Thank you for that. He will be missed.
My grandfather also flew a b24. He flew his 35 missions, then re upped because one of his waste Gunners had been injured during a bail out due to a sabotaged aircraft that was doomed on take off. He wanted to make sure he kept his promise to every one of his crew and bring them all back. There were 9 other planes and crews that crashed and burned, he was able to get enough altitutde and ditch. This won him a distinguished flying cross. So consequently he flew 70 combat missions, to make good on his promise. He made it back, but I never got the chance to meet him. He died at the ripe old age of 29 from a pancreatic hemmorige. My point for this wall of text is that this guy is living history. There aren't many more of these guys on Earth. Truly amazing.
Special man from a special generation. As a Brit, God bless you sir.
These are absolutely golden. This is the only way that most young people will get to meet the people who saved their world.
Wow,, an hour that past entirely too quickly. United States Air Force Pilot, 1st Lt. Roberto Ruiz, an American Patriot. It was absolutely an honor to listen to his stories of friendship, comradery, sacrifice, serving America and fighting for Freedom.
No wonder Windy was welling up at the intro to be in the presence of this great American still with us , still working to keep America Great. So wonderful !

Thank you for your service Mr. Ruiz.
A real close look at what these boys endured for our freedom almost 80 years ago; He's a true American Hero
This is my favorite bomber!
from this guys demeanor I bet he would have made a great fighter pilot
Great guy. He reminds me just a bit of Frank Costanza.
America IS Great because of Windy. Way before Windy was "welling up". First the civilians supported them. I don't blame him for avoiding the "trenches"... please don't politicize his contributions. So many lessons from this generation!
Turned it off when he said that he didn't want to be on the ground and then added that what he chose was more dangerous. Tell that to an audience of Grunts.

I think he meant he didn’t want to be stuck in the war, he wanted to go to war and come back to England. Also the numbers support what he said about bomber missions being more dangerous. Suck it up buttercup.

@@mountainguyed67 No doubt the pilots in Europe had a higher casualty rate than any other units in the war. More than D-Day, more than any island in the pacific. He didn't want the trench warfare like WWI, he didn't say he chose it because it was more dangerous, but it turned out that it was, no Grunt who knows the history would disagree.
