Three years ago, standing in my kitchen, and I was peeling carrots, and all there was, was peeling carrots, and nothing else. It was beautiful and very intense and profound enough to leave a memory.

Yesterday, listening to this, it just clicked for me. It was so clear and obvious and amazing that I actually burst out laughing. It was right there in front of me, and I honestly couldn’t believe it. Today, it isn’t exactly gone, but it’s not as clear and obvious as yesterday, and the carrot is back. Thank you for everything, Angelo. You’re not aware of it, but you’re my teacher. I started listening to you and Zdogg, and you have been the voice that has resonated the most through this journey. All your pointers resonate, and it seems that whenever I am, just the right message appears. And even if I’ve listened before, suddenly it clicks and takes on new meaning that made no sense the first time. So again, incredible and much, much appreciated for everything you do. 🙏

The synchrony of this talk is amazing. Started the day with listening to part of a vid of Scott Kiloby talking about his method and that he'd discovered it in part, working on chronic pain he'd had that turned out to be from deeply held anger. I've had very bothersome back pain for months and thought there was something there. I've been working with a physical therapist and that's not been helping.... Then I re-listened to your short "Uncomfortable? (try this)" and went after it a bit. The first thing I came up with was feeling disgusting to others around my normal body functions. I knew that was only partially correct and indeed, it had a lack of traction. Then the first part of this talk, the part about focusing, where you were using subtraction to point to it led me to what seems to be the core. I am terrified of losing control and have been all of my life. My ex-wife actually nicknamed me "Master Of Discipline" for how I run my self-care, diet, exercise, meditation, all that. So that terror extends from control of body functions (imprinted by infant medical trauma) permeating every aspect of life really. It might even be the wall blocking me from jumping or more likely falling off the cliff into Awakening. Work to be done! Or maybe transformation to be allowed... THANK YOU

That’s a powerful deep dive. It often comes down to very simple connections, beliefs, associations that are formed very early in our development so they can be hard to get to. But they are gold mines when we are sone to unhook them ❤️

I can't thank you enough for these videos Angelo. They resonate at so many levels. I remember listening, a long time ago, to a video by U.G. Krishnamurthy (Not J. Krishnamurthy, though they were contemporaries) in which he says the way we see things is not really it. He pointed to a tree in front of him as an example and said something to the effect that if you really looked at that tree as it is, you would be finished. He is the author of the book-'Mind as a myth'. And locking into that spontaneity and moving through life feels like being in a 'Breadcrumb trail'. I have felt that in moments when things just fell into place perfectly and I couldn't have even dreamed of a better way.

As I listened to this talk I realize I spent the majority of my life - in my head I was trained to believe that the highest achievement was to get up unto my head - and stay there . > From as early as the 1960’s, I learned that emotions cause trouble ! And I aspired to be like Star Trek ‘s Dr. Spock bc he was pure mind - the higher being. > I also realize, that the body is the place of troubles & vulnerability/ pain- sickness & death. Of course I want to stay in the tower of my mind & look out like the guys at the airport control towers. 👀 > I realize, I was mostly disconnected from my life - trying to live this way - as a mental abstraction… > And yet, contemporary life, pushes more & more abstraction. How to get around the matrix ? > I’m so delighted to find another person who is exploring these questions. I feel like I can exhale .. I wasn’t even aware I was holding my breath ….🐇 > Thank You Angelo 🧸

Long video. lots of triggers. There are more traumas in the body to integrate than I realised. One familiar one had a new flavor. The fear of not being heard, which is also the fear of having nothing to say. Is itself an overlay of I have no value if no one values me. So Letting the anxiety just be, here is some of my truth (what i know so far ). There is nothing in the body that is not knowable. Our society/cultures and western medicine (sorry doc ;o) train us otherwise. I will preface my next comment with, there is NOTHING more special in one human than another. I feel my internal workings and have had some very unpleasant experiences interacting with doctors. I felt the conception of my sons. I was not believed . But on researching discovered, that the sperm breaking the surface of the egg is like a tiny explosion. I am now fighting my desire to hit the cancel button. and this the second attempt at writing this !

How do you handle intense emotions when you are in a space where they are disruptive? Anxiety attacks while your at work or just overall low energy from feeling burned out while you are in a place you are expected to perform at a level you feel you aren’t at

  • @SimplyAlwaysAwake

First step is put attention into the body sensations and see that the thoughts ABOUT what is happening (I’m not doing good enough etc) are like background experiences compared to the sensation in the body. If you practice this in less triggering situations then it’s far easier to apply it in more triggering environments. Also a simple mantra that can be helpful in those situations is “what they think of here is their business it’s not mine. I won’t get involved in trying to discern others’ views of me.” This can free up a surprising amount of your attention and energy into presence.

Yes, being that internalized and aware, it becomes pretty clear that there isn’t a distinction anywhere where the mind is apart from the body. Even that point of attention that is aware of things seems misplaced since it is operating as one system vs looking in on itself.

Exactly. But as you mentioned if fixating in that way causes imbalance perhaps explore that recognition of no-distance in all sense fields , and allowing flow of attention through all sense gates unhindered. This is why I recommend always working toward that first shift, because before that the hinderance is often unseen but it is felt as a fixating tendency instead a spontaneity and natural flow.

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake The open focus Vs narrow focus, the latter is where the default network can operate hence the dualistic experience. That’s why I never understand why people say to narrow in on something, when all that seems to do is cause more contraction in the system. So soften the attention so that it could broaden and direct itself? That would create less definition and borders, it would seem..no distance..hmm..

Regarding putting full attention into the body; what about people on the spectrum who already are hyperaware of every minute sensation to the point where attention gets stuck there to the exclusion of everything else? I am one such person and I find that since there is an imbalance with the degree of internalization, becoming aware of the external environment is what helps give space for emotion to be felt naturally. Wondered what your thoughts on this are..

  • @SimplyAlwaysAwake

In that case I might recommend (if one is interested in awakening) working on awakening to the I Am sense first. Non-dual sense experience requires all sense gates to clarify and ultimately the tendency to internalize dissipates. That’s later down the road however, before that initial awakening shift these imbalances and polarities will distort natural experiencing of boundless non-dual clarity. Short of waking up, I would say do what works for you. If retraining attention to spend more time in the sound and visual field helps to clarify emotions, then by all means utilize those strategies.

  • @sarahmuschel4812

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake thanks for the detailed response. What exactly is the I Am sense? I hear this often in certain non-dual circles but for someone who feels like a separate self, it tends to get tied up in that and hang out there. My intuitive sense is that you are speaking of something extremely basic (being-ness?), kind of a foundation to the added layers of complexity. Would you be able to clarify what specifically you mean by I am sense and how to access that?

@@sarahmuschel4812 to taste it experientially is one thing, but with awakening , the sense of identity (what you take yourself to be) is permanently altered and that sense (can also be called pure being), but it has no name, is unmistakably always already the case. This is a tremendous relief. So any of the approaches to awakening I describe in the playlists about awakening can work. Also I describe in great detail in my book. Ive seen all of these approaches work many times. To experientially taste the I Am sense, simply rest in what feels like exactly where you are without thinking about it. Just rest back in that. No thought required. However it’s usually short lived before awakening because thoughts will quite rapidly grab your attention , or rather attention is habituated to thoughts. However there is no universal law saying that has to happen, you can rest in that pure sense of Self, and just stop, don’t grab onto thoughts, don’t try to qualify your experience at all, just rest AS the experiencing itself. Nothing more.
