    2 жыл бұрын

Thanks mate 👍 it's simple I don't shoot all of them because I love to hunt them......I wouldn't live here if they weren't here to hunt. We are feral, we are destructive to environments we are not native to this land but guess what we never cull or control our population so why we feel the need to control other animals is beyond me. The massive fires or 2019 certainly controlled their numbers across most of Victoria. Almost all the areas I hunt I have done so for 10+ years with no noticeable increase in population so the environment and the current hunting harvest is keeping them in check.

My brother in-law and I we're having a spotlight on his bosses property just walking around with the torches for some foxes and rabbits and spotted 3 Sambar. So I thought we should have a play with the deer caller since it was a freezing night with no wind full moon and nothing else was out. It got them to stop and look back at us a couple of times which was a success in my book. So we call it a night and as we are walking off in the moon light it had called a wild dog 10 feet behind us on the other side of the fence it let off a bark and ran off. So the Sambar deer caller works for dogs as well lol.

I like to keep my pack for 3 days under 13kg and the walk in is anywhere between 5 and 7 km.

I use my phone with google earth loaded up before out of reception and I also have an App called Australian Topo. I study the area extensively on the computer and with paper maps before any trip to have a good idea of what to expect. In the end I dont need any of it but its a great idea to know exactly where you are so you dont get misplaced.

Would have been a nice stay in a couple of years! Let them grow mate! All of the youtubers like yourself, are always on about getting a 30incher, yet you shoot small stags all the time! Great filming, but let the stags grow, it just promotes the wrong culture.

All of the KZreadrs like me are always going on about shooting 30inchers ? I bet you can't quote a single time that I have said anything remotely like this in any of my videos! I think its great to have that attitude towards growing trophies if thats what you are hunting for. If I was to average out how many stags I shoot a year over the 25 years I've been hunting it works out to be 2 per year, most of them are what you call "small" so if I was to not shoot "small" stags I wouldn't have shot much. I let plenty of stags walk off too and not all small stags that I see die but if the hunt is good then yes I shoot "small" stags because that is my reward for the effort I put in. I also rarely hunt the same area twice in a calendar year so its not like I'm impacting the herd but taking out a small stag.

Haven't you shot enough rats by now? you have heaps on your wall already, maybe let them grow a bit. Good clip except for the rat

Hey Mitchell thanks for watching...as for the rat no ill still shoot stags as the come big or small depends on the hunt. I've never seen a stag that I've let go ever again and with the NP cull program it's likely they will eventually cull this system and these deer will all be rotting in the bush.
