As my music theory teacher once said: Bach’s music sounds amazing whether it is played on a majestic 10,000 pipe organ or a pair of coconuts.

Yup. Bach music is extremely forgiving that way. Mozart’s, for example, is not.

@@pedroivog.s.6870 You don’t sound dumb. Mozart can sound wonderful but he’s extremely interpretation sensitive. Played badly, Mozart’s music can sound like wallpaper, like background music. It can get boring. An Alberti bass (you may have to look that up) can get monotonous in the wrong hands. Bach sounds better if played well and better on the right instruments but the writing itself is bulletproof. It will sound like great writing no matter what you do to it. Bach is more harmonically interesting and more unexpected. If you listen to Mozart you can often tell what’s next. If you listen to Bach that’s not true because he constantly throws curves.

That paper would be too long to play a symphony and you would need a wider range of notes. But many great works are on a Regina disk. And you don't need to keep turning the Crank only to tighten up the spring. A Regina Is a beautiful instrument that came before the phonograph.

Hmmm, as a handweaver (at times), this reminds me of a draft, that is, the 'recipe' for making a fabric, in chart form. The maths in Bach's music is made visible in the patterns of the punched holes. A Jacquard or (I think) a Dobby loom would be able to use those same punched holes to create a patterned fabric... How interesting that would be, to see a visual representation of the music! As I have only a simpler 4-shaft floor loom, how could I 'transpose' this series of punched holes/notes into a weavable fabric, I wonder? I shall mull this over -- but probably get nowhere! Shame, but a lovely idea. As was the concept and production of this little machine. Bravo!
