Truly incredible footage. Thank you so much for sharing with us! We were fortunate to be able to see the nest of a Cardinal family through an upstairs window, but were unable to get a good look at the fledglings. It was fascinating to watch the parents take turns feeding them. We noticed when the male was finished, he'd call his "wife" & wait for her before leaving. We never heard the female sing. We were so fascinated by the whole process that of course, we had to do some research to learn more! Thank you, again!

I found an abandoned baby Cardinal in the middle of the street. Circumstances prevented me from leaving him so I took him home, expecting him to die within 2 days. That was over 2 months ago. We have released him numerous times. However he keeps coming back. I do a daily Facebook post that has over 300 readers. One of his “fans” gave him a massive cage that is in our sunroom. The doors stay open and he enters and exits as he wishes. He is perched on my iPad as I’m typing this. I think he plans to stay.

I went out to my garden shed where cardinals had built their nest in my hanging basket. Protected them as much as I could, kept cats away made it virtually impossible for anything to get in there but a bird I didn't even go into the garden shed for about three weeks. This is really my studio....and progress on everything had to cease by golly we got baby birds being made in there. Been watching the babies for probably 11 days, the garden shed is virtually surrounded by Mexican sunflowers and my garden with feeders water and every thing to accommodate a bird and their family (what bird could ask for more) I enjoyed working in my garden listening to the parents talk about what they are going to feed the younguns so to speak. Went out today and peaked through the screen, THEIR GONE..... :( First I was petrified that something ate them.... But I am sure that momma and daddy has taken them to higher ground. Would like to know where they made the nest. What kind of bush/tree. I found a young one yesterday and the parents were around and mad/anxious, but I couldn’t find the nest. I know they often nest lower in protected bushes, but it was well hidden. Baby was probably around 7 or 8 days old. Took to a rehabber so hopefully he makes it!

They were in the nest looking like the fledglings in this video on day ten earlier today and now the nest is empty tonight. I did research and they leave the nest this early, the parents still care for them for about another week and they can fully fly within a couple of days of leaving the nest

How you can keep bird in garage? They have to be freely hovering in the sky!... if you truly love them--- give them freedom. I see a lot of measurable looking animals in the pet store in the small cages.... hhh

Just FYI, it's illegal to catch, kill or keep (cage) a cardinal

@@lilyk5670 - ? did you not read Jake B's entire post? Baby likely fell out of the nest nearby & hopped into the garage. The parents are still caring for him until he can fly out on his own. I don't think Jake B is holding him hostage.
Lovely 😍
Good parents
DaD Cardinal colors 😍😍
Got two growing in front of my trailer, momma bird always scares the shit out of me when she runs away
this is happening in my blue spruce right now !, 4-5 adorable babies need constant food.
I have a little family in my oak tree. I watched them build the nest and try to teach their first one how to fly. Sadly a snake got it. It was so horribly sad, but I am happy they have a new little one.

Thanks for the video I found a two baby cardinals in my yard one on the ground and one still in the nest the mother was laying on the ground dead with full of 🐜 so I buried the mom now taking care of the baby’s. Now with this video I have an idea how old they are. I need more info of how to take care of them besides google
That was a nice video, I enjoyed it! What kind of camera did you use, and how did you secure it in the tree/ bush?

Beautiful Video! I have a cardinal pair that has been nesting in my yard for the last 3 years. Unfortunately I've been seeing a lot of outdoor cats stalking around in my yard near my feeders and trying to catch the birds. I'd be heartbroken if something happened to my cardinal pair or their babies so I hope yours fledged!
Hello, Who's licensing this footage on your behalf. I wish to include this footage in TV programme. Cheers, Martin

So they're ready to leave the nest after only 12 days! Or did something happen?
At first I thought that was angry birds 😂
😍😍😍
I have never been able to find a Cardinal nest, they hide them so well.
woahhhhhh....are those white sacks their "poop"? That is so bizarre. is the video sped up, or does their poop come out that fast?

i found two that are fully feathers execpt for under the wings i put them in a bucket hanging from a basketball hoop hoping that the parents would come back. were they fledging?
Very informative, my wife and I just found a baby cardinal on the road, his parents tried to grab him but with no luck, we tried to look for his nest but with no luck, we aren't near any rescues and the ones we did find are closed due to Corona so now we are hand feeding this cutie mealworms dipped in water every half hour, if anyone has any advice please!!

Chris Draws I have the same problem. I googled it but not much info. I have two baby’s watching this video they are about five to six days old. Need more info
Daddy does the feeding too
Is "empty nest syndrome" just another term for "the chicks have fledged"? - or does it mean something more sinister as "syndrome" suggests?
My baby's when I feed them worms, there happy
I found a cardinal nest only once and it was very hard to get to. I tried to see the eggs (back before google) but has daddy divebombing me so I left them be
why empty nest what happened ???
What is empty nest syndrome mean? Did they get eaten by a predator?
Are those baby birds pooping and then the parents are eating it after they feed them

What happened on the 12 day?
It is so hard to find cardinal nests here. I've literally on seen two in my entire life. And there's plenty of cardinals around. No lie!

I always make my Sparrows fledge early by accident. Somehow I either walk by or the dog walks by and every year like clockwork I have 5 fat furry birds waddling around my backyard... I leave the parents a plate of mealworms and wetted cat food that they feed them with. This year I might steal the chubbiest one

@Yuliana Contecha ] Crows love to hang out by the nesting grounds. We have a Cardinal nest in our bush tree. Right out our front door, and watch them daily. This is about day 6 right now, and crows are around. I hear crows sounding off all over the place. Many birds are about to leave the nest around here. Crows are the REAPER!!!

Actually I’ve come to find out that Cardinal fledglings leave the nest at 9-12 days after being born. I have been observing a nest in my backyard and they left today. They were in the nest looking like the fledglings in this video on day ten earlier today and now the nest is empty tonight. I did research and they leave the nest this early, the parents still care for them for about another week and they can fully fly within a couple of days of leaving the nest
It's sad to say this but I'm pretty sure that these three babies ended up in a crow's stomach. They were not ready to fly yet at day 12.😔
