My theory is to how Senna was so fast in Monaco was the throttle blips, which always ensured that he would be on the power most of the time and Monaco is one of the slowest tracks on the F1 calendar in terms of top speed. Senna maintaining a consistent pace would mean he would shave a tenth at every corner.

@@Janfey For Sure, but it was done by Senna to keep the 'Turbo' spooling' so as to reduce lag out the corners and also to reduce the way the Turbo Torque kicked in. This is Lotus with the Honda 1.5 Turbo [older version] and Senna used the ''active suspension''. Schumacher did it due to always setting his Car's up ''pointedly'' meaning they had much more oversteer, on his theory that it made the chassis go 'neutral'' in high speed corners and he would blip the throttle in the low speed ones, to keep the suspension moving around, i.e. unsettle the Car in the Low Speed ones on its suspension, so that the Oversteer he had dialled in was much less noticeable..

What an incredible piece of Formula 1 history! The Monaco GP is such an iconic race, and to think of Ayrton Senna driving the Lotus 99T there in 1987 is just thrilling. Senna was known for his exceptional skill, especially in Monaco. This video must offer a fantastic glimpse into the past, showcasing the raw talent and the unique atmosphere of F1 racing during that era. The Monaco circuit, with its tight corners and narrow streets, is a true test of a driver's skill, and Senna was a master at it. What a treat for motorsport fans! 🏎🏁

NO where near it - crash tested carbon fibre tubs with burst proof bladder fuel tanks - pit to car monitoring - No - you need to go back the Colin chapman era when they were driving V8 fuel tanks - many, many perished .. I started watching F1 when Piers Courage was driving - ironically killed 52 years before this comment 21st June 1970.

Driving fast wasn't enough if the pilot couldn't save the car; the engine, brakes and tires. Ayrton started driving kart a the age of 4 and racing at 8 with drivers 15//18 and professionally at age of 13. Rest in the glory! 🌷🧉🗿
