Award Winning Restoration of a 1972 Triumph TR6

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We restored a 1972 Triumph, a custom request from a friend of mine who wanted to be there during the process and learn what goes into it. I taught him how to clean and maintain the look of the paint as well as what to do during certain situations to help keep the classy showroom look. I was more than happy that he wanted to keep such a level of care and even wanted to be apart of the process to paint it. I was honored and had to let him jump in with us. Sometime after, we took the Triumph to New Hope and won an award because of the work we put into it together. We were both very proud of our work and happy that it got us to that place.

Throughout the video you’ll notice the shop that we record in. It's actually a collision repair center that I own! It’s a family business and we strive to be the best in the world with attention to detail that seem obsessive. That’s how we continue to have business. We love seeing crazy builds, turning dreams into reality and working on more big projects like this that our customers would be proud to show off. In our KZread we also want to show you the lifestyle of the shop as a team and as an owner and what that looks like balancing both and our dreams to grow into a nationally recognized name.

Nice to see a "proper" paint booth with a guy who knows how to use a hand gun. :) I spent decades in the Paint shops of various auto plants as a Controls Engineer and there is a hell of a lot more to it than just slinging paint. :) Some plants, like Nissan and Ford still have a hand gun stations as a last resort. To the best of my knowledge, GM got rid of theirs in the 90s. The thing is that it would take a shift or two (or several) for the operators to get the hang of it so it's questionable whether it's worth the station or not. Beautiful work on the TR6. I have a 72 TR6 that needs a complete restoration. But today it's the 69 Corvair. :)

@@ImJayLyons It's a nice booth. And a lot cleaner than the ones I'm used to. :) No robots though... :)

How much does a paint job like that cost.

It’s relevant to hours spent, and the condition of the car you start with. It generally about $30,000ish.
