Edgar Wright said that the original joke was to have two of the robbers have Halloween "Mike Myers" masks with the third arriving with a Austin Powers Mike Myers by mistake. Because of the upcoming Halloween reboot they were denied permission. They changed the gag to the scene above with the real Mike Myers blessing.

I can't help but notice how the suspenseful key we hear playing at the start of the scene only plays whenever baby isn't playing music to drown it out, yet another touch to the scene to clue us in on how he uses music to drown out the terrible nature of what he is doing.

it can also be seen as his tinnitus. I have it and there's usually some ringing going on so I keep earbuds in to drown it out.

I heard a theory that "Soldier Boy" is undercover security for that bank, which might explain why he had those guns in his truck and why he was so dead set on catching them.

As someone has mentioned, I have a feeling "Soldier Boy" was a retired vet who turned to become a security personal for banks and cash vans. As the crew were getting highly known to rob banks and vans across Atlanta, the security firm hired more and more ex-vet who can handle themselves in stressful and under gunfire to rid of these said robbers. "Soldier Boy" himself was probably one of the plainclothes laying in ambush and await for robberies to happen and he just chanced upon Baby and the crew. That's why as they escape, he could nail them that quickly and even rocking a whole array of weapons that normal civilians could never have. Look... Having an MP5K in the civilian market isn't impossible as by the time the show was filmed, Century Arms were already rolling out the SP5 which is the civilian version of the iconic HK MP5 but it's in semi-auto mode only, However, to have a full-auto MP5 and it's variant, you'll have to have a Class 3 license which allows someone to hold fully-auto weapons as a civilian and despite that, Class 3 license are not easily obtainable as you'll have to be in the gun industry to own one or have a firm that deals with guns to own one. Not any Tom, Dick or Harry can walk into the municipal building and just register for one, not even if you're a Medal of Honor veteran. For Soldier Boy to even have a fully-auto MP5K, he'll have to be 1) A criminal himself who modifies semi-auto weapons into full-auto like the rest of Doc's crew or 2) He's working in a security firm that has access to such full-auto weapons and he has one with him, concealed for his undercover security missions and sting operations, just nice for the MP5K. And such things wasn't unheard of. Even before middle America got modernized and urbanized, it wasn't unheard of of Wells Fargo employing gunmen during the Wild West period to be coach security or even act as customers in a coach, let out news of the fake coach being rich customers, wait for the robbers to rob said coach only for the undercover gunmen to gun the robbers down or nab them and hand them to the sheriffs.

As someone who is very familiar with the parts of the metro Atlanta area that this scene was filmed in, I just love how this scene transitions immediately from Dunwoody to Atlanta within seconds when both cities are no fewer than fifteen minutes apart, depending on the traffic.

That part cracks me up every single time!!!!

I love how so many people seem to think the vet was an undercover security guard rather than the fairly obvious conclusion that he was just a veteran who via his years of anticipating trouble was able to identify 4 men rolling up to a bank the way they did as suspicious. The movie takes place in Georgia, a very gun friendly state with plenty of dudes who pack heat just waiting for somebody to give them a reason. Was the MP5K unrealistic? Maybe, but it's not illegal to own one (so long as it was made before 1986), just remarkably expensive. Regardless, the writers weren't going around thinking about the legal nuances of the National Firearms Act or what weapons would be most realistically carried, rather simply depicting the most bombastic yet believable depiction of American gun culture they could imagine to throw in as an obstacle.

If I was at the bank and 3 guys ran in with Mike Myers masks on I'd probably piss my self from laughter

I really loved this movie before, but whoa, with a newborn of my own, my heart climbed into my throat rewatching the mom scene. I'm so glad Baby was a good guy and took that bit of time to finagle the kid out of that carseat and hand him over to the mom while the other goons were still stumbling their butts over to the car.

The funniest part is how they actually waited for Baby to give the go.

I always thought that guy is an undercover guard. An ordinary citizen crazily pursuing heavy armed robbers doesn't make any sense

Every single scene in the movie involving anything connected to cars is just soaked in adrenaline, if someone made a list of top 10 movie car chases, this movie could fill multiple places. Edgar Wright is an artist.

The best part is in the car he says “I left my shotgun behind” and Jamie goes “what?” That’s how real life works we never in those situations hear something first time and it makes it realistic like “what??” And repeat of 2nd time is just good film making

The cleverness of this movie went over a lotta peoples heads, and thus is low key brilliant!!!!...

I don't think any movie has EVER incorporated a soundtrack as better as this film.

Next time, the boss has to be a little more specific. Because Michael Myers and Mike Myers maybe 2 different men but it’s definitely the same name!

It doesn’t help that people who don’t watch many horror movies still confuse Michael with Jason. Speaking as someone who watches horror movies on the regular and even dressed up as Michael for Halloween one time, my mother got confused when I told her I was dressed up as him and thought that I was Jason.

As much as I love this scene, am I the only one thinking “man, Soldier guy’s insurance is gonna sky rocket after shooting up half a dozen cars and endangering a ton of people only to destroy his truck and expect at least a year of intensive physical rehab.” Yup….I’m that guy

@@dIancaster It's not a 'myth', the movie accurately depicts real-world data, that owning a weapon makes you more likely to be a victim of homicide. As the movie shows, the good guy with a gun is often wholly ineffective at stopping the bad guy and generally gets themselves killed.
