I was so pleased to see that you filmed in Southport. We love it and always visit The Dolphin for our lunch (it is so good !). When the weather is good, I really don't think Blackpool comes even close ! (I slept on the beach all night once in the 1970's, but that's another story !). Thanks for posting ! xx

Yes it's worth a visit

Hi from the US. Visited Southport countless times as a child. Back then, in the 70s and 80s, it was a close second to Blackpool for a day out. From what I recall, Southport was always a day trip kind of place, whereas Blackpool was somewhere you could easily stay a week. Reminds me of an old joke, How do you stop an elephant from climbing Blackpool Tower? Take it to Southport 😂

Cracking vlog buddy Southport is a beautiful place i love it there and only 1 arcade so kids cant do to much damage to the bank balance when we go there .i love the look of the place reminds me abit of Llandudno

great video of southport , as we live near aintree we love southport , easy to travel to. We prefer there to blackpool plus its nearer , and we been going for 42 years as i ended marrying my friend from when we were 7 , where we grew up, funny world . Best fish n chips in southport is opposite the pier mate, its called The Sandgrounder , you wont be disappointed ...next time you there, keep the fantastic content coming ........

@@Randomanddesperate Southport has so much more, there is another street (Chapel St) that is where most of the shops/cafes etc are now, oh and the train station. Also the Promenade, if you had been able get down the pier you would have seen two huge complexes, with ten pin bowling, cinemas, hotel and shops aplenty. SO do not hog the town, move your butt to places like Ainsdale, stunning beach, Churchtown with the Botanic gardens, shops, restaurants, bars, play area and lake. Freshfield with its Pinewoods, beach, red squirrels and another fab beach. Southport has so much more and if you have to go to Blackpill go for cupla days and save your money!!

@@Randomanddesperate Next time or time after go The Swan chippy and sit in, now they are the best! Freshly cooked while you are there, near couple of bars too! Another OK park about ten mins walk away from there is Hesketh. Enjoy! Oh and near to town don't miss model boating lake and Rotten Row if you love flowers that is right next to Victoria Park which is a nice peaceful park-approx 15 mins walk from where you got fish/chips, less if you cut through Morrisons car park!

Southport I’d say are for the older communities or the scousers who just want to nip up the road for a break. It’s not like lairy Blackpool and not as rough, but still steeped in history, prefer it that way, quite sophisticated in some places. Friendly and charming. Shame the piers falling apart now. Fish and chips looked 1st class.

love southport took the train from there when I was younger with my 3 year old brother I was 10 a big day out after my mother gave me cash to buy apples went for a day out I was in big trouble when I got back 10 hours later thanks for the memories s random lol

we enjoyed a visit to the 'new' museum recently, my partner had never seen the Merky and he came over here many moons ago, later we went to a pub type restaurant a scouse mate had recommended. I have stayed in Liddy pool and enjoyed my time there, visited the huge library, museum, art gallery, theatre in evening followed by Philarmonic pub. Everywhere has something interesting if you check it out!
