@@CornballLyric Laffey 2 and Guam feel like a W 15 easy mode. Both Super high AA. Guam is much more Tanky than Cheshire.Laffey2 is tanky and as a DD brings good ASW and Evasion by default

They incorporated Laffey II real life lore to the skills. IRL Laffey (DD-724) downed 13 enemy planes & survived from 50 kamikaze planes.

I was excited to see her introduced to the game as I've had the luxury of being on her IRL where she is stationed at Patriots Point in Charleston, SC as a museum ship, alongside Yorktown II, who is also in the game. Its not just Laffey, many ships have skills based on thier real life battle experience. Its one of the things I love about AL being a WW2 Naval buff as well as Anime lover lol.

Honestly both ur are busted, but in different ways. Guam is a aa tank, and if she has the Alaska gun. She becomes a mini gun that won't stop doing damage. While laffy 2 is a DPS tank that just won't die. Like power creep is real and it is glorious

Laffey DD-724 is infamous. Survived four bombs, 6 kamikaze, participated in D-Day where she was shot but it failed to explode (look at the luck stat!), participated in bikini atoll atomic tests and nearly sunk herself if not for being named as a national historical landmark. She's also going to get a movie directed by Mel Gibson. It will truly be an injustice if she isn't broken in AL

That is a very specific percentage.

At the moment U556 meta, Leonardo da Vinci and the colab sub we just received are the best trio for damage.

6:24 The bottom text apparently implies it's a Retrofit and given the design elements (lantern, drooping bits of fabric that the planes launch off of, feather hairpin, etc) / the fact that CNY is around the corner, it's likely Chen Hai Retrofit. Hopefully they buff her first skill by a lot and give her a good third skill.

Oh a Chen Hai retorfit would be cool.

One thing to note for Laffey 2's third skill is that any attack cannot deal more than 10% of her CURRENT hp (until she drops to 25% of her max hp, at which point her damage reduction max out at receiving only 2.5% of her max hp for each hit). This means that paired with her 15% shield, it will take at least 30 direct hits to sink Laffey 2, not to mention the potential heals that Laffey 2 could get from the Main Fleet's airstikes and her high evasion stat. Don't know how she will actually perform in-game, but on paper she is insane. There are a few people in the CN community who did some initial calculations on her, and found out that Laffey 2 can output around 1000dps without any damage-increasing gears (about the same level as Yuudachi retro), while having the AA of Cheshire (due to her special AA gun that deals 284 damage) and insane survivability (Anchorage/Brest level even without any limit breaks). Some people even thought that because of her insane survivability, you could put Laffey 2 in the front-most position of the vanguard fleet while equipping double Type 93 Pure Oxygen Torpedo, further boosting her damage output to around 1300dps (about the same level as Plymouth). Anyways Laffey was the first girl that I oathed, and I am really happy that she is getting more attention. Hopefully her actual performance could hold up to the calculations, but jeez the power creep is real.

A bit late, but thx for the datamine! Got 2 Guams in 56 pulls. (one on #15 and one on #56) I love Guam already! Laffey II is an insane DD and it only feels right Yostar made her like that given her real life lore... Now to find a decent book about 724, that is not a glorified picture book (made that mistake on New Jersey). Happy holidays and a blessed 2024 Meta!

Does Constellations damage buff apply to enemies that are slowed / stopped?

Looks like there might have been a translation error in San Jacinto's second skill. The official translation reads: "When this ship takes DMG, launches a Lv.# airstrike (DMG based on the skill's level), inflicts 30 DMG to your Flagship, and 3s later, restores 3.0% of that ship's max HP (10s cooldown between activations; can only activate up to 5 times per battle). That's not as garbage a skill as the leak suggests, but I don't know if it makes her all that much better. 3% of a battleship's HP isn't insignificant, but I can't really think of any content where your battleship would be taking damage and another backline ship wouldn't be better.

The power creep is definitely getting crazy. With all the UR's in the game between the Gacha, retrofitted SR's and DR research ships, it feels more and more like new SR ships are slowly becoming what Elites have, collection-tier. As someone whos played for a long long time, I have all the UR's currently in the game and between my 2 main fleets and PvP fleet, I think the only 2 SR's I still run anymore are Perseus and Anchorage.

Hooo boy. The PVP potential for Sumner Laffey is nice. She looks pretty broken paired with Anchorage on first glance. She literally kills the Preload and Torpmeme fleets because they won't be able to kill her in the opening salvo and that just makes her stronger. And by the time you get her low enough to proc her Death Evasion skill, it's already time for your CVs to launch, giving her at least 1 heal.

Laffey II feels like she’s going to be so troll in PvP with that skill. I use Shima to nuke the front line with torps but you won’t be able to do that with Laffey. These UR’s are tailor made for chapter 15. Can’t wait to level them up.

I run a 1 main fleet, 1 vanguard fleet fleet to save oil on low level event campaign stages; I do see how Kirov Meta could be used for that. However I doubt she would bring something to my HMS Unicorn / IJN Hanazuki fleet to warrent replacing Hanazuki.

Great event for EVERYONE!

Guam was clearly made for Ch13 hard, plane hell on steroids xD Also, considering Laffey II is based on the Sumner-class Laffey, which was know as the "Bitch that wouldnt sink" (speaking hyperbole here), her damage mitigation skill is on point ^^

So, Zara's Augment isn't all that good - the buff when she gets a shield is nice, but her shields only have a 18% chance to proc when taking damage and can only proc once every 12 seconds. As such, you simply aren't going to get the buff often enough to matter. Both UR's in this new event are really strong. Guam is THE AA carry for W12, 13 and 15, and Laffy is just good.

No daily mission can be seen for the Laffey tickets, anyone know what it is about?

The Silhouette is an upcoming retrofit, I think that's what it says in the Japanese text. Probably Hai Tien, kinda looks like her.

hate being that person but it is "San(d) Juh-sin-to" It doesn't follow the normal spanish pronunciations of J like with San Jose and it uses the San pronunciation like San Diego or Antonio.

Guam & Constellation are already my waifus for this event, and I'm praying that I can get them. The latter is just so adorable she needs to be protected from anything lewd on the base. While the former really does looks like Ai Hoshino from 'Oshi No Ko' and we now have a chance of saving her from her death by a pissed off fan.

Ya odd, but I guess she isn't a gacha UR (note that retrofit URs like Warspite, San Diego, and Yuudachi don't have it either nor do rainbow level DRs).

Yea the Bunbun info is completely wrong you will get barely enough for 1 copy with all missions and mini game, not even enough 180 max

As someone who has already cleared w15 I’m a bit torn about this banner. On the one hand both these ships are fantastic for it. Laffey II has the skillset to be very useful outside of w15. Guam on the other hand I just don’t see her getting used outside of w15. Contrary to what many ppl here may think these ships will only make w15 slightly easier.

These ships were designed for W15 and will make it easier, but that was the case for W13 and W14 too. Manjuu makes ships around the toughest content in the game at the time.

The first UR banner released after w14 release was for UvH. UvH is a really good ship that works well in w14, not a ship specifically designed for w14. This was a chance to do something interesting with CBs instead we got Super Sandy.

Hi ALM you say "Guam is best outside of Eagle Union Fleets". I kinda disagree. She Has High AA and wants atleast 1 BB/BV,/ BV. Kears Enty York. Her AA keeps the cvs hidden and Kears Trigger her armor break. You can use her in Musashi Shinano Haku too i guess but than Musashi wouldnt be flag

I'm saying that you can run NJ/Kearsarge/Enty with Laffey 2 and other USS ships you need for the content. Guam sits in the other fleet and buffs the whole fleet while being able to give benefits to your backline (say Musashi, Bismarck 2, Vanguard, etc.).

Kears buffs Enty and York 2 York2 buffs Enty Guam and Laffey high AA keep Enty and York2 hidden Laffeys skill helps hidding Enty and York2 Kears can trigger Guams AB Skill And the Cherry on Top is you get NJ and Independence Crossfleet Buffs to buff Enty and York2 even more The only thing you "lose" is Guams AA Crossfleet buff

The mini-Iowa is energetic, and tanky...

If Laffey II really can disrupt even one of the memes currently clogging up pvp, she should automatically get some kind of 2024 Ship of the Year award or something.

Someone said this on the intro video of this event on the AL main channel, so I'll repeat it here: Whoever got Dishwasher1910 to work as a character artist for Yostar/Manjuu, they have the full support of the community. Now whenever we see a ship made by Dish, we know that they let the man cook, and it turns out so good.

The man's done it all & we've not seen the last of him. Already he's done Musashi, Prinz Heinrich, Owari, Kronshtadt, Prinz Adalbert, and now Guam officially. Not to mention his old fan-designs of Yamato, Texas, Iowa, Dreadnought, the Airship Kirove from 'Red Alert 3' and the Submarines Dmitriy Donskoy, U-2511, and Ohio (The latter four will never come, but he made them anyway). Plus his original fan-designs of both Musashi and Shinano that he made, before he became an official artist for AL.

@@uuwa_09 The irony of saying "Making the game balanced" while we get 2 busted UR, both designed to buff USS Only Fleets. Guams and Laffey 2 synergy with Kearsarge and York2, Enty is insane. Kearsarge buffs Enterpriese and Yorktown 2. Yorktown 2 buffs Enterpriese. Guam and Laffey2 AA keep Enterpriese and York hidden. Kearsarge triggers Guam's AB ability. Laffey 2 hides all USS CV. And on top of that, we get Independence and NJ crossfleet buff (and Shimakaze's crossfleet buff for Laffey2) This is anything but balanced. Even if you are a USS player
