when a band's vocalist sounds just as good live as on the record, you know he's GREAT. A-ha is one of these groups that can pull off live concerts that sounds just as good as the recordings!

10+ studio albums. The guy is amazing.
That's Morten for you. He has an incredible voice and never uses autotune. He doesn't need it. He can deliver live. I know little vocalist who can convey emotions with their voice like he can. And his register is 4 octaves. They still tour and record and have a new album coming up.
If this song sounds live that epic, then imagine the studio recording!Twas a glorious comeback.Hats off to Morten's vocals!That Nordic God.Who could sing this song the way HE did?! Don't have an answer.

Do agree.My most fave male singing voice.Best i've ever heard.Have watched him live and couldn't believe my ears.
I had abandoned a-ha in the late 80s. Then I heard them perform this 'live' on a BBC TV show - I think it was "Watchdog" - in 2000. Oh, man. They only played the first part before the credits rolled but that was enough to recognise that I was listening to something special. Got back on the train and still on board today (a-ha, not "Watchdog").
I witnessed that live. What a privilege!

Hearing this song live is such a great miracle. And he can do it over and over again and again. He is a master!
And that other song he’s got….. it’s a 40 year career and many albums. So sad that the world does not truly appreciate these guys.

Paul came up with this lovely song in 1998 as an explanation of the band's four years apart, and this specific concert is A-ha's farewell concert in Oslo Spektrum 12 years later, in 2010. Luckily they reunited in 2015, and are still touring. In 11 days I will see them in Stavanger, Norway. Can't wait.

Hi there AhkkariQ!I had seen them live in that farewell tour back in 2010 Nov.2010 in London Wembley.And damned, unfortunately due to proffesional reasons, I had already missed the chance to catch their fantastic RAHall concerts same year earlier with the symphonic orchestra and the marvelous stage lights,where they played songs from their first 2 albums only!Though Fan- made videos of those performances are all around the net i don't know if these magical gigs were officially filmed.Enjoy the gig in Stavanger(i'm sure you will).

@@alexioverdo5225 Life did not go quite as planned. The job as a teacher meant that I could not stand music in my spare time. I experienced it as noise, and with a man who does not care about music, I forgot all about a-ha. I have found my way back to them after I could no longer work for health reasons.

I saw them last year at Hollywood Bowl with the orchestra- it was truly unforgettable
I have been waiting for this for AGES, I remember hearing this on the radio in the UK. WOW Morten holds that last note so long.. Brilliant.
Their other extremely emotional hit, together with Hunting High And Low. Miraculous songs. Unforgettable.

I believe it was Hunting High and Low that you were remembering the similarities to. Haven't heard this song before, so it was a treat! Their recent album was a top quality product as well...Morten showing that he still has a great voice.

I was at the hairdresser today, here in Norway, and she was also at the concert in Paris that night. I told her I was going to see them in Stavanger next week, and she said "Rejoice!"
A-Ha umplugged take on me, juste énorme.
They actually tracked a 007 song. THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS is the song when you get to it.
Oh i LOVE that you also enjoyed this song. Aha are one of my fav groups. They can do no wrong and i never get tired of hearing them.

You should really listen to the studio production of this song someday. It's amazing and one of my favorite a-ha songs of all time. I personally always find it hard to judge a song simply based on a live version of it, since the band oftentimes changes up the instrumentation and pace. They obviously can't have an entire orchestra on stage. I have seen many Reactions-KZreadrs disliking a great song, just because they picked a shitty live version of it where the singer or the band didn't have their best day. I'm glad you chose this one and enjoyed it. This performance was from 2010 by the way, a-ha's farewell concert. They did however reunite in 2015.

I have really enjoyed watching you fall in love with a-ha recently! I fell in love in with their first album in 1985. Kind of lost track of them living in the States. No internet back then! I rediscovered their newer stuff this winter when I was snowed in and not going out due to omicron, so I’m kind of a newbie myself. 😎

I saw this live in Hamburg in 2000 it was incredible to watch and hear Morten hit that note for so long
One of my absolute best memories is being in the front row for this song, listening to him come off that long now and fly right back up into the rest of the chorus. I adore this song.

I hear they were all sick of each other and couldn't work together in the studio anymore (as you do after living in each other's pockets for all those years) but used technology to keep the music coming. They all do their parts separately in their own studios and mail it to each other. Yay for technology!

I haven't heard much of Aha except for their hit "Take On Me". His voice is simply amazing! I don't want to sound boastful, but I can hold a note just as long or longer! Practiced staying under water, in my bathtub, for a long time. Scared the heck out of my sister! lol

It is pretty easy to hold a note that long unless you're in front of a huge crowd of people! Then it is much more of a challenge!

You normally say if it was also hit in other countries, you said Norway but apart from that was also a hit single in: Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Germany + UK!

Simply brilliant estonished life performance of Morten. I have a live CD of A-HA, long time not heard in my car. I must find out if this exceptional version is on it. Morten has a unique voice and is a brilliant singer, with or without remastering. I'm a music fan, often better not know much about the biography. Last summer I couldn't sleep and saw a documentary, were shocked about the tension between the members Pal and Magne. that makes me so sad and speachless. Think about the films about Eagles, Queen and Elton John (a hope U2 do not this Netflik shit??? I don't want it know; is it the last act of the total sale???): reality? exaggeration? only commercial? Since then I can't hear a song neutral, specially the lyrics wihout remind me at these shit biography facts. Beg your pardon for this ending. Anyway I love the A-Ha music in my daily life, brings good vibes! I love the not reacted "Manhattan Skyline/voice acrobatic again" or "Touchy/so dancy, so sexy, feel 10 years younger" or "Dark is the night/so catchy-guitar!" or the cover "Crying in the rain" (all poppy, not more but also not less) or a ibit more demanding "Lifelines/so melancholic, Scandinavian super pics" or "Train of thought/unexpected" or "This is my home/MTV unplugged," MTV unpugged shows - specially also by the reacted songs like "Stay these roads" or "Hunting high and low" - how good and uniqe the band was and is

This note is probably much better kept in the official clip (I think it was listed in the Guinness Book but I still can't get a subscription higher than that of a supporter; I would have had so many pearls to submit to you for years 80 + 90, French or international as well as the elements relating to it but impossible. I think its my fav song by them. That or Hunting High and low. And its just amazing. A-ha have sold over 100 million records, but Still I feel they are very underrated. They are Beatles level band. I cant wait for the New album. You should react to the single of the New album "I'm In". And the album is named "True North" sort of a "love letter" to the beauty of Norwegian nature. Its coming in october. I think its being Released in the US also. They have moved from Universal to Sony now, so they are signed to RCA. And they have been touring USA This year so its def coming in the US also. I am curious for any American out There if you can listen to the post 2000 albums on Spotify or other now?
