yeah most fourth gen vocalists aren't that good. nmixx and aespa are the only two groups with good vocalists in the fourth gen. some other groups such as stayc have their main vocalist very low. sieun is typically ranked in the E range. the loona spinoff group loossemble's main vocalist (hyunjin) would be ranked F+ or E-.

@@Unknown..777 yunjin and haram are still pretty good especially for fourth gen. but sullyoon kyujin winter giselle are better than even some of the other groups main vocalists like the few you mentioned (like miyeon minnie liz hanni lia sieun) which is why aespa and nmixx have good vocals all around not just the main vocal

@@jianacore So, vocal tiers were made up by a guy who has a blog to analyse MAIN VOCALS of 2nd and 3rd gen groups. He generally bases it on supported range, with other things like the development of the 3 main vocal registers, vocal placement, and vocal agility. The term 'average' was used for anyone who was an average 2nd or 3rd gen main vocal. It generally means an idol can use all 3 registers up to an acceptable standard and support a good range. (The range they need to support to be considered average varies and can get confusing) Above average and higher generally means a larger supported range, better placement in higher notes, and more development in other registers. The letter tiers (A-F) came from nowhere and mean nothing as there are no criteria for them. The reason I'm not a big fan of KVA is because of its emphasis on supported range when support quality is undoubtedly the most important thing in singing (followed by vocal placement, supported vocal range and development in multiple registers) and the fact he would change his criteria just to favour a couple of his favourite 2nd gen groups.

Taeyeon is B+. B+/A- doesn't exist, don't use double tier. She isn't even highest B+ lol Solar is B-. She never achieved resonance. Wheein is C+ now. she was B- but regressed. you need to include current her tier If you include current yuju. Lily is B-. she lacks development in mid range.

@@ptmr9010 gurl you don't understand kva system correctly. higher supported range≠higher tier. Lily has consistent D5/Eb5 and E5 best, but it's not important. Her mid range is clearly weak to pass the thresholds for AA-P. Especially Her vowel shaping is quite underwhelming. Even haewon has fuller and more open mid range. I'll show you some example. Doyoung from NCT has A4 but still Low AA. Eunkwang from BTOB has A4 too, but he is Proficient. Prime D.O. from EXO has A4/Bb4 but still AA-P. Chen from EXO has A4/Bb4 too, but he is P-G. Nayul from 12DAL has Eb5/E5 but still proficient. Hyolyn from sistar has Eb5/E5 too, but she is P-G. It shows supported range isn't important. You should only focus SUPPORT QUALITY.

1 octave isn't great. I can't tell if you are talking about supported range or chest voice. Since females should be easily singing into the 5th octave with their full vocal range (head voice). If you are just talking chest voice, you are most likely a mezzo soprano.

​@@GuinevereYT it's hard to predict. I hope they improve but to jump that much is rare. Even Exo main vocalists who still train with vocal teachers barely jump their rank even after 10 years. Although 2nd gen SM show some miracles like Taemin from deaf tone to B tier and Suju vocal line who's weaker than Exo vocal line when they debut but showed massive improvement from C tier to A tier.

@@Mulukan57 Sohyang get from C+ in her first television debut in 2000, to S in around 2007 just by 7 years progress, and she was fully self-taught vocalist that time until now, she never have a true vocal coach except 5 lesson from Seth Riggs around 2010. Vocalist that can improve much like Sohyang is very rare, but its not impossible..

@@ryanlee3514 no no. Why would Seohyun be better? She isn't even close to Taeyeon. Taeyeon's regression is in her mid belts which was her strongest register. Now they are more nasal, tensed, & never resonant. I guess it's because her stylistic choices but I don't know.
