“And that’s how I do it because this is my garden” yesssss Jess, that’s the only explanation needed! It’s YOUR garden, and we’re just here reveling in it (and admiring it) 🥰 just wanna say, that if you haven’t seen my comments prior, you inspire the heck out of me and I appreciate your content to the umpteenth degree 💚 you’ve motivated me to grow sooOooOoo many things I never thought I could. Started my very first outdoor garden bed last year, and adding to it this year. You’re inspiring and honestly a hidden gem here on KZread, that I’m so happy I found. Thankful for y’all and hope your family is well. All the love from central Ohio 💚💚💚
Received your book. My husband laughed cause the title of first time gardener! Gardened all my life off and on at 66 and retired enjoy it even more now. your book is one of the best I have seen. Congratulations. On this video When you talked about getting stressed out over your garden and now you don’t stress so much......you are officially now like every other seasoned gardener. Crap can happen in the best gardens. Lol. Mother Nature is in the drivers seat you just get to be the back seat driver and hope for the best. Lol. Love your channel.

I got your book five days ago and my Baker Creek seeds arrived yesterday. Hubby and I drove to Prosser to get horse manure . Why does this make me so happy? Watching this video while hubby changes the starter on the lawn tractor. Need that to haul manure. As soon as he is done, the fun begins. 😀

Pocket full of seeds. Heart full of sunshine. Shine on sweet Jess. 🌻💛☀️👩🌾
I'm just going to tell everyone how you can grow a really even hill of leaf lettuce.... Make you a hill ten inches wide and ever how long you need... Get you a quart storage bag and fill it half full of flour, put your lettuce seed in the flour, mix and shake the flower for a minute or so, spread the flour evenly over the hill, cover the white on your hill with loose dirt, just enough dirt to cover the white flour.... It will come up perfectly even... Its up to you to put the right amount of seed for your hill..

Zone 5b here too. I have onion seedlings and celery and a few other slow to grow under my LED banks and just started my cole crops for April. But oh yes! watching these videos are making my planting itch so bad lol But at the end of March and beginning of April ill get my tomato babies going. I've found for me little small tomato plants transplant so much better than bigger ones. They out pace bigger tomatoes and a gardener with more experience than me says the small ones experience less transplant shock.

In regard to the windchimes, which I also love!,to me they are like faith - just because you can't see the wind, or God, does not mean He isn't there. I say let the Lord sing to our hearts & soul and where better than the garden.
I have missed seeing Benjamin in the garden. Happiest of Birthdays to you tomorrow, Benjamin 🥳 I loved seeing the sunshine and hearing the chimes play.
I am in zone 7a, and I know when you and Jill start planting things, I need to plant the same (type of) things two weeks after.
Happy early birthday to Ben and Toby! I’ll be 61 on Sunday. Hope you all have a great weekend🙏🏻❤️

I planted radishes and turnips two days ago, and I already have little green sprouts poking through the soil... between that and the sunshine it has been amazing.
Loving the hair...reminds me of the early days
Sat down after a long day at school and this popped up. 😎
Every garden year makes wonderful new memories and so does each birthday! Happy Birthday Ben!!

Just wanted to say thanks Jess! Amazon finally deliver my pre-order of your book yesterday!!!!! So excited to dig into it! What great job on your first book. It's beautifully done. Huge win and great achievement. Looking forward to my new learning tool. Been waiting months and the time has ARRIVED just before we get to prepare for this years crop here in Michigan. I ended up with a purple radish from baker creek big mix and it was the nicest mild radish I've ever spring grown. But almost all of them when I planted in September for fall radish were very tender and mild
You know you have a gardening addiction when you find random seeds in your pant pockets lol hahaha this happened to me a couple days ago and I was thinking to myself oh I come more radishes I could sow!! Just sad hahaha

I was thinking the same thing. We must have very similar weather patterns.
"Nasty, mushy zombie plant" is now forever in my vernacular because I sent my sister a text this morining with a picture labeled "Minus 11 degrees (- 24 C.) turned my kale into a nasty, mushy zombie plant!" Thanks Jess!
We all love our imperfect gardens. Learning all the time from our garden and each other.
Jess, you showed up just when I needed this. Thanks, sister 💜
It makes my day when you upload a VLOG. I love the music from the wind chimes! My pre-ordered book hasn’t come in yet, I can see my daughter and I arguing over who gets to read it first, at least we’ll be able to look at the pictures together.
Happy birthday to Ben tomorrow -- 3/6 - Six years old! Okay... fessing up, here! Been gardening since Dad got me started in 1966 -- STILL MAKE LOTS OF MISTAKES!!! In 2019, I planted radicchio. Turns out... I don't like radicchio -- not even a little! Pulled them out and plan to give away the seeds. In 2020, I planted tromboncino squash. Turns out, this variety is too bland for my tastes. Don't plan to grow that one again! On the other hand, I love the Algonquian, Kabocha, Butternut, and Acorn squash varieties. Never tried collards. Growing "Yellow Cabbage Collards" for the first time this year. Agreed... you never know until you try! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA
Such a wise woman. Thank you for sharing your love of gardening.
love the sun shining in. u got my juices flowing to get going on my seed starts. Gotta hold off though, too cold up here. Maybe mid March I'll start when we're about 8 weeks from planting in the ground by the 3rd week of May. Love the videos, Chad in zone 5b up here in Ontario.

😆... As for the way a garden is planted, my husband is a very "lets plant in block form , my way can be best described as, controlled chaos lol 🍃🌿🌱😁... Loved the video ! Happy birthday Ben!
I use my garden to make memories. My kids helping to plant and harvest. Them grabbing a quick snack when they were out playing and did not think I was watching. My grand children planting their first plants and then harvesting and eating what they have grown.or planting flowers and watching them as they grow and bloom and the honey bees pollinating. It has been a great teaching tool. My garden is an area full of memories.
