Axis8 Shell Taping Machine Test

This is the first complete test of the new Axis automated shell taping machine. The profile for a 6" shell with 4 layers and 4 different taping angles is selected. The operation completes in one minute and 16 seconds. Can paste from 2" to 8" shell sizes using both gummed tape and pasted tape. Foot operated auto shell gripper, no rod swaps necessary.

Impressive. I like the automatic angle adjustment. Is this a personal project, or something that might be shared at some point?

I have a few requests to make them for some firework factories, but it is a complex machine to build and would probably be priced out of the hobbyist market. Still lots of testing and tweaking to be done, then I have to build one that can do up to 12" shells.

where do you get the thin tape?here the thinnest is 15 mm and too big for 3-4"

Somebody sent me a box of 12mm tape to test with. I don't know where they got it, but typically you have to custom order this type of thing from a converter company.
What are the names of the two shafts that hold the round ball while pushing and rotating?

The top one is Steven and the bottom one is Jasper. Seriously though, they are just metal rods, there is no special name.
