I GO CRAZY spent 40 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It peaked at # 7 in 1978. Paul was a very talented singer and songwriter who left us way too soon on April 22, 2008, he was 60. Other hits by Paul were, 65 LOVE AFFAIR, one of my favorites and quite an upbeat song, COOL NIGHT and SWEET LIFE.

Al, Those 40 weeks were a record at the time for longest run in the Hot 100. It slowly climbed the chart and hit its peak after more than 6 months. Fun fact: He wrote this song with Lou Rawls in mind to record it. But after the record label heard the demo he had recorded, it was so impressed that they decided to release it with minimal editing. Lou Rawls later did record a version, but it did nowhere near as well as Davis's.

Back in 1981, when I was 13-years old, I called the most popular AM radio station in my city and requested they play this song. I'll never forget the DJ's response. He scoffed at the idea of playing a song called "I Go Crazy" and seemed to imply that the song title alone was too negative to play over the airwaves. I never forgave him for that.

So glad y'all found this. Paul Davis was a talented songwriter, blending soul with country in songs for artists like Juice Newton & Tanya Tucker, who had some success in the late 70's/early 80's as a singer also. I would suggest you also check out his songs "Sweet Life", "Cool Night", "65 Love Affair", "Love Me or Let Me Be Lonely" & "Do Right" (with showcases his gospel influences).

That was Rick "Ricky" Nelson introducing Paul Davis. Rick Nelson was born into show business - his parents were chart-topping Big Band performers who transitioned into radio and television personalities during the 1940s. As a teen during the 1950s, Ricky starred as himself, alongside his parents and brother, in the television hit 'The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet'. For years, each episode would conclude with a musical performance by Ricky Nelson and his band, in the style of his rockabilly idols Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. His career continued into the 70s and 80s but tragically died in a plane crash in 1985. His first wife (Kristin Harmon) is the sister of actor Mark Harmon (NCIS, Chicago Hope, St. Elsewhere). Their daughter, Tracy Nelson was a very successful actress in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Five years after Rick's death, his twin sons Gunnar and Matthew would become stars under the band name "Nelson", releasing the triple-platinum record 'After the Rain'.

This song just brings back memories of an old boyfriend. I was driving behind him years ago and we both pulled into the same store parking lot. He got out of his car first and then we almost bumped right into each other. He was excited to see me and I had to tell him I was married with 2 little ones. Hes like, already? Well he didn't take our relationship very seriously. When I met my new boyfriend I kind of just accepted that he wasn't interested in pursuing our relationship. Too late. I think about him occasionally but he blew it! Good reaction video! You 2 bring the best songs to your channel! Buy the way this story happened alot of years ago!

@@bizarrecrimes The original still gives me goose bumps to this day! I was 6 when it came out, and loved it back then. This live version just doesn't give me that same feeling. I think they were cheated on this one. I hope they can listen to the original at some point.

I think of someone specifically when I hear this song. There is a certain part of the piano melody that has a deep tone that lifts upward after the verses and into the pre-chorus segment. Just an iconic moment.

The guy who said Paul Davis looked like an Allman Brother was Rick Nelson, who started on his parents' TV show in the 50s (The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet) and went on to become a pop singer. A decade later he had a song called "Garden Party" about how he wanted to play his new music but all anyone wanted to hear was his old stuff from when he was a teenager.

Yes, We Love You both too. And you are completely correct. Make a point everyday, to make someone smile. There are a lot of people that do reaction videos, but to me, You both are the Best. I watch your videos every day! So far my favorite Reaction you have done is The Tom Tom Club Genius Of Love. That was the best dance song of 1981, I believe

The person who introduced Paul Davis was Ricky Nelson. America watched Ricky grow up as he was on a sit-com called "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet". Ozzie Nelson was his father, Harriet was his mother and his older brother, David, was also on the show. It was typical of the era, with the boys usually getting into something. Even though he was older than me by 15 years, through the magic of reruns I watched him grow up, too. So, he was an actor from the age of 8 and started recording when he was around 17. This made a nice story line for the tv show. Of course, it didn't hurt that he was drop-dead gorgeous and had a voice as smooth as honey. One of his first songs was, "Travelin' Man" and I think his last might have been "Garden Party". He did a cover of "I Will Follow You" and his voice was unbelievable. He was killed in a plane crash in 1985.
