"Stay On This Roads", "Summer Moved On", "Crying In The Rain", "I've Been Losing You", "Lifelines", "Train Of Thought", "I'm In" but specially "Hunting High and Low" Of course i'm not talking about "Take On Me" (their most famous one) since you guys already reacted to it. But you need to react the "Take On Me" MTV unplugged version. Morten Harket's voice is simply amazing Edit: One beautiful song i just heard "The Halo And The Horn", from 2022. This guys are, since the very beginning, simply genius. Morten's voice is one of the best ever, it's like an opera singer that doesn't sing opera. They are known as "One Hit Wonder" in the USA, but everywhere else they're "Every-Song-A-Hit-Wonder". 😁 In addition to various solo projects and live albums, they have released 11 studio albums, so calculate how many hits they had and I'm only talking about the singles they released out of the albums. They often didn't even released their best songs as single. On the other hand, almost every a-ha song is a masterpiece. Sometimes I think they rolled the dice which song should be released as a single 🤔😄

    @@dglcomputers1498 The Sun Always Shines On Tv is a much better song than Take On Me in comparison within the A-ha discography) and it earned 1st place on the charts. But compared to the general music landscape of the time, Take On Me was ahead of its time and also rightly deserved the top spot in charts all over the world. This song has a strange charm and almost has its own personality. Unfortunately, the charm of this song and the outstanding video stole the attention from the other, better a-ha songs in my opinion

    This is my favorite A-Ha song. They did a re-visited version of Take on me, very stripped down for MTV unplugged. It's slower but the instrumentation, and the vocals are haunting. Also I read another comment where Ren (artist name) was suggested for you. I would highly suggest you take a listen, not just to Hi Ren, which is his newer release and his biggest song so far, but to his work also with his band The Big Push. Also there's a trilogy of songs (the Jenny and Screech Trilogy with Violet's story in full) it's definitely an experience. Ren is indefinable as it pertains to genre because he crosses over so many in his music. Ren is definitely something extraordinary (especially lyrically, his story telling is un matched) to be experienced. I would think of him as a modern day Minstrel. There really is no other way to describe him... also bring your kleenex when you do check him out, you'll need it.

  • @N.Sloane

    @N.Sloane

    Жыл бұрын

    @@LiberalsArePoop It's big appeal is it speaks to mental illness and the inner struggle of the duality of man. It's just a conversation most people don't have. The reason it's going viral is entirely different. The artist Ren himself has gone through hell and back. He has spent most of his life sick. He was misdiagnosed for years. By the time they diagnosed his lime disease his body was so deteriorated. he had to go to specialists for stem cell treatments and all still he has all sorts of health (mental and physical) issues he still has to deal with in the aftermath even though he's doing much better now. Most of the music he's putting out now as a solo artist he wrote, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced himself. As a musician he's extraordinary, and I'm not one to dole out the compliments. Check out his Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla, and Blind Eyed with Sam Tompkins. The styles of these other songs vary so very much from Hi Ren. I promise you. It'll give you a better overview of his talent before you write him off as an artist. Also he is in a band called Big Push which has a ska influence, but is just absolutely lovely in the way they cover some really good songs. I don't even mean the reggae songs they cover. They cover black sabbath, Bill Withers... I wouldn't write the guy off for the one song that jumps genres over and over to tell the tale of his struggles, without at least taking a look at a few other songs. I promise you it's well worth the listen.

    My favorite song of theirs, lots of memories with this one,also back in the 80's we'd have radio stations doing their own remixes for the songs or use the official 12" and often would throw them onto the radio instead of hearing just the single version all the time,and this is one I remember mixes for a lot.

    I just love Jay and Amber. I must be 20 years older than them but seeing how they approach the songs of my youth makes me happy. I was never a massive A-ha fan (that video spooks me to be honest, I'm petrified by mannequins) but it was a great middle eight. Carry on Jay and Amber!

    It blows me away that this is the first time you've heard this song. If I had to take a wild guess, I've probably played this song somewhere between 11,000 - 14,000 times. I bought this album new in 1985 and this is a top 10 song of mine. Morton Harket is a phenomenal singer.

    Wow, I would call you a real dedicated fan 👍 I have always had a crush on Morten, and since I am Norwegian too, I have grown up with them and followed them and been to a lot or concerts in Norway especially, but also abroad. Btw I wonder why so many foreign people call him Morton and not Morten. I’ve seen that a lot. 😉

    A-Ha is one of my favorite bands ever. This band is out of Norway and while they only had a couple of hits in the United States, they are international phenomenons. "Take On Me", this song and "The Living DayLights" from the James Bond film were their most popular here. Morten Harket has an incredible voice and a sound that is unique unto themselves. This song is off of the album Hunting High & Low, along with "Take on Me". The video for "Take on Me" clearly was one that people were drawn to and remains one of the most iconic songs of all-time, but their music is excellent. Not all of it is hard driving like this one, or synth pop like "Take on Me". Their songs can be deep in reflection and often times slow, using Morten's voice as the primary. Nonetheless, they have some incredible music that you should dive deeper into. Check out - "I've Been Losing You", "Scoundrel Days", "The Living Daylights (James Bond soundtrack)", "Crying in the Rain", "Early Morning". As mentioned, many will not be known in this country but by true fans.

    What a great sound A-ha produced. Morten's voice is a boomer. I think you would love "Hunting High and Low.' It's a beautiful love story, but the video clip is equally as beautiful and typifies A-ah and their innovation. "Stay On These Roads" is also lovely. Adore the live version from the 2015 Nobel Peace Price Concert the most! Morten's voice sounds remarkable live. And the musical depth created by the band with an orchestra is stunning!

    As great as an 80's staple this song is, you guys haven't seen anything yet, A-ha is arguably one of the best pop music since 1985, bar none! Morten's Harket's immense voice, coupled with Pal(now Paul) and Magne's musical talents makes for great music. BTW, Morten Harket holds the record for the longest note, in which he sustained his chest voice for 20.2 seconds, in the wonderful "summer moved on" from 2000, he's truly one of the greatest vocalists ever!

    Media in the US call Morten (Lead vocals),Paal (guitar,flutes,basically a multi instrumentalist and backing vocals) and Magne aka Mags (Keyboards and Piano + backing vocals) a one hit wonder,as a matter of fact alot of countries in the world look at them as a 1 hit wonder band. Theyr first ever single was Take On me,and that had them conquer the world as the first band coming out of Norway,noone has accomplished the same ever since. But i consider them a multi hit band and quite legendary,still active today and original lineup for 41 years and counting (as of 2023) In the US i know ZZ Top could brag of the same thing,only thing that put a stop to that streak was the sad news about Dusty Hill passing. (Long live his memory!) You want A-ha to really blow you away? A-ha-Train of Thought and A-ha- The Blood That Moves The Body,i consider them theyr 2 best songs. Or if you want to see them with a couple of theyr US shot music videos,where they show theyr out of theyr comfort zone,silly sides? a-ha - Touchy! & a-ha - You Are the One (Shot both in New Jersey and New York) And i know you want to experience a-ha-summer moved on,where Morten gained a place in the Guinness World Of Records for the longest sustainable note in pop music,wich noone has done longer till this day. Still they are soo underrated as a band,any of theyr songs is an absolute masterpiece. If you want a completely different sound from them again,i recommend a song like: a-ha-move to memphis. Its defintly more pop-rock vibed,more UMPF and Attitude lol. You can never go wrong with any A-ha song,and you will learn that "why wasnt this a hit over here,its brilliant!". It still baffles me,and i grew up with theese guys being my favourite band.

    My #1 a-ha track!! I distinctly remember when this video came out (I was 5) - I was in awe - their videos are art (IMHO), and so is their music! This song would become my most often requested track at the nightclub - it's an experience on the dance floor! The entire album is amazing - this band is amazing. Morten Harket's voice is/was one of the best in the 80's (and still holds up now!!) Future recommendations: Hunting High and Low (album's title track), Manhattan Skyline, Stay On These Roads, Lifelines, Cry Wolf, I've Been Losing You, Forever Not Yours, Crying In The Rain (Everly Brothers cover) I know you've done Take On Me, but might I suggest an alternate version - live acoustic from 2017 (MTV Unplugged) - where they've turned it into a ballad. Morten's voice is sublime!! Great reaction - look forward to more a-ha!
