I've played with the idea that Zombie tech should come from killing zombies. Each Tech has a "Cost" of zombies. Over the course of the game, if you kill 10 zombies, you can trade the zombie heads for a tech. Each Tech could be priced based on its efficiency and impact on the game. Or you could have a flat-rate to simply roll on the table.
I’m growing on this game at first I was skeptical now however I’m intrigued and it maybe on the Christmas horizon
Really enjoy Sams reviews!! Excited to check this game out 🤓🤓🤓
Love A&A. This is a neat idea and a way to spice the game up. I don’t think it will be as long lasting as Anniversary or Classic A&A; but, still looks fun.
Nice Review Sam! We love A&A and we're curious how they were gonna sneak some Zombies in there!?! 👍👍
Just a quick comment about the downtime... yeah, this is the type of game that some people can't handle because of that. Some people are fine with it because you are invested in other people's turns... and you can give advice to your teammates. Since it is a team game, you can sort of continue to play while one of your allies is going. I am always invested when playing A&A... but not everyone feels that way and this game is definitely not for them.

i have played the big versions with my brother 1 vs 1... does take a nice 10-15 hours, but you really don't get much downtime. :D

Agree entirely Kabuki kid. Since it is a team game the downtime isn't so bad. We always play as a team so the person who's turn it is is really just the one who makes the rolls.

@@Sajatzsiraf Yeah, generally if you're strategizing and crunching plan A, plan B ... or advising teammates, there's not really a lot of downtime. Good players will have a plan worked out ahead of time and the actual turn will go quickly.
I've been wondering about this one. The premise is so bonkers that, at first, I discounted this game. Learning more about it does give me more interest. Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition has completely replaced regular Axis & Allies for me, so it will be hard to replace that one now... but this may be a fun one to change things up some from time to time.

I don't see it as an either or. There is literally nothing stopping you from taking the zombie minis and deck and adding them to your anniversary edition. Think of it as a stand-alone expansion, like how A&A: Europe and A&A: Pacific can combine to form A&A: The One that Takes Up Two Tables.

True.. .but it surely won't be as balanced for that map. The map was changed quite a bit for the Anniversary Edition. This one apparently uses the same map as the 1942 edition.

@@KabukiKid Late reply but to clarify, the game has its own map which is smaller than 1942 but slightly bigger than 1941. It comes with a deck of cards specifically to use with 1942. You can't play with Anniversary Edition as the regions have different names, so the cards don't work. There are some fan hacks on Boardgame Geek which make it work though.

@Adam Whitehead... thanks for the information about that. :-)
The zombies definetly change the game. I had an American D-Day invasion ready to go, but zombies appeared in East U.S, Mexico and west U.S. D-day had to be postponed to deal with them. My brother after getting our copy told me that the game was flying off the shelves. The tech you get sounded awesome, and i like how theres an explanation through memo's and newspapers in the rulebook to the origin of the zombies.
Would you play on the 1942 map or the zombie map for the 1942 scenario?
Nice review! how long does a two player game last?
Curious if there's a way for Zombies to go on the offensive themselves. Would add to the downtime factor though.

Zachery Morrison maybe half of units move to largest human forces adjacent to them during zombie round?
Looks promising :)
You know, I was just saying how playing as Russia wasn't a frustrating enough experience yet, and making it so that the majority of the things you're able to deploy will get back up and start murdering you the second they drop seems like a great way to extend that middle finger just a little bit more. But seriously, this seems like a fun gimmick, and if my game shelf wasn't currently overflowing, it might make the cut.
I think Axis & Allies must be played as a team game, that way you are not passive 4/5. Some on your team should be attacked at least when it's the enemy turn...
Curious as to why the green pros: arrow was pointing down

aowoodworks who says it’s an arrow? Looks like a banner to me...
How this game is this cheap? 210 minis in it, and it sells around 25 dollars? How this is even possible? :O
@PMMagro

It is very few minis and chips in it. But AH are using the same as in other games so you can create your own pool of them or slaughter an old/second hand game (even if not complete).

Even more amazing: it´s about the same price as 1941 which has less content in almost every way (fewer units and miniatures, cardboard stacking counters, no money, etc.).
I want those dice just to have the zombie head.

Usually these are sold seperatly (dice, models etc).
Whoa?! This game has a didn’t time that could last 45 minutes? That intimidates me as there’s no way I could get people to play this lol
Wonder when CMON will make: Zombicide: Revolutionary War Zombicide: Civil War Zombicide: WWI Zombicide: WWII
Only thing I don't agree on is zombies can kill tanks

tanks? wb the planes lmao
you know what the zombies want after the war? the jar with hitlers brain in it... if they didnt get it already!
Oh what next, Axis & Allies space wars? Axis & Allies undersea ocean wars? Vampires or plagues too. I'll stick to the Classic Axis & Allies, Revised Edition, Spring 1942 The World is At War and the 1941 Anniversary Edition. I'm burned out on the rest just like I am with Star Wars.
Yeah in all fairness (and as others here have stated), A&A (all versions) is pretty much a 2 player game. Sure, you can cram 3, 4, 5 (and in certain versions), 6, 7 and 8 players into it... but all said and done, it's a 2p game. I do not want to wait for over an hour for my turn, thank you (yes, it's happened in a 5 player game I hosted once), so I will never offer A&A as a game for my group, even though everyone there knows and likes it. And I actually really do love A&A... just find it too sluggish when played with more than 2.

There is a learning curve for taking efficient turns, that's for sure, but when I play with a group of 4 other experienced players things move very quickly, and we've finished ENTIRE full games in less than 2 hours.
Great video and thank you for showing new players how to play. I'm actually disappointed with this version. Axis & Allies could've made another great game or even if the game isn't that great, new pieces??? I'm glad my friends and I are skipping this version. I'll save it for when they decide to make an actual good game. 😊🤣😂
I feel that Avalon Hill missed an opportunity to make a better game or change the existing game in a more meaningful way. Avalon is jumping on the Zombie 🧟♂️ bandwagon.
NOOOOOoooooooo
Axis & Allies... WOW! But... zombies? that really sucks! Is so freaking gringo to keep doing zombie shit even in the soup. Eventhough the game would be awesome about mechanics, the single zombie idea makes me not wanting it. Shame.
