Backing your beaded Medallions 😉

A quick video on backing your beadwork. This is what I do and there may be other fun ways , I'm just sharing what I've come to rely on. For this project I used chipboard(cereal box), Aileen's tacky glue, waxed artificial sinew, and a light leather to back the beadwork. Follow me @ Spottedcloud on Instagram for more examples of my beadwork😉

In have not but I'm sure it would be pretty easy. I'm thinking to stabilize the material you could use a embroidery hoop and or a tearaway stabilizer. Happy beading

Ok so I had a blond moment. When you said cereal board I was like what is that must be a special cardboard.... lmao 🤣 I get that it’s cardboard from the cereal boxes 😆 Luckily I realized before I tried looking it up ! That’s really smart to use I haven’t ever thought of anything like that . Thank you for your videos they are truly helpful. I wish you uploaded more 🙃 lol!

Lol😃 I've also used the plastic tops from butter or the oatmeal containers. It works really well for stabilizing the beadwork.

Mona C. Ohhh how thick is too thick of a stabilizer do you think for this kind of thing specifically? Like the backing of a medallion ? Im new to beading but it definitely makes a person creative in finding resources lol 🙂! My GG use to do bead work and my Nana does sometimes but no one in my family anymore really ...so I decided I should carry the tradition... plus it’s addictive! Lol I’m in love with beading !!! I’m kind of obsessed now lmao 🤣

I save the lids from plastic butter tubs and just sew it on, just incase some threads get worn in the future and i need to fix it again. Then just back it with another piece of felt. I only use the butter lids for medallions

My thought is the same except to use the plastic instead of cardboard. I think I’d prefer beading on felt, never tried plastic.

Nikole Wynn I've used almost all the different types of Aileens glue on different projects. They all work the same. Also another trick I didn't cover is sandwiching plastic, like the lid of a butter container. It works pretty good. I mostly rely on the old chipboard.

Terry Tidwell thank you. 😉 I usually make my own designs using elements from my tribe, however I do A Lot of pinning, of your like to head over to Pintrest you can find me there as Mona Cliff. I have many boards in which I've Pinned many things that inspire me. I usually make a few sketches then finalize my idea on graph paper if the design is very geometrical. Then I bead right on top of the paper. I even color the paper so their is no unsightly white spots. Hope this helps. Happy beading 😍

When you look for a thin leather, what is it called? I need some softer leather, but what I find at the craft stores is too thick - I can’t get a needle to pass through.

Mona, Hi. I'm making a cell phone pouch and it's my first one how would you go about putting it together I Loom beaded the front of the back would you know what I can use to put the back of them then sew them together? Please help. Thank you.

Margaret Holiday I would suggest heavy Stabalizer covered in cloth, maybe? I've never made one before but I'm thinking if it's like a regular pouch you could use leather, or cloth, tack the loom on after you've sewed the pouch together. I'm guessing though. I hope this helps.

Mona C. There are two pieces of loom bead work one is the front the other one is the back. So would you know if there is a stabilizer that I can just iron the loom bead work on too? Or maybe there is not one? Plus what kinda of cloth would you suggest I might use? I really appreciate your comments on this project. Thank you very much Mona. 😊💕

Margaret Holiday there is Stabalizer that have an ironable side to them. Also any kind of cloth might work, a heavy velvet would be nice. But I'd say Aileens glue is awesome for putting anyhtung together, any kind of fabric and stabilizer would work. Hope this helps.
