Great video series. Not really sure why people are complaining about the pace of his videos. He makes it clear at the beginning why he is doing this series in comparison to other videos. If people think he's going too slow then there are faster ones out there.

A very good series for total beginners that I have recommended to several. I appreciate the time you have put in to make these videos. Rather than likening it to a 'circle' I prefer to describe the movement of checkers as following a 'horseshoe' path, and that is my only little gripe.

Just jumping in again (commented on part 1) - these are fantastic, can't wait to get started playing this fascinating game. Thanks again.

From the camera's perspective, you would be playing the red checkers. Players sit with their home board at the bottom right or left, depending on direction of play. Any dispute between players regarding preferred direction or colour would be settled by a dice roll.

The rules we play say that if you don't like the opening combination the winner of the roll can decide to roll again for his 1st move, in this case it is possible to start with a double.

@rich8642 A certain amount of repetition and reinforcement of detail is a useful method for encouraging retention of information. Sure, I could state the core info in the video in one sentence, but I question how many NEW players would appreciate such brevity. People can judge if the video is "dull", but I think suggesting a three minute video is "long" is somewhat comical.

I enjoy the videos. I appreciate the detailed explanation as too little explanation helps no one.

Where do players typically sit in relationship to the board and to their color? If I were playing a game sitting in the position of the camera, would that mean I have the black checkers or the red checkers?

as i understand it you can't opt to pass in b'gammon , so does a move that involves BOTH the dice take precedence over a move that involves just 1 dice ? basically , is a player obliged to make the move that involves BOTH the dice over a move that involves just 1 dice ? i hope this makes sense , GREAT vids' , TY : )

OK, I'm the absolute, complete beginner you are directing this video to, but I'm already confused. The red and black "points" and the red and black checkers are a problem. You say they are just spaces for either player to move to and from. Why not pick a color, other than the color of the checkers and use the same color for all points? Secondly, you say that the game starts from the right side quadrants of the board, and the player starting from the upper right quadrants moves counter clockwise through the four quarters, to get all his pieces, eventually into the lower right quadrant.The other player starting in the lower right quadrant does the opposite to get all his pieces, eventually, into the upper right quadrant. Then you say the game begins with a single die roll by each player, but you designate the left side as black and right as red. That is so confusing, since both players start from the right side and finish on the right side, moving thought their respective quadrants, in their respective motions. When you were demonstrating how the checkers move, with respect to the die roll, you chose not to show what happens when a checker move lands on his opponent's point full of checkers. Does he move it in front or stack on his checker. Where? How?

You did NOT have to start saying about other games starting one colour first or players take turns to start, you just had to say 'a dice roll decides which player starts'. These videos are infuriatingly long and dull.
