Back in the B737 cockpit with Chief Pilot Tom on a 3-day trip!
Welcome to Flying with Big Ern! We head back to flying the B737 with another Cancun overnight! I’ll take you through another B737 cockpit setup and preflight. We also get an in-depth look at fueling up the B737 for the BWI-CUN leg. Chief Pilot Tom gives up some great motivation to keep flying and why he thinks it’s a good time to start training. Finally, we watch me get the IFR clearance in Cancun… and mess it up again lol! It was a great 3-day trip with Chief Pilot Tom, looking forward to flying with him again soon.
Hope you all enjoy it. Cheers!

Dude is an incredible brand ambassador for SWA. Even for things that aren’t always positive, he’s honest but looks at the positives. Fair, informative, positive. Love this dude.
Oh Man, It was super honor to meet you Erin at BWI as well as being part of your awesome video,, Really it’s a remarkable moment in my life I will gonna to keep it forever.. Update: I got my PPL and on Instrument now, Wishing one day to share a cockpit with you, who knows maybe happen 🤞😁 Hoping see you soon here at BWI.. Cheers 😎💐
SW allowing you to post videos of your work, featuring the airline, shows they have a lot of confidence in your ability to show SW in a good light.

My dad was a B 24 pilot in WWII. After the war he flew Constellations and B 707 for TWA. I used the GI bill to get my CPL in ASEL and rotorcraft and flew for the local PD for 8 years. No EFBs no GPS. Paper charts.
This was great! It was a treat to "meet" Mustafa and see the fueling operation. Congrats to him on his PPL progress!
Thank you for the segment with Mussafah! and thank you to all the support personnel that make our flights so enjoyable. Yes from a R182, SR22 up to the heavy iron 737 it is a team effort.
Absolutely tremendous channel! Appreciate your positive attitude and encouragement for future pilots!! Thank you!

It’s amazing watching pilots who have never met working well together - it’s a joy to watch pilots who know each other well and have formed friendships fly together. You refer to lots of laughter on a trip but you must find when there’s a problem on a trip that rapport really makes crew resource management so much better being friends?

Hi Daniel! Yes it's great when we get along with each other, and our hiring department does a great job of hiring for that, but in the end of the day we must all remain professional and accomplish the job safely. Regardless of the personal feelings toward each other. It's one thing that professional pilots do very well. Great question! Cheers!
I’ve made companion status with SW which by the way is the very best airline in the air for the last 10 years! I only fly SW and Delta if there is a destination where SW doesn’t fly. Love SW thank you guys for your hard work and sacrifices for being our pilots and flight attendants! I have every N number that I’ve flown on SW planes! It’s up to about 150-180 different planes and I fly out of KMCI! Thank you guys again for the safety and time you spend in the cockpit!!!!
Mustafa is the man! Love that guy's attitude!
Such great content Ern! Thanks for your effort making these videos!!!!

Love your attitude. Great to see your videos coming every week, looking forward to see next trip with Tom 😀
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to do this. It sure helps update my "days of the dinosaurs" stories in my books where I moan about having to verify all the multi-million dollar A320 computers from a "twenty-five cent" sheet of paper approach chart. ;-) Also - great to see you still have to keep the Old School ATC Clearance skills alive at Cancun. Back-in-the-day there was always a moment of stage fright at super-busy terminals like ORD where you knew you had to get it right and get the readback done fast 'cause a dozen others folks were listening in and waiting to mash their transmit button to get onto their own clearances. The eStuff certainly reduces the chances for error and the sense of urgency in that process. Once again - great video. I love your relaxed and informative style. These are the videos I wish I'd had for inspiration - "back in the day." Best regards. Captain Grant Corriveau (Air Canada retired)
Love watching your video Very fascinating and I’ve learned so much about what goes on in the cockpit. Keep up the great work Ern.

Loved the video!
I have flown all over Mexico (interior places like Aguas, Puebla and Monterrey) Due to so many US flights and how long these clearances take to read it seems they desperately need PDC. 17 Hour overnights are a dream! Mine are usually 12 but they are min rest by the time we get there many hours late :). Great video, thanks as always

Glad you like the pilot lounge at BWI, just passed my Instrument Check ride today and I'll be flying back home to BWI Friday!
Love the long vids!
if that positive energy and smile were sold in a bottle, it would not be on a shelf for long. love the videos. safe journeys to you.
Definitely gives someone like myself, who's about to start training this year, hope for the future.
Cancun clearances are the hardest to understand. The order in which they give it and the thick accents make it difficult. Good thing is they are laidback and asking them to repeat is not a problem. They are patient with us gringos
Great video! Wish I could meet you when you blow through Houston. I think the weather will be better this time.
Keep up the good work!
Awesome video, couldn’t help to notice the fuel-efficient MAX flexing in the background while the guy was taking about the amount of gas y’all were taking in the NG.😂 at 17:58

Much Love from UAX/C5 dispatch!!!
Great content it's great to see this inside look into the airlines! Something I've always wondered: For calculating weight & balance, do pilots/dispatchers use average weights per person? It would make sense that having the precise weight per person on a big airliner is less vital than on a small Cessna.
As everyone else says you seem really likeable guy. Just subscribed and love your videos.

This is a very interesting series. I’m from the northeast, so yeah, 41 is no problem! When I visit the southern states in cooler weather, I can always spot the southerners and northerners - the folks from the south are wrapped up in their coats, the northern folks are in the pool.
