sandbox" How? History----a generation,,United World YouthOrg to silence inheritance like 1989 China. TVP for the youth, free old from broke(n) carbon farmed slave populated infrastructure proven unsustainable on a Titanic ride under cloud. Just a line in the sand away from Extreme Human Advancement....??..!!...As if we have never dealth with change, ..??..!...as if we are not adaptable.....THE ONLY problem is what money has done to man simple Ego. J Fresco, "This shits gotta go". 10 yrs rebuild, heck give it 20, vs todays media wasting circle jerk it is a NO brainer. Disclosure: The lill guy reminds me of my Rascal. RIP till later! I forgot to mention that Rock Lititz is in Lititz. It is a large entertainment center. This is where some of your big name stars come to fine tune their stage acts. Rock Lititz does sound, lighting and stage sets. Steve Tyler was seen in Lititz this past year.

    Enjoyed your video on Lititz and some of the things it offers. We're from Lancaster so Lititz is in our back yard. Also, the Wolf Sanctuary is always interesting. We sponsored a wolf one year and went to visit him at the sanctuary. You said that your going to Hershey. So you are eating your way through our area. Don't forget shoofly pie and our whoopie pies. Safe travels.
