Alright, after finishing the video, I’d like to just help inform you from a Light Novel stand-point on the series. Firstly, I’d be surprised if you’ve only been spoiled on some stuff and haven’t heard that this season as an adaptation of the Novel, was quite bad. And I really mean it when I say it. The only episodes fans of the novel somewhat enjoyed were episodes 3, 6, 9 and 12. These were the best received episodes from fans of the novel. But even then, they still cut out many things. The anime for example, cut out half of the entirety of volume 5, which was the sports festival and made that arc look extremely bland. It was entirely butchered and I hate the anime for it considering that was the first volume in COTE that I REALLY enjoyed. So much things such as Ryuuen hunting for the mastermind behind the scenes, Ibuki Vs Horikita race to ignite their rivalry, sports festival events, Sakayanagi confronting Ayanokoji about knowing about him and the white room which was an EXTREMELY tense confrontation, even for Koji. other things were just sadly cut. The anime also sucks at portraying characters, especially Ayanokoji and Ryuuen. Koji is presented as just an empty shell and that’s it. But in the novel because he narrates the story and we see his inner thoughts, it’s much more enjoyable and you can see he just wants to live a normal life and has a personality in a way. Ryuuen, gets presented in a rather horny way. Being a sexual predator to Horikita half the time and just saying corny stuff. In the Novel he’s actually an amazing antagonist and the second best character imo. He’s very smart and can mentally break people. This season as an adaptation is a 5/10 to be honest. Then, most of your complaints were low-key never a problem in the Novel. The large cast of characters only just increases from here on and they all have genuine personalities and are used well enough. Tension is one COTE’s strongest points and has always been. The school system is explained far better as well. Koji is in Class D because he is amazing, yet does not put his power to use. Horikita is in class D because she mistakes Isolation for independence, Kushida is in Class D because of her past. Koenji is in Class D despite being perfect because he does not cooperate with anyone or anything. Someone like Sudo was accepted because of his Physical capabilities. The school operates in a largely different way than one might think. But I can’t be bothered to fully explain it. Season 1 covered volumes 1-3 which is easily the weakest of the series. Season 2 is covering volume 4, then skipped the entirety of volume 4.5 even though that’s actually important for character relationships such as Katsuragi and Ayanokoji, Koji and Kei, and others. volume 5, volume 6, volume 7, and I think volume 7.5 is going to be shoved into the entirety of episode 13, which is not good because it’s almost a 300 page volume. COTE is an amazing Light Novel with an anime that’s decent on it’s own, but terrible as an adaptation. The Novel holds both the second and third spot on MAL in the Light Novels section. COTE from what I know is the best selling Light Novel that is on going currently. Always being in the top 10-5 of weekly sales. Both Japan and in the west. The series has been going since 2015 and has 22 volumes in total, and is only halfway done. The Novel is Expected to finish in 2029. Right now the series could have 6 seasons if everything was animated. If you want to truly experience what this series actually is and what makes it so different, and why it’s so popular and loved. I STRONGLY recommend you just read the Novel from the beginning. It’ll really feel like a whole different experience with how much was cut or changed. I can promise you that as me and many others from what I know found it rather different, but also better. And someone like Ayanokoji will be viewed really differently in your eyes if you read the Novel. Because the anime will never be able to properly present his character when 95% of his monologues are all cut out.

That last part about "95% of his monologues/narration are cut out" MUST be true, because i distinctly remember moments in the VIP game on the ship from this season where the camera just stares at him and he stares back like 😐🤐 was SO OBV something had been cut in retrospect 🤣the cut convo about Ayanokoji & the white room is also very surprising, but, tbf, in the context of the anime, because of how little it was discussed previously, it likely would've had a nullified impact. I'm def interested in the novel now at the very least. Thanks for providing the matching volume info as well, I'd like to see what all was cut w/o spoiling the future anime adaptations :]

The fight scene was originally on the rooftop while it was raining in the Light Novel. And it wasn’t all that dark out. But I still liked the setting after watching the episode. And this episode didn’t have the best animation? That’s definitely a new one lmao. I and many others believed this episode of COTE looked amazing, especially with all the fantastic action choreography. But hey, maybe you’re just not used to animation like this and and are used to much higher quality shonen fights.

Ye I do think it was a good looking episode...but I also just came from bingeing To Your Eternity, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, andob Psycho 2 in that order 😂🤣so my perspective is skewed lol. And I had heard it initially took place on a rooftop but wasn't sure of the validity of that claim. Setting change worked for the most part--I've seen some brighter images online which make me think there's another version I missed 😅

As the other person has said. I believe you should try reading the Light Novel as most of your complaints would be solved. And also, that this season cut out A LOT from the novel.

I probably will give the light novel a shot, but the anime has been solid enough for me to watch it to completion first. I'm curious though -- was anything MAJOR cut from the novels? 👀I'd assume LN would be vocal if there was 😂

@@Sutidamuskun by vocal I’m assuming you mean wouldn’t people be saying more about the anime being a bad adaptation, and to answer that I just have to say you’ve been away from all COTE fans or something because readers were and are complaining EVERYWHERE about how badly adapted the anime is. Go on COTE’s subreddit or MAK thread section of season 2 and any reader would go as far as to give a whole essay on why it’s not well adapted. But the most Major thing skipped was half of the entirety of volume 5 which was the sports festival. So much good moments and important events and details were skipped... especially the one that made fans so confused and angry. Sakayanagi confronting Koji about his white room past. It’s believed it’s going to be moved to somewhere in season 3, but now that was actually know about the white room in a way, it kills the hype it had because of how sudden an tense it was for it to happen at the end of the sports festivel.

@@IvPunisherG yeah after reading the comments here I realized there's a LOT of you all complaining; it's just on forums I don't frequent 😂🤣as an anime only (for the next week at least) I actually think cutting that Koji/white room thing from THAT particular time in the story makes sense only because prior to it, the room was only shown once in the anime and forgotten about--I likely wouldn't have felt it to be as tense as just abrupt. That said, I do get your larger point; there's WAY more to the character interactions & the sports festival in particular that warrant reading the LN, so I'll give it a shot🙂

A lot of the complaints stated in the video don't hold much value when you read the light novel. The anime was never going to be able to adapt the story the way the light novel has mainly because of the episode count. It irritates me to see many misconceptions and disappointing feelings arise from anime viewers (not to bash the anime, it's still amazing) but honestly, just pick up the light novel. It wont disappoint. Regarding one of your comments on what MAJOR events were skipped, I wouldn't be able to list all of them and wouldn't want to spoil in case THAT CUT SCENE appears on monday's final episode. I could write essays in your comment section but I see other fans are already saying what i'm trying to express in a sense. So my final words will be, just read the light novel.

To be clear, the 3 complaints I listed in this are NOT complaints I hold anymore -- they were issues I had up UNTIL around ep 6-12 of S2🙂that said, changes are always necessary for anime adaptations, but you all seem kinda worried about the particular changes made. I may give the light novels a shot up until I match where S2 ended (anime is still solid enough to watch it first I feel) especially cuz of how many of you have expressed this :p

The video hella laggy bro, but in all honesty you gotta read the light novels man. I've read them all and I can say rn the anime will never give the ln the full justice it deserves. Reason being is there's to much stuff packed in the LN. Honestly, they could have split season 2 into 2 seasons and they could probably split the next season into 2 others If they're gonna cover what I think they're gonna cover.

Yeah I didn't realize video got messed up during rendering. I'd re-upload but it did better than I thought really quickly so I just left it. Ill put a disclaimer. But yeah, everyone suggested I should read the LN 😂🤣like literally every comment loool so imma trust yall and give it a shot
