MFW the new French ships, in *2023*, couldn't stick to the speed and/or manual control gimmick of earlier French designs (other than Clem), and instead we have RNG skills. Wow, the designs are amazing, but the ships kits are soooo dated.

We did get some SPD buffs and Clemenceau did get a manual CRIT skill. Additionally Clemenceau like her sister gets a preloaded salvo for the cost of only a MGM2. However can't say I love the newest faction mechanic of random.

For Painleve, the 100 extra heal increases the heal from 7% to 8.2% for Ägir, the most tanky vanguard ship. If that extra heal hits Shimakaze, it goes from 7% to 11.1%. So the 100 exrta heal is actually pretty good, imho. Does not make that ship good tho, why would i use her over Unicorn...

You're right that 100 HP will amount to like 2% on a standard Vanguard with 5K health. Even higher on the weaker French vanguards, but it's still a healer that's not great.

I like how you sound progressively more disappointing throughout the video, I actually had to turn up the volume by the end to hear what you are talking about lol. The commentating was quite good, had a few laughs here and there. French really got reverse bonk by their random baguettes...

I was realizing that this was not the French event I was hoping for...

Clemenceau is a hybrid of Richelieu and Jean Bart. Take's JB's crit skills and gets a Vichy-specific self-buff (in addition to a more general French one), but doesn't buff anyone else. Debuffs enemies with her barrage for flavor. Richelieu is still the faction buffer; Clem winds up being a better JB. Otherwise, lots and lots of random. I love the French shipgirls generally; I'll have to take a look to see if it's worth building (mostly) specific Free French vs. Vichy fleets, just for the sake of flavor.

You pretty much summarized it. And honestly i am Glad Richelieu is still the buffer, cause she continues to be a solid flag. The issues is Clemenceu being so selfish and towards her faction like the lore lol A big good point is Marsellaise is Vichya and you gonna use her alongside Richelieu making Clemenceus buff huge. Also both her and Richelieu debuff the enemy. There is on another note, a whole lot of healing theme going on, which you can take account four. I dont think by any means they are bad, is just Yostar being careful, cause Richilieu and Marsellaise exist and will be used in the same team.

i'm so sad about Guichen being mid, her design was my favorite out of all the ships

I really think the devs are missing the boat (see what I did there) on the smaller factions. These ships need to have better gimmicks than the main factions or they will never get used. I wish there were more things in the game that rewarded using faction fleets, especially the smaller factions.

you are missing the point that most player only play one faction and i know the players that only play baguettes are less than half the fanbase or even less. Better give that stuff to the most popular faction, thats just good business practice, the rest are just to fill the quota.

@@setiem13 Personally, I feel like the real issue with these ships is not that they have bad gimmicks (although it's certainly part of it), but that that these gimmicks are not even consistent with French faction. French originally was about manual control benefits and a little about high-speed vanguards (well, and preloaded BB with unusual salvo count). Other than Clem, none of that factors with these ships. They're more about RNG effects which...have never been a thing for any specific faction, more of a random (see what I did there) thing tossed into ships where they have no idea what to do with them. These ships end up feeling like they didn't even try to make them vibe with their faction, they just put the labels on them and called it a day.

I think Lyon being like other BB's is probably because she's pre 20's battleship that was never constructed (due to outbreak of WWI). Also I must say that the way Yostar gave the french CL gun they lacked for while is quite neat. Like any other non-Sakura event casual play.

Interesting take on Lyon.

Although one thing I did love was the Storyline for the event. Usually, I don't care about the lore but this one was just great and I noticed a few details that may be hints to future changes. The first one is the potential recombination of the French Factions (doubtful though) Second is that they mentioned Champagne's rigging getting an upgrade which could be a hint to buff for her. Both are probably nothing though and just me getting my hopes up. Whelp off to finishing the event.

Ah I get it now why the event is called "The Fool's Scale."

There were two ships named Colbert, there was a Suffren-class heavy cruiser that was scuttled at Toulon in 1942 & the AA-Cruiser from the 1950s.

Clemenceau have a really cool design, but man, she is pretty bad.... like i cant figure out why you would want to use her over Richelieu... and she is the face of the event...

thing Richelieu even till today is bonkers strong. Problem with French is that they keep giving them SSR ships 24/7 ... avoiding like plague UR tag except Brest which aint even that great (still she is good). While IB gets back to back 2 Rainbow ships all the time rocking PR. At this point all factions are weak if they are not Devs favoured IB. Gets boring for those who hoped for good times with other factions especially minor like French/Italy.

I'm a little disappointed that the French didn't get better ships and gear... It's even more disappointing because I like some of the designs a lot. I will pull because of the designs and best of luck to everyone pulling! Thank you for the video, ALM!🫡

@Mario-kf3ej Yeah, but I'm talking about a full fleet situation. Chinese has like 3 or 4 good/strong ships, and the rest are unplayable, ntm there's only 10 Chinese ships or something. They're really lacking in the main ship category

1:50 The poses are the same. The dresses are different enough for it to not be a carbon copy. And while I love my Honey Bunny a lot, Yorktown was the shipgirl I started playing this game for and the very first one I purposefully started farming a map to collect. It's been a LONG damn five years waiting for her to get an oath skin. Also, despite it being for Yorktown, I think they took inspiration for her form and look from Yorktown II.

I find it a bit sad that they went for battleships and a light cruiser that never went into service such as Lyon , Guichen and Clemenceau while there were interesting ships that could've replaced them : Bretagne , Strasbourg , Duguay-Trouin , Mogador. Otherwise the event and the shipgirls look nice and it's cool that we had some foreshadowing since already Confluence of Nothingness with those little cutscenes present there , really paid off for the event itself.

We could've also gotten the Courbet-Class battleships, mainly either Courbet herself, or Paris. Both Duquesne-class sisters, Duquesne herself and Tourville. Hell, maybe even the three Vichy Aigle-class destroyers, Albatros, Épervier and Milan.

I'm glad they didn't use those. Can you imagine if they used those but gave them THESE STATS AND SKILLS??? It'd be double disappointing and a waste.

26:58 I thought the same thing too, but it ended up being the highest DPS gun for CL's on Light and Medium. Only loses out to the UR Plymouth gun on Heavy armor, but not by much. Glad I didnt skip this. The rest of the event was pretty meh.

in the end this is just an event to pass time till the jp anni event drops

The only saving grace with this event is at least I now have more choices for ships (assuming I can even get them) for when I have to grind out French ship PR XP.

What's with the "Random Stats Skill" in This Event 🤔 i Think Suffren is a Good One 😍

You missed the Mark on West Virginia, Her FB got buffed to the point it’s at Bismarck 2 Levels which is fantastic, he Efficiencies are great now too. She also has 92 Accuracy which is ahead of all UR’s except for Warspite. Not to mention her RLD got a massive buff so she can make sure she delivers her Barrage to the field before Other BB’s pop off. The Slow and. damage boost is a fantastic combo and given how wide her Barrage is it will hit everyone. I’m not saying she’s cracking the top elite of the elite Meta, but this Retro absolutely dragged a Tier N battleship to tier 1. I don’t know how you can say that’s not good

@@Meinyaa enterprise gets away with a 70% and people deal. I hear what you’re saying but 70% reliable enough imo. Though I’m not gonna shy away from an argument bringing it to 30% though I’d think the argument would need to add something else. Idk what. Maybe have it go off at the beginning of the fight as well. Almost like a nice little preload.

Not sure if Marseillaise is a instant include in a all French fleet. What would you cut for her? My vanguard already has St Louise, Brest and Jeanne d'Arc which are already maxed out so as you see there's no space. She's also rated lower than Jeanne d'Arc as well on the community tier list. With Clemencau you might use her over Jean Bart but what about Champagne who seems more useful. My "French" backline is Rich, Champagne and if I don't use Jean Bart I have Marco Polo in that spot in OpSiren who's definitely more useful. As for the whole event I think its pretty obvious that Yostar only really cares about Ironblood, Sakura and Eagle Union. Those are the only factions in the game when it comes to being relevant. Occasionally some British, Italian, Chinese or Russian ship is good but mostly as a faction they don't exist either and the French definitely don't exist.

I think the reason for Guichen being so random has to do with her character, the clock behind her give me Kurumi vibe. Meaning here she have 12 skills, but since they need to limit the skill to 2, hence why.... imagine it as in anime 1. Speed buff 2. Evasion buff 3. Evasion rate buff 4. Special barrage 5. 2 shot from a new weapon 6. Instant FP & AA buff 7. AA buff that stack 5 times 8. Stack firepower buff 9. Stack torpedo buff 10. Stack accuracy buff 11. Freeze enemy 12. All out Assault

Idk if you meant other scene tho. So you basically have to use Marseilles / Richelieu just to make them useable. It’s like they want us to use faction fleets (and from a business stand point they really should!!) but they’re scared they’ll power creep the meta too much.

Haha, yes they need both those faction buffers to warrant using them. Which for a minor faction is okay, but they should bring something to the table if you are going out of your way to do that, not still be weaker than other fleets.

Whenever the next Eagle Union UR event happens, I pray to the gods of Yostar that we get USS Alaska as the UR for that event. Or if another Royal Navy UR event comes, I'd want at least one of the Super Rare ships to be another Dido-sister. My ideal one is HMS Cleopatra (Hull Number 33), this way we get tanned waifu number 21 into in the game (Included Jean Bart because of some of her official art, skins, and her chibi model gives her a slight caramelized look).

The game is power crept into oblivion, there are certain ships which are a must have for certain situations, but in general just load UR ships and you can get 99.5% of the game done, even if you lack rainbow gear. They are trying to revitalize some ships with special gear, but they would have to do a lot more to make 80% of the ships viable again or for the first time. They also need to drop pointless retrofits like the West Virginia and Nelson one, if they want to do retrofits make them actually result in the ships actually having a chance of being used, like Yūdachi for example, regardless of their rarity. In essence there's just to many UR and PR ships which overshadow most other ships, which is a shame.

Unfortunately their way of making "retrofits" that are used is making version 2 ships like Bismarck 2 which requires you to level up another whole ship etc and makes the original mostly pointless.

Nelson's "pointless" retrofit elevated her to T1 from TN. A well designed retrofit can work wonders on any ship. You might not personally find a use for them, but remember that the endgame players with every ship and who play solely for meta represent a small fraction of the game's player base.

OBS will not cause you any problems. They are looking for modified clients that are sending fake packets to there servers. They are also logging play time, so if you create a macro/bot that plays 24/7 that will get you hit too. Using a recording software like OBS will not get you hit. While i do have to admit the ships themselves arent perfect, i hope you remember that Richelieus and Marseleises buffs combined, really push a lot of this ships. Marsellaise is already vichya so it helps Clemenceu, and both of them get a 6% dmg reduction from richelieu, which in Mars case she has a 23%dmg reduction. Also there is a lot of reload reduction going on and Brest exists. Painleve isnt indeed that great but with all the reload she is getting its quite possible the team will heal a lot because of Brest and Mars, while habing her own on top. Pair that with Perseus and i am sure you will have an hilarious time. The light Cruiser is indeed the most awful, and i doint think there is much benifit to use it. Jean darc while outdated is still better and more over due the all the healing thats going on. Another benefit to Clemenceu, is also the fact, its another debuff on top of Richelieus one. I am not saying the ships are perfect but fulfill a role, and i can see them being made more for future proofs reasons then anything else. If they were exceptionally good, i think they would just claim the meta and team would be centered around them. I do also have to agree on the eliite, while she herself isnt good, when you take in the dmg recution thats going on, heals and buffs that are going on, she feels close to being an srr, save for her stats lol

Good post. The new ships are suitable for diversifying the faction fleet lineup, not creating a new meta, and in that regard they're just fine. I don't know what else people were expecting when SSRs haven't been meta movers for a long time now. Looking forward to testing some new French comps as my next downtime project.

If the carrier was something like Aquila, it would bump the french fleet so much, and she would be a better version because of all the buffs. I just can't get over how useless of a light cruiser we got thought lol I will however try the elite heavy cruiser for fun.

@@reignis9937 I'm not going to discount Guichen until I've had the chance to try her maxed out... It wouldn't be the first time a ship has been discounted on a paper analysis, when they ended up fine in practice. I'm not bothered by the random stat mechanic, as its benefits are cumulatively hefty when you get FP/TRP and its overall usefulness will average out across battles. But I'm most curious if her main gun proc's double shot counts towards triggering the next skill proc, and AoA procs as well. Might make it a coinflip worth "losing", depending on the quality of her barrage and AoA.

Me to Manjuu: Well, you did it. You took mine, and every other French fans possibly one in a million chance at happiness for good new French ships after waiting an unfairly long period of time than most other factions, and crushed it. Crushed it into little, tiny, wisdom cube sized pieces. I had really expected better of them developers to make these ships better considering how long we’ve had to wait. I guess I’m a loser for that to. Don’t bother coming on after maintenance, I’ll just say that you all, saved up for an IJN UR on JP anni. So thanks, thanks for nothing… (Jokes aside this is a new low on Manjuu’s part, and they need to buff these ships in a patch, because this is just not acceptable)

Marseillaise isn't that bad tbh, her being able to give an extra buff over the existing self buffs / flagship richie buff just makes everyone even stronger. Not to forget she also can make herself a barrier and has a dmg deduction / self buffs. (She's just build for a full French fleet, and she's a side grade option to Jeanne if you want slightly less durability, but all in on dmg boosts)

While Clemenceau is not that good right now because of not interesting vanguard ships for her, it opens the door for future Vichya frontliners that can actually be good

This actually annoys me a bit. I'm so happy with the event and the girls art is Fantastic, but they Really are Waifu over Meta, they're unfortunately not that strong... Still, gonna run a few French fleets for testing, but I was hopping for a little bit more damage for them all. Well, Godspeed commanders, let`s get those French girls.

I pulled for Clemenceau since i like the design and artwork of the artist and vanguard was my first u.r., as well as a day one lucky gacha since i started playing. I just screwed myself for 144 cubes but by the time this event is done and the september u.r. comes i should be back to over 650 cubes. That and I can finally get Richelieu from the invite. hope they don't plan to rerun shima soon.

I'm starting to wonder if dev actually hated french faction, not only they shafted french event by 3 years, they also hold back the skillset of new ships. Fortunately the event story is awesome so it's not total disappointment.

Big fat L to Frenchy fans. After so long waiting for Manjuu to give us a full French event, they couldn't even allow us one exceptional ship. The West Virginia RF in particular stings. Such a weird, unnecessary choice considering how many outdated but beloved Iris/Vichya ships there are that could have greatly benefited from it. SMH

Ill take 100 bad French ships over 1 good brit*sh ship.

I think that they are scared to make any half-decent new French ships because if they do then they will just get buffed to shit with the Richelieu and Marseillaise combination. But since all of the Richelieu class has been finished I'm hoping that they make a French UR with one of the two remaining ships from the Alsace class. If they disappoint me again will be mad. Still need to see if it is more worth having Champagne or Clemenceau in my main French fleet. For now, I am leaning towards Champagne since I did oath her for the oath skin and I think she has higher dps by alot (If I'm wrong please tell me). Although Im not that mad since Marseillaise is a lovely addition with her buffs hopefully in a year we can get some more French girls to make a fleet that can compete in the meta instead of doing a troll rng fleet with the Speedy French dds.

Flandre is the best option for a French BB in a French Fleet currently (IMO) considering me having her at dev30. Being able to fire 3MGM, FP / EVA self-buffs, aimed Barrage with good coefficients, a good bosser after her second MGM volley / a self-heal that gives her 15% of her HP back in the span of 3% heal per second over 5s, and an secondary gun eff boost / range boost when her heal ability is triggered (despite only two skills, she's a powerhouse with self-heals'n'buffs, just a better monarch) Champagne is rly good despite having below average HP than Flandre, but her skills can make her hit like a truck. She makes up for 1MGM for her massive 180% MGM Eff, gains a 40% loading time deduction that makes her fire her guns faster alongside having a barrage upon firing / 20s barrage. She's definitely built for using her AP gun considering it gives FP by 1% (5%), RLD by 5% (15%), and increases its Main Gun Crit Rate by 5% (20%). Also, I've been disappointed for 3 years w/ Manjuu's lack of Major French Events, (SP / Raids don't count) don't worry, you're not alone, and it's definitely going to take more than this event alone to compensate, more or less a UR event at best + a French UR Retrofit. (Options: De Grasse or Jean Bart)

EN anniversaries really dont get a lot of love these days. First the Blucher mini event and now an event that feels delayed.

Blucher event arent that bad, because it come with both Brunhilde and Blucher, 2 pretty strong Iron Blood ships.

i mean i would understand if this event was like the IB event with endem where we got "old" ships BUT come on manjuu yongshi you cant do this dirty to the french.. like they are not even worth pulling

As someone that hasn't had time to really develop the French units, I'm glad that I can mainly save my cubes on this event. I've been concerned with JP anni coming and if they decide to do another back to back UR with a UR rerun shortly after. Now I can just pull a bit and mostly save up.

None of the new French Ships have anything that makes them stand out. The best ship is the carrier for the heals, but everyone else is useable at best. It's a shame - first French event in years, and every single one of the ships has some restriction that cripples them. Take Guichen for example - she would have been amazing with a 160% AA Efficiency and if they had removed the randomness from the first skill. It's disappointing.

really disappointed with clemenceau btw like she had UR potential and her design is so pretty and unique in comparison to others and shes just some random ship u cant even use with richelieu properly. what was their thought process honestly

all the ships in this batch feels like they're all set up to get a module to fix their flaws in the future

That would be nice. But people may skip them to save cubes for the UR event and miss out sadly.

1:47 - I thought it looked similar, but jeeeez. They may as well have copypasta'd NJ and clicked "save as". ngl, that's doing poor Yorktown a little dirty on the devs part.

I love the ship designs but man. They were done dirty. Do I even use my cubes? Maybe I'll just save up for the next UR... 😭

I really like Guichen and Lyon's designs, so I want to pull hard, but it's going to be hard to justify it gameplay wise. At least Panleve is free

Update.....I got every ship from the event in my first 30 pulls....so time to start saving for the Japanese anniversary

why in the name of all that's holy does Clemenceau break up the faction line? It doesn't make any sense, even if you try and give it lore in game, most of the other french ships work with both factions despite being enemies in past lore. Normally i'm less annoyed about mid ships but the game design of most of the skills here just aren't interesting or bad. I'm weirdly glad Suffren is the most interesting bote of the event since I like her the most, but it confuses me why she was the reveal tease at the con but was a simple elite. They also released a bote in 2023 with only a single non-aoa skill. biggest disappointments are the destroyer with only 1 real skill and the elite battleship with the most cut and dry skills ever. Clemenceau takes a special prize for being such a big name and mostly being a letdown.

It really feels like they had this batch of ships designed in 2020 and never used it so they decided to just use them on EN anni without any changes.

i think the random aspect to their skills kinda fits their faction theme of religious faith

Absolutely not. Religious belief are often considered completely incompatible with the concept of randomness. especially christianity which is the religion that inspires the aesthetic of the french factions ingame

That’s reasonable; However, the issue is that in this current day environment, any weird skill setup and or anything that’s just unconventional I’d automatically shunned because it’s not balls broken.

@@tntthefunnyjesterman353 since they added URs we cant help to get power creep unfortunately and as much as youre right with clemenceau i think its not unconventional but just straight up unusable bc we need to be able to use her with iris libre. i think wed be excited if we saw a funny OP skill even if the rest of the ships mediocre. instead we get just useless ships and its anniversairy ships and clemenceau has already been mentioned so many times.... just feels pretty bad for the french. we need the gimmick to feel better. like italians became pvp meta

Inside me there are two wolves, One says this event isn't all that good. The Other is Coping really hard saying augment modules coming later will make them great. Edit: ...I got all the ones in construction.

So underwhelming..... At least made Clemenceau compatible to the entire French faction and better debuff 😅 making her one skill locked to Vichy France crippled her viability. Oh well waifu over meta 😂 thry can do PvE just fine, not going to beat the Mafia Fleet so yeah 😂

Painleve heals an additional 100HP if the ships HP getting healed is lesser than 25%. Basically making it 8.2% heal rather than 7%.

The French wait how long for a major event and this is what they get, I agree that these ships seem like they are from when Richelieu came out, if that was the case then they'd be fine, but 2 years of UR'S and power creep later? They are SSR's sure, but event if their skills were 100% and not random, but just a skill they wouldn't be UR level, they're barely SSR level anymore. This event is about as disappointing as a Chinese event. Now watch next event will be IB or SE and it'll be 100% barages, big or stacking buffs with top notch stats on the ships, most likely Japanese because it'll be their anniversary event and we can't screw that up....smh

do you seriously believe what you just typed? I'm not a fan of French faction but I seriously feel sorry for them, they waited so long for an event and It's just a disappointment. You say they should wait for the UR 🤣, brother maybe they'll get one in a few years just before the game shuts down Also the most toxic fans are IB stans, they get all the love from manjuu these days yet they still demand more
