1. Go to local flight school for discovery flight. 2. Get a medical 3. Focus on completing 1st solo. Then... you've just logged Pilot-in-Command, Solo hours, and are now a pilot.

That would blow my mind that in a week I could be in both Europe and North America multiple times over. Really awesome that you get to fly a 767 (one of my 3 favorite aircraft to ride on)! And thanks to United Airlines to allow a behind-the-scenes look at their flight operations.

@@jakobmatauschek7722 Time Away From Base. IOW, Time on the road. The hours that your car is in the crew lot. A high TAFB number means your wife and kids have no idea who you are. Your hobbies are on hold. You miss birthdays, anniversaries, weekend BBQs with your friends, etc. You seldom sleep in your own bed. You're AWOL. For most pilots, the goal is to minimize TAFB while maximizing your W2. Not to jam in as many trips through customs (and sleep-wrecking time zone changes) as possible.

We appreciate you working on the holiday... pilots often go underappreciated. Many dont realize that you dont get to always have holidays off. You have to willing give up seeing family and friends. Thank you for doing this. We appreciate you.

The glamorous tough life of a commercial pilot. I was flying to London on Christmas Eve, as a passenger of United and going back to Chicago by the end of January. Maybe we'll fly together 🤷🏼😀

I remember one time meeting a United pilot in Denver who sat in the left seat and who had flown for many many years. He was out as to who he was to everyone and no one had any issues with it including United. I could say the same thing about the other airlines in the US and that was 20 years ago. Glad that nowadays we have the platforms that allows everyone to see the realities of life and Swayne is of no exception. Many commercial airline pilots are retiring soon so there is a huge need for newer pilots. Some of the best flights I've ever flown were by female pilots, something unheard of back in the 70s. The times have changed and for the better. Thank you Swayne.

The only problem with Swaynes’ content is that it’s too short, excellent quality, hopefully we can see more in future..

I love the way you explain how the scheduling works and how you manage rest and off time. Keep having fun.

Talk about "Complexities"!! Wow! It's GREAT that you're telling us the real "Nuts & Bolts" of being a commercial pilot. It's clearly somewhat of a strain on personal and social activities. ✈

I always love watching your videos, Swayne! You inspire me so much. I’d love to see a video about the 757, if you can.

We used to do the same type of pattern at British airways, 4 transatlantic’s in 6 days, we called them back to backs. We were allowed to be rostered one in every 28 day period.

Your videos are great. I'm happy United has allowed you to continue these videos as your advance in your career!

This is the dream. I’ve been working toward being an airline pilot so that I can fly these routes!

The section where you spoke about the techniques to adjust to the time zone was interesting. I've never seen that addressed before. I might try to match the time in my time zone, but sleeping when tired would probably win out. Loved watching the recreational flights over the Alps. Thanks for sharing that.👍 Interesting video.

I am currently a Delta airlines AMT, I truly love what I do but my ultimate dream was to be a commercial airline pilot, suffered multiple medical setbacks during my PPL phase and home life I decided to let it go. Wow, my brother!!! That is all I have to say. Thank you sir. Starting my studying for my FAA written test in 5 months. I should be ready to take it in December. Plus, I'm scheduling my simulation practice at the same time. Everything should be ready for flight training in February of 2024 for the next 9 months. Should be ready for everything by October in 2023. Thank you for all the videos and encouragement. Currently, I'm reading "Anyone Can fly" by Jules Bergman. It is really good! Make anyone wants to take up flying lessons.

I used to live and work in Switzerland in the early 90’s. I was a regular on United 960/961 767 service to cdg. Then a Ual 727 to/from Geneva.

Thank you for sharing with the rest of the world the amazing experience of flying. Everything on your videos is just so interesting.
