Thank you for your service! Your experiences brought back many of my own experiences during that time. I was an aircraft electrician at Udorn from June 72 thru June 73 working on the F4s. Linebacker II! We were told to prepare for a maximum effort. We were given 2 weeks to get every plane in flying order. All passes were nullified. 12 hour workdays that turned into 14 to 16 hour days. Linebacker II kicked off on the 12/18. 24 hour a day sorties. I remember crew chiefs packing speedbrakes with foil packs. I saw the laser designators and laser bombs loaded. The MigCap pilots told us about the SAM shotgun launches. Udorn lost one F4. I remember Marines coming to our base from their jungle location to use our repair facilities - and to visit the NCO club. Udorn had a sapper attack in October. A flood of memories!! Thank you!!

Early SA-75 Dvina variant cost was 9.5M Rubles an done V-750 missile cost was 217k Rubles. In that era in the USSR counted in 1 USD = 1 Ruble parity. Cost of a single 57 mm S-60 AAA gun in early '60s was 178k Rubles and the SON-8 radar about 400k. A full S-60 regiment had 4x SON-9 and 4x6 S-60. Cost of the MiG-21F-13 was about 3.5M Rubles. The first MiG-21 variant with 4xAAM was the MiG-21MF which never used in Vietnam only F-13 and PF with 2xR-3S (AA-2A Atoll). Total MiG-21 shipment was about 150 airframe (F-13, PF, PFL) from 1969 MiG-19P copy the J-6 in total 56 airframes,

Roy does some of the best presentations on this channel, he is so humble as well. G. Pat Macha is also another amazing presenter. Please post movie videos by either of these gentlemen. Also the test pilot on the F-22 project, I think he was also an engineer in the B-2 program, I can’t remember his name. He is excellent. (Edit: Tom Morgenfield, is the name of the guy above. Lockheed year pilot, maybe it was the SR-71 he flew?) Also love Maury’s stories about the blackbird. Cindy is also great. She is very pretty and has an awesome job with and amazing knowledge of aircraft and the manufacture of them.

Hello! 'Mission success seriously hampered,' Many people in the US Government planning the Missions, American, South Korean and Australian observers back home did not want the Vietnamese hurt too much ie: are glad the Route Pack Six bombers avoided bridges, airfields, ports and bridges. Makes it hard for soldiers though and this is acknowledged. Flying F4's would have been interesting work. As the 'weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was a conspiracy (ie: a flagrant US , Australian and British perjury) that convinced millions in the US that Bagdad et al had to be bombed severely... outside observers saw that but could not convince anyone about our mistake. Now Iraq is a failed State and ISIS contributes to the Iraqi peoples woes, we hope Americas amazing US pilots can defeat ISIS and one day speak to us here! Another terrific presentation from pilot's who were in Vietnam and Iraq!

To have or does not have a gun was not so big issue. The F-8 Crusader had it and only 3.5 (one was Zuni + cannons) kills were achieved by guns the rest (about 17) were AIM-9 kills.

I would say that an additional 17 percent kill increase is a big issue.

Did the EC-121 really have a look-down radar? I've read that it had a horizontal-looking or "look-up" radar, and flew at such a low altitude over the sea to get a good look in over North-Vietnam, that the air crews had problems with hyperthermia (heat from valve tube technology combined with high ambient temperature and humidity). And sometimes brought medics or doctors along due to this. -- However, I might be wrong regarding when look-down radars were fielded?
