Awesome Sign Making with Resin Inlay

I'm doing some sign making with resin inlay. I make lots of signs but I wanted to try something different by making a company logo sign (Harley-Davidson), but rather than laser engraving and simply painting the graphics, I instead chose to use my CNC to route out the sign and fill it with an epoxy resin inlay. This allows me to create a perfect color match for the corporate logo, while creating a sign that is both appealing and durable.

    Great video, nice and layed back, music was perfect as I watched this about an hour of getting out of bed...ahhh nice and soothing as I think about rolling down the highway on the Harley I don't have and looking at the beautiful Harley sign especially on the east coast of Nova Scotia. Ahhh life. Thanks again, quite inspiring actually.

    Well I am on the east coast of NS, but I don't own a Harley. I have made lots of these for people who do though. These signs seem to end up hanging in garages in front of the motorcycles. 🙂

    Looks good! Love Harley! Combined with classical 💜 I agree with you on the white lettering. May seem weird but a simple thing I do to make things pop a little sometimes, is lightly outline the lettering, image, whatever with pencil before clear coat. Either way I'm sure the neighbor will love it! Keep Shining ✨💎

    I enjoy your videos and learn from them as well. It's unusual to hear the classics as a music choice, I really don't like the repetitive creative commons dribble that passes for entertainment while a tool is working or the dreaded white space void in sound might appear. There was no having to mute the sound and use close captioning in this video, thanks!

    First, and most importantly, thanks for posting. I'm new to this stuff and you are an inspiration. Second, I am a huge fan of Bach. I listen to him all of the time. Third, since you asked, I would venture to say that few, if any people visit your channel to hear music. I would prefer to hear you "drone on" a-k-a providing instruction and insight. Heck, I'd rather hear nothing but tool sounds when I'm watching a video from which I am trying to learn. What you have to say is important and can only come from you. I can get Bach (etc) many other places whenever I want. My two cents..... THANKS

    How do you hold the wood to the painters tape on the router? I think I might try a syringe for filling the letters. I’d make a mess with the cup. Nice job. As for music, you’ll never please everyone. The haters can turn down the volume.

  • @SteveMakesEverything

    @SteveMakesEverything

    4 ай бұрын

    If you put tape on you CNC work area and the bottom of you material, you can run a bead of super glue on one side and accelerant on the other and just stick the material to the workspace. When you’re finish, just lift the material off and remove the two pieces of tape that are now glued together. A syringe is a neater way to add the resin but you generally need to come up about the material surface when you pour anyway because resin shrinks as it cures and you want the finished surface to be perfectly smooth

  • @SteveMakesEverything

    @SteveMakesEverything

    The challenge with staining the wood is the amount of sanding involved. Epoxy shrinks as it cures so you might be sanding off an 1/8" of material. I thought about staining the wood after, though I'm not sure what stain would do to epoxy and I didn't try it.
