Poor Max. That defect she described does NOT sound good. He's unusually large for a GP his age, I wonder if he has a growth defect or something. At least he has a very loving owner.

@@thunderbird1921 Nope, that's just a Swiss Teddy. Our Swiss Teddy is roughly the same age and the same size. A healthy Teddy can grow to be 2 kilo which is twice the size of an average guinea pig

@@thebrickmeister56 sadly it was announced on Instagram that he passed away the same day this was uploaded. I feel so bad for Julia, she works so hard for her guinea pigs and I know what it feel like losing a piggy (I've loss 3 gp's, 2 from birth defects and 1 from old age)

I am just heartbroken about Max. He was my favorite guinea pig.

Not a piggie mom, but did have rats. All but one lived above the average petstore lifespan because I didn't feed them the crap petstores try to sell you, but it was still an emotional punch to the gut when my babies let me know it was time. Even when they'd had slow-grow(aka "benign") tumors for months so I knew it was coming.

Oh dear I'm so sorry about Max! To be honest the tone of your voice and sweet little Lumi being like "Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mommy, let me love you you're sad!" that just had me tearing up. Max has been such a wonderful light in this world and I truly think his time with you has made him the happiest guinea pig I'd ever seen. No matter what happens he's surrounded by love and care. Here's hoping for the best for that handsome devil.

It's so scary how fast we can lose our little piggies. I am terrified when I see people that know a heck of a lot more than I do about guinea pigs and even they lose them. RIP Max. Julia, I'm very sorry for Max's premature departure.

I have two boys who were from the same litter. I took them in after seeing they were being abused by the daddy and just being malnourished. They came with me in a very dark time in my life and truly i felt like i slowly began to find purpose in life thanks to them. Recently one of them I noticed that he wasn't gaining as much weight as the other. They both are the same and lively. But i remember suddenly getting hit with the fear of losing him. And that pain and fear is so real. Pets no matter how big or small, they take a piece of our hearts with them. Don't apologize for showing emotion. You have every right to show it. You love them! You care. I'm so sorry for you loss❤️ i wish I could say more. But know our hearts are with you.

I'm crying to hear this. The fluid retention medicine did help with my piggie Willow in her last days of cancer, it will help Max feel more comfortable. What a gorgeous character he is, you are such good piggie parents and found him the best veterinary help. I pray he pulls through ❤❤

Guinea pigs are so prone to so many health issues and it's really awful😢I've had 3 sweet piggies pass due to illnesses no one could control, they're such wonderful animals and only deserve happiness and when I heard your voice cracking with sadness I almost started crying, I know this pain and it's practically unbearable, but he's in good hands with you and I really pray he gets better

I know it's so heartbreaking. My 2 year old guinea pig died recently to pneumonia. Poor guy. What's even sadder is that when you search online for a type of disease or illness, they mostly say "common cause of death" because they're so prone and fragile 😭

I’m going to try to be an exotic vet tech when I get older, so I can help many exotic animals including guinea pigs. And maybe save some piggies’ lives. :,)

I'm so sorry. I've lost several pigs way too soon & I work as a veterinary nurse. They tend to give up during treatment & there's not much more we can do. Know you gave him a really good life & great company.

I know, Max is an amazing furry fellow. That defect is NOT a good sign though. I wonder if he has a genetic growth defect in his body, he's unusually large for a guinea pig his age.

The exact same situation happened with my guinea pig teddy, we went to the vet and he seemed to be better and doing well but shortly after even though he had his medicine and everything he started to breathe heavily and didn’t seem well at all. We had no time to go to the vet and he wouldn’t even lift his head. He crossed over the rainbow bridge later that night in my Mum’s arms with me beside him. Rest In Peace Teddy and Max

Once they stop eating.its not good news. Sometimes you can mush the food up with water and feed it through syringe... It’s sad when they reach a stage with a blockage ,not always good results. They often look like they are picking up,then they go the other way suddenly. It’s so sad
