Great video Random. I drove a taxi in Ashton in the late 80s / early 90s, it is a shame what has happened to the town. It has gone from the place to be to the place to avoid, in a very short time. Lot of great memories.

I Miss the the old ashton days

Thank-you for the memories, I used to work at universal it is soo sad to see everything soo derelict, I was shocked to see no blues bar and the takeaway next door all gone 😥, remembering payday and running over for a kebab while the doormen kicked everyone out lol and we sat eating before cleaning up, many many happy memories of a weekend there

Used to be a great night out in the 80s....Yates, the Cavern, Stamford Arms, Queens, Old Vaults, Pointers, to name a few... cheers from Vancouver, BC.

I started going in the 90s and my mum wht terrified of me going to Ashton she thought I would get up to mischief and she were right 🤣🤣🤣

@@Randomanddesperate I was there around 83/84 until I left the uk in 89. A pint of mild was about 50 p in 83. Another great pub was the feathers....used to play only 60s music. The pubs used to be absolutely heaving. No fire codes back then.

Feathers is still there which is on the corner just opposite Yates's, 50p lol £4 now

@@Randomanddesperate adjusted for inflation, the prices have doubled. 50 p in 83 is about 2quid today. I moved to Vancouver in 93 after 3 years in the USA and beer is more like London prices here. But I earn more than the UK prime minster! Don’t regret leaving. I actually grew up in Dukinfield.

I’m sure a club I used to go to down there was called yuppies , had the best time ever ,thanks for the wonderful memories

There were many nightclubs in the backstreets of Ashton all gone are still bothered up

Ashton was reknowned all over manchester as the best night out after the town centre. Me and my crew used to go at least every other week from 91-96! Tameside council stood by and allowed its demise. Makes you wonder why some of the buildings have stood empty for so long?

It certainly was a good night in the 90s but there was a lot of trouble down there and then the snowflakes of society decided that Ashton was too dangerous and then all the nightclubs shut and moved to stalybridge on the same thing happened there.

Happy Monday I like that, it was a good and interesting night around Ashton in the 90s as you can imagine I will a lot younger and a lot more let's just say influenced by new experiences 🤣🙂

Hi Random, thank you for the tour around parts of Ashton. I have some awesome memories from there, many times walking home because I "missed" the last bus haha. So sad to see all those lovely buildings now derelict. Another public toilet, complete with bath this time lol... Really glad my pub and club days were in the 80's, I would not want to be growing up there now 😢 Take care and cheers from New Zealand 😄

Me too mate got to say gone down hill and when the market goes its finished lots of memories gone good days tho .

Hi random steve most nightclubs are closed now and traditional pubs its cocktail bars gin bars now 🙂🙃

I'm afraid I'm not into cocktail and gin bars there's no characteristics in them places it's just a pop-up pub converted from a shop.
