Backup Micro Kit For SHTF

Ойын-сауық

Backup Micro Kit For SHTF
I wanted to try and put together a backup kit for SHTF preparedness to either supplement your preps at obscure locations or re-equip yourself if needed.
Bug out locations, vehicles, your workplace and anywhere else you might be during an emergency are good places to add some preparedness items. I wanted to see what I could put together in a small, micro package that would be for backup supplies. This shouldn't be your primary preparedness kit but if you needed to supplement a get home bag, equip someone who is with you or if something happened that left you empty handed, this little kit can do a lot. Let me know your thoughts down below!

Nice. Just take the batteries out of the light. Leaving them in will cause it to discharge, and it will corrode the negative and positive terminals. Cost me a headlamp in the past, I now remove all my batteries from items if I'm not using them frequently. Stick em in a little battery box and if you need it you can install them then.

Things I would change/add *Ammo Box - an ammo box has a carry handle and the lock doesn't matter on the plastic box because it can be twisted off and the box is small enough to be carried off. *Wraps of duct tape around the lighter, because you can always use duct tape. *Tube of Neosporin antibiotic - can be used with the foam for fire starter and lube for the gun. *Garbage bags (large) to carry things, shelter, water catchment, *Combat knife - something you can use instead of a play knife. *Small optic for scouting and seeing at a distance. *Drywall saw - so much easier to gather firewood and can be a weapon. *Safety wire - it is so useful for everything- fishhooks, garrote, food suspension *Mouse traps - it works for food and sentry duty. *Aluminum Foil - makes fire cooking so much easier *Tubes of super glue - for cuts and repair

@MagicPrepper I don't believe I ever went on an op (or even a hike), where I did not twist, sprain, cut, bruise, scrap, or in some other way cause myself pain that I wanted to eliminate immediately. I am a wuss! I boke my femur on a parachute landing fall, my hip, tore up my knee, and broke several small bones in the field over my many years of 'playing' war. I would replace the foam with other items that could cushion and be useful like gauze, alcohol prep pads, small travel Neosporin packets, tape, cottonballs with Vaseline with aluminum foil folded around them, moleskin, bandana that could be used as a face mask, N95 mask. Also would add an emergency ration bar. Safetypins, wire and waterproof matches tucked into any little gaps. Tiny multi-tool or as big of one as can fit.

Man... Beretta is proud of that thing. There a bunch of snub nosed .38s I'd buy for a lot less money first if I just "had" to check the same boxes. Even an M&P EZ in .380 is a large cost savings, with a little size and weight penalty, but a mildly better round. Good on them for supporting your work though. 👍

Small little tools that will help in situations when you need access or the ability to relock something behind you to put some space and time between you and a crowd or pursuer.

Lately I’ve been in urban areas, so in that context I would put a .38 with some +P’s and a belly band. That way I would not have to worry about a mag. Then I’d put in some cash, a hand held light to use with the pistol if needed, but also the light could be put in a pocket. A small but thick knife if I would have to pry something open. Some meds and an Israeli bandage for medical. That Beretta reminds me of those old Seecamps. I used some Taurus’s with that tip up barrel, they worked pretty well. They were .25s.

Cool concept, fun video. Id personally like to see - a little drawstring bag or something to carry this stuff. -less spare ammo, maybe those vaccum packs do(for the space) and everything not in mags kind of means youre anticipating a second gunfight with the tiny gun. I think not very much space should be given to that. -garbage bag/cheap poncho and then could protect gun with it and the bag, maybe ditch the foam? bank line over paracord? Love the thought experiment

(I wear glasses, have dry eyes, and allergies that cause severe sinus, nasal congestion, inflammation.) I'd add a top layer if necessary. May include wired ear buds, a tiny keychain usb flashlight, a micro and usb c charging cable and portable lithium battery too. Some of these are EDC for me.

This is good content‼️ and here's some constructive criticism/advice. Use a metal ammo can, it will be more useful over plastic as an item itself, especially if you have to stay in close vicinity to where it was stashed for a while. Give it a fresh coat of paint and make sure the gasket is good before burying it. I'd personally stick to something in 9mm for a pistol, but your reasoning for a smaller caliber is sound. I use PVC pipe with end caps to cashe "4 winds" homemade slam-fire 12gauge. Literally just black iron pipe that doesn't look like anything to most people but is much more effective/useful in a shtf/defense situation. I keep the barrels around 16" so they still have some range, and can be concealed under a jacket need be. The barrel is also useful as blunt impact tool. 27-pellet 4Buck is my shell of choice for these, and I throw 15-20 of them in with the tool. They're really cheap to build and I won't care as much if I never make it back to it. Ditch the foam its wasted space as many have said. Add an ultralight foldable backpack for carrying everything. I'd throw in a couple ration bars at least to have some calories, and a couple pieces of hard candy like jollyRanchers. No you don't need food as badly as water, but if you go a couple days without one tends to get a little weak and absent minded, which wouldn't be good in the scenario where you actually have to dig this kit up. Mini bottle DEET bug spray or some small deet wipes! Trust me bugs can make you miserable and distract you. Small tube of antibiotic ointment, painkillers, a couple activated charcoal pills, superglue, small QuickClotting agent, a couple caffeine pills for if you absolutely need to stay awake. Add a Steel/titanium cup, fill it with the other smaller stuff and it doesn't really take up any extra room. Switch the silvery survival blanket with a survival bivy with green on the outside. It's the same thin mylar material and the same basic size, but its much more effective and easy to conceal with. Switch the 550cord for some tarred twisted bankline, its more useful and you'll be able to have a lot more cord for the space. Paracord soaks up water, bankline won't. Plus one rarely needs more than 200lbs worth of tensile strength in cordage. The twisted version can be untwisted easily for smaller diameters. Add a small amount of kevlar micro-cord to use as a saw. Switch the knife out for a stainless Morakniv, the angle of that TDI will make it a pain if you have to use a blade for a lot of tasks. I prefer the Mora Pro S, its sturdy enough for moderately hard tasks, and inexpensve. Add a credit-card-sized diamond sharpening plate. FYI the Sawyer Squeeze is much better than the mini, it's the same basic ceramic filter but has better flow and doesn't clog as easily. From experience the mini won't last nearly as long as claimed, even when pre-filtering and back flushing, but the squeese will. The only Downfall of these types of filters is that once used you cannot let them freeze, as the ceramic will crack and it won't work properly(and you won't be able to tell it's compromised). So only store a brand new one, and if its below freezing always keep the one you're using inside a jacket or in your sleeping bag with you. Hope this helps, cheers

I dig the idea of this kit, an stashing it somewhere. A knife is only good if its sharp, a sharpener of some sort would come in handy. Cause you will use the knife more than the gun, an a boo boo kit, rather than a few bandages. Mylar blankets wouldn't hurt either, oops missed the blanket, Lol. Just my thoughts. I would ditch the Sawyer bag. The filter itself is good but as far as the mylar bag, most people hate them. Hard to collect water and they rip easily. Get a CNOC instead. Takes up same amount of room.

Nice kit, but some wire, a spool of upholstery thread or kevlar fishing line and some heavy duty needles, and a multi-tool would fit in there. You had plenty of room...

Love Beretta. Fantastic company and my fav pewpews....but .32 Tomcat is NOT in my shtf *emergency* kit. For something inexpensive get a turkish canik or brazilian taurus knock off mini 9mm. 9mm ammo is probably the second most likely pistol round youll be able to scrounge after .22. Agree on fixed blade knife....but dont care for your choice. I want something more "pointy pointy" for possible rib work Your compass needs a lanyard. Agree with other comment on cotton balls in petro-jelly. Last, get some "Goo" (check running stores). High energy high calorie pick me up. Like super thick honey comes in take out sized mayo/mustard package. Carry on

Things I would do different. I’d wrap some gorilla tape on the lighter so if I had to start a fire I could tear off thin strips and wad them up and bam a ignition source to make it more simple, and it literally takes no more space.. 1 is none and 2 is one so I would also have some petroleum jelly impregnated cotton balls or dryer lint in a small tin or toothbrush travel holder. A small bag or 2 of nuts or shelled sunflower seeds and a can or 2 of tuna (sardines if you eat that nasty stuff).. Maybe a small tube of super glue for cuts or repair of something. I would also throw my Shield 2.0 in there if I ever got around to getting a Shield plus. But hey, have other things to buy.. lol

I've had issues with the Sawyer filters crapping out and not working at times where I really needed them. I would suggest just moving over to purification tablets. I might also add a blast match or something similar, and some tinder or a candle. And I'd probably add an emergency bivvy. I think you got the space.

The Sawyer squeeze is the better option over the mini, the mini clogs too quickly, even when pre-filtering and back flushing, and won't last nearly as long as claimed, but the Squeeze will. Tabs work but they take a long time to work.

@@MB-jg4tr The most important aspect of the tabs is that they do work. I've also been looking at something like the UV steri-pen. As much as I don't want to trust electricity, it's more reliable than a lot of sawyer products.

That Tomcat looks so attractive. I'd hate to have to stash that away from home. Good call though, light enough for pajamas. If I had any caches laying around, I would have food and drink in every one, and other cheap supplies. Ebay sells knives confiscated by airports in big bundles if you want to get 100 disposable knives and multi-tools for stashing around town. Another item I would throw in is a cheap rain poncho. Hand sanitizer? Batteries? Maps printed from home and a pen? Fishing line? Just pack the box until you can pack it no more.

Good stuff, I'd try to sneak in some guaze as well, but looking at all the great ideas in the comments you'd quickly be able to stock up a second home in your backups backup bugout location. 🤣 But there's so much good stuff you could do, make the whole thing a faraday cage and only put in backup electronics/solar panel stuff or an all in one communications box, ammo dump, all kinds of ideas. If you go special purpose the options become endless.

Not real big on .32ACP, but since it was given to you, that's nothing to conplain about. Instead of a SWAT-T, A couple of Slishman's with the bag would be a better choice, and could easily have two for less than the price of the Swat. No food? Easily could put a few granola bars in there, or pick your favorite parts of a MRE just for calories. Cool little kit though!

A length of one inch nylon webbing for a carry option ? this is a smaller version of my boat / atv pelican box . I also picked up some on sale mtm box’s at menards a couple of years ago very cheap and did the same thing they are great for keeping your phone and wallet out of the elements as handy as ammo can’s but smaller
