    The way I understand it is, Baal is the fertility god and he was defeated by Yam that represents the stormy water. He is also dismembered, scattered and reassembled like Osiris. It's basically symbolizing the seasons moving from summer and fall to winter and back again.

    @@rcasey81 Jesus was mortal. He did not exist nor did anyone care he existed until he went rogue from Judaism. Baal and the Canaanite pantheon are much older than the bible or even the false mono god you worship. Praise be to Zeus, Jupiter, Baal who’s managed to survive even through the slander of Judaism, Christendom, and Islam’s desecration of his idols. Cursed forever shall Longinus be for giving mercy to Jesus Christ when he deserved to rot in the sun during his crucifixion for defying the glory of Jupiter and the rest of the Roman Pantheon.

    Baal being associated with lightning and fire may be parallel to the Hindu god Agni being associated with those too. Baal's name may also be cognate to the Gaelic god Bel and the Germanic god Balðraz, both of whom are gods of fire like Baal, meaning that Baal may be of an older, Indo-European origin much like the goddess Ishtar from the same area.

    *The Canaanite pantheon was conceived as a divine clan, headed by the supreme god El; the gods collectively made up the Elohim. Through the centuries, the pantheon of Canaanite gods evolved, so that El and Asherah were more important in earlier times, while Baal and his consorts came to fore in later years.* Some of the deities listed below are mentioned only briefly in the Canaanite texts, while others were important locally or nationally-such as Chemosh-but not throughout the region. Still others, such a Moloch, are known mainly from Hebrew texts *Anat* -goddess of war, ever-virgin sister-wife of Baal, honored as a protector, agent of vengeance, and bearer of life *Asherah* -early semitic Mother goddess, "Lady of the sea," *consort of El,* also called Athirat, *the mother of 70 gods* Astarte-goddess of love and fertility, sometimes the consort of Baal/Hadad Baalat or Baalit-the chief deity of Byblos, also identified with Astarte and Aphrodite *Ba'al* -meaning "Lord," god of rain, thunder, and fertility, sometimes synonymous with Hadad; also used as a title prefixing the names of local deities Baal-Hammon-god of fertility and renewal in the Phoenician colonies of the Western Mediterranean *Chemosh* -the national god of Moab, referred to in both Moabite and Hebrew texts *Dagon* -god of crop fertility, sometimes identified with Hadad *El* - *the chief deity,* god of the sky, *father of many lesser gods* and ruler of the divine assembly, *also worshiped by the Israelites* *El Elyon* -Special title of El as *"God most High"* Eshmun-Phoenician god of healing Kathirat-a group of goddesses appearing in the Ugartic texts as divine midwives Kothar-full name Kothar-wa-Khasis, the skilled, clever god of craftsmanship and weapon-making Lotan-the seven-headed sea serpent or dragon, the pet of Yam or Yam's alter ego, *related to the biblical Leviathan* Melqart-also called Baal-Melkart, the god who is king of the city, the underworld, and the cycle of vegetation in Tyre, *also the patron of the Israelite queens Jezebel and Athaliah* Moloch-title for the god who is "king," probably identical with Milcom and known mainly from the Hebrew Bible as the deity to whom child sacrifices were offered *Mot* -god of the underworld, sterility, death, and the waterless desert Nikkal-goddess of fruit and orchards, married to Yarikh Qadeshtu-the Holy One, goddess of love, also a title given to Asherah and related to the Egyptian goddess Hathor Resheph-God of plague and healing Shalim and Shachar-twin gods of dusk and dawn Shamayim-the god of the sky or the heavens *Shemesh* -Mesopotamian god of the sun also worshiped in Canaan, meaning "sun" in Hebrew possibly related to the hero, Samson Tanit-Phoenician lunar goddess, worshiped as the patron goddess at Carthage, and sometimes identified with Astarte or Anat Yam-god of the sea Yarikh-god of the moon, *after whom the city of Jericho was named;* Lord of the sickle, provider of nightly dew; married to the goddess Nikkal *Yahweh* -The Israelite god, worshiped not only by the Hebrews *but also by eastern Canaanites such as the prophet Balaam (Numbers 22) and the Shashu of Edom* *Further, most Israelite cities were named after the gods in El’s assembly.* The god *Anat* was honored in the city of Anathoth, the place of origin of the prophet Jeremiah. The god *Dagan* (Dagon) in Beth-Dagan. The god *El* in Beth-El. The god *Shamash* (Shemesh) in Beth-Shamash. The god *Shalimu* in Jerusalem.

    He was the serpent that the son of man will crush the head of as prophecized in Genesis. Nimrod worship took these prophecies and applied them to himself, so he was the crusher of the serpent....you can see this in this myth, that he crushed the serpent of the sea. So there's satan. You also see God, being El, the creator god, pushed into background. This myth is reported all over the world with the father-son both being married to mother, the queen of heaven, the myths of being killed by wound in heal where serpent bites in the prophecy, the god giving up eye to gain wisdom, see Horus/Oden. Their ceremonies are frequently mentioned in the old testament, like sacrifice of children in fire, celebrations at midsommar, vine's harvest, harvest, beginning of summer, and winter solstice where they put candles on trees, which old testament said not to do. Also circular dancing, especially around a pole (like may day), cutting yourself, and the mourning of when the god, baal died and reborn as his own child.

    Just by the intro alone, I am reminded of when Moses when up the mountain to receive the law, how the people near the mountain erected the golden calf idol. I began thinking of cosmic geography in the bible. I always wondered where did the people get the idea and image of the golden calf? Well, quite simply the image of that god was already there because the people of God were on a quest to conquer the land of Canaan, not to live in it or serve their gods. God's people could not see Him, but they could see the calf, thus replacing worship due to God alone.

    Age of taurus was the time of the exodus. The significance is very dynamic and of importance in every way. Egyptian mystery is built into their pyramids and the mountain of Taur or (bull) is the very name for the giza pyramids. The strength of the bull they said would reside in Egyptian kings and pharaohs and citizens who mastered their religious disciplines of self discipline and self governance just as freemasons do and practice their modern spiritual mysteries and the mountain of taur the bull was worn at the waist of Orion who was not called Orion but was believed to be the place where the kings of the earth would go in the afterlife and reign. They wore the strength of their vain boasting around their waists their man made mountains. Moses said to Israel know this that Adonai, your YAH IS as a Father to you all this day. Israel believed the taurus stars represented only the strength of YAH. And satan poisoned the minds of those who left Egypt with wonders and signs to believe that their YAH was that Golden Calf, and we know the SON IS YAH for us in Christ, and satan is the prince of the world, the imposter. Idolatry is part of the mystery of lawlessness to this very day.

This eventually led to the vilification of Set in Egypt due to the Semetic tribes occupying Egypt and worshiping Set as Baal.

    @@a1obbr630 No... Each city in ancient Canaan had its "Baalim", the city God who presided over the inhabitants by means of a covenant. The canaanites believed in a common pantheon. But each city looked upon their chosen God as if it was the supreme God. They were Henotheists. They believed in many gods, but they worshipped one god each, whom they saw as superior to the others. The cities warred against each other very often, and they believed that their Baalim fought their enemy's Baalim alongside its people. Once a city was victorious, the defeated god was seen as inferior and subjugated alongside its people. It happened with the israelites multiple times, and they too believed in this practice. The Canaanites also believed that if their Baalims were displeased or angry at their chosen people, they would allow the enemies to conquer their cities. We know of this thanks to the Mesha stone, found in the ruins of the city of Moab. In this stele, wich mirrors biblical interactions with yahweh, the king of Moab praises the god Moloch for freeing the city, and rejoiced at the fact that the tirannical Israel has been subdued and their GOD kidnapped from his home and destroyed. This belief was shared by the israelites too. "Baal" is not a name, it's a title of power. It means MASTER. The names of the Baalims were attached to this title: -Baalhadad -Baalchemos -Baalpheor -Baalyahweh Etc etc. The Israelites were Henotheists like everyone else. When the Persians freed Canaan from the terrible rule of the mesopotamians, they influenced the religions of the various nations of Canaan. Some were influenced more than others. Many Canaanites stopped eating dogs, sacred to the Persians, while the Israelites evolved their beliefs and made them more symilar to those of the monotheistic Persians. Yahweh was sincretized with El and Ahura Mazda, most gods were rejected, and the remaining ones POSSIBLY became some of the known angels. tho it's more plausible that they were Israelised versions of the Persian Amesha spentas, wich are basically angels. And that's the thesis... Now I go drink boooze. 👋👋👋

    *He Who Rides On The Clouds 🌥:* Baal is a western Semitic title that means Master or Lord. While it can actually refer to a large number of different deities, Baal in this case refers to *Hadad,* the Canaanite and Syrian god of rain, fertility, life, agriculture and thunder, particularly popular in *Ugarit and Aleppo.* He was worshipped in many ancient Middle Eastern communities, who considered him one of the most important gods in their respective local pantheons. He was at least in part derived from the Sumerian god Ishkur, but their character differed substantially; while Ishkur represented the destructive power of storms, the western Semitic Baal was the master of *life-giving rains vital for farmers.* Thanks to his huge influence, Baal was designated as the universal god of fertility, and in that capacity his title was Prince, Lord of the Earth. He was also called the Lord of Rain and Dew, the two forms of moisture that were indispensable for fertile soil in Canaan In Ugaritic and Hebrew, Baal's epithet as the storm god was *He Who Rides on the Clouds.* In the Baal (Lord) Cycle he's frequently called "Aliyan Baal" or "Baal, the victorious." In Phoenicia, he was called Baal Shamen, Lord of the Heavens. In Syria, hail was seen as a phenomenon closely related to him. He was also the king of the gods, and, to achieve that position, he was portrayed as seizing the divine kingship from *Yam (or Yaw "YHW"), the sea god, described as a tyrannical ruler.* Baal was probably also regarded as the *source of royal authority for human kings*, and myths and prayers depict him as an *ally and protector of humans.* In his main myth, the so-called Baal Cycle, Baal was locked in mortal combat with Mot, the personification of death and sterility. If Baal triumphed, humanity would thrive; but, if he were to be vanquished by Mot, humans would suffer and their crops would wither away. While the myths present a decisive conclusion to the conflict, some scholars assume it was believed to repeat in cycles. Like many deities of the ancient Near East, Hadad was always represented in a horned headdress. In art, he's often shown holding a club and thunderbolt or two clubs. While Mesopotamian depictions of the storm god and the famous Baal stele depict him as a typical bearded Near Eastern god, many Canaanite depictions are instead more similar to Egyptian warriror gods and beardless. Baal was also frequently associated with bulls. The bull was a widespread symbol of divinity in ancient Mesopotamia and areas infuenced by it. Other storm gods from cultures closely related to that of ancient Canaan, like Hurrian Teshub and Hittite Tarhunna, were depicted very similarly to Baal in art, and their myths shared many similarities as well. The Egyptian god Set in his generally positive aspect as a god of foreigners was also associated with Baal, taking his role in the Egyptian adaptation of the Yam (Yaw) narrative. Baal is usually associated with the goddesses Ashtart (commonly called "the Face of Baal," indicating particularly close bond between these two deities), a western Semitic equivalent of Ishtar, and Anat, both of who are often interpreted as his consorts. Anat is also called Baal's sister, though it's unclear if they share the exact same parents, as in Ugaritic texts Baal calls two separate gods, El (the husband of Asherah) and Dagan, his fathers. Whether the two fathers were one and the same or if one of these was simply a courtesy title indicating superior status is a matter of scholarly debate, though cultic rather than mythical texts regard Dagan as separate from El. The name Baal, or Ba'al, is used as a substitute of Hadad in some ancient texts and in common modern usage. This is possibly derived from the fact that in ancient Canaan only priests were allowed to utter the divine name, in much the same way as in Judaism where only priests were allowed to utter the name of God, so common people simply referred to him as Baal. It's also possible the title was eventually deemed to be integral to Hadad's cult it functionally became his main name. The word ba'al and its plural form were also used in the Hebrew Bible to refer to cult images, and in this context they were regarded as false gods. *Because of this, several demons were derived from Baal, including Bael and Beelzebub.* Many of the most famous biblical references to Baal, for example the tale of *Jezebel, are related to the traditions of the cities of Sidon and Tyre,* where the title of Baal was applied to *deities other than Hadad.* (Neither Elijah nor Jezebel were good for Israel 🇮🇱 in this story)

    It would seem that Ba'al takes on aspects of the Proto-Indo-European skyfather. ala Zeus/Dyeus Patr/Jupiter. The head of the bull recalls for me the Bull of Heaven from Sumerian literature. Curious that he would have the bestial aspects attached, rather than them being two separate entities. I wonder if perhaps Egyptian mythology had anything to do with that.

Pan, Cernunnos, Baphomet. It's kind of amazing how cultures that barely interacted managed to have such similar deities. But Ba'al is Bull-headed, so why was he drawn as a goat-man for the whole episode?

    One thing that gets me is how people talk about Jezebel as if she was real. There is no archeological evidence shown that such a person ever existed. Not to mention ancient tablets we have found show that both Ba’al and YHWH fulfilled the same role originally. Both we’re worshiped as war and storm gods, and like many storm gods of the time, as fertility gods.

    “Baalim” does mean that the deity has different forms or it can manifest itself into different forms. The word or suffix “Im” is the plural of respect in Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, and other Middle Eastern languages. For example, in Hebrew, the translation of the word “Elohim” in English would be “Gods” but no Jew in 4000 have worshiped more than one God. “Elah” means God but when you add the suffix “im” it becomes plural, not plural of numbers but it is a plural of respect.

  • @arturhashmi6281

    @arturhashmi6281

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@jello__0113 It's actually pretty hard to translate for english speaking person, if you are one, because they have 2 exactly the same pronouns for you (singular) and you (plural), in most of languages there are 2 different words for those. This "plural of respect thing", which was eg. commonly used in communist Russia was a weird form, when they spoke to one person, they were doing it in plural form, nobody knows why, but until this day, some of people laugh about it or think about their traumas. Anyway in the late antiquity, Augustin for example, interpreted this plural form, as a proof of the holy trinity in Torah, i know that in Quran this "royal we" / "plural of respect" is common, but it is hard to say for sure about bible, because as the name suggests, it is compilation of books, created by various people, existing in different time and believing in different thing. We know eg. that for the long time, Jews believed in other Gods, but did'not worshiped them, it was common kind of henotheism in Levant, they were times, when Salomon's temple was full of idols and JHWH stood next to his wife Ashera, his brother Baal and his father El, there were times when the first one, was syncretized with the last one and probably with his wife too. When you read the bible in english today, you can not see the difference between: JHWH, El, Elohim (plural), Adon, Adonai (plural), you will see only: God/Lord etc. It's interesting how culture transform itself.
