Great tips! Thank you Ruth!!! Especially the tip using your pack liner/cover. I'm a tall girl...and my feet always touches the side of the tent. I've started sleeping diagonally now, which seems to help a bit.

Good tips, I never have a good nights sleep when camping, although, I tend to wildcamp , so nobody else around. Take care, cheers Alan

Thanks Alan. Are you able to wildcamp at the moment? It's a bit tough in South Africa right now with all the lockdown restrictions, but I'm longing to get back out there!

@@RoughingItWithRuth - It's always been illegal to wildcamp in England but tolerated. Unfortunately, there has been a surge of 'new' campers, who are leaving rubbish and mess, giving proper wild campers a bad name.

Thanks! If money is no object, then Merino Wool is great. I have used various much cheaper options made of polyester and elastine, and of course I have used cotton as well, which is fine so long as you keep it dry.

When I have to set up on ground that is not quite level I will place my shoes, pack or other items under the mat edge on the low side creating a bumper, almost a hammock condition. Rolling or sliding off the mat onto the tent wall all night is not pleasant.

I cannot believe that you do not use a sleeping bag liner. Warms you up by 1 degree and keeps your sleeping bag cleaner.

I have used a liner in the past, and I do sometimes use a Mont Bell down blanket inside my sleeping bag as a liner, but I found that I don't really need them. I always give myself a bit of the sponge bath and put on clean clothes before getting into my sleeping bag anyway 😅
