If you would put them in a backet water for 30 min. you could separate very easily.

I have found that rinsing or soaking the root mat under water helps to loosen it up making pulling the plants apart much easier. Not sure if the same helps with arborvitores. But, works for me.

Good tip! I've never tried. I can see how it may help and certainly won't hurt.

Cost to deliver and install 50 8' to 10' green giant shrubs? I just saw a check where a developer paid $22,250 to have them installed at a new house he was building. That is real money.

Good info, but with a bit of shaking & soaking, I’m sure they came apart well. Good looking plants. Question for you. Have you ever potted up Liriope & sold those? I could kick myself now, I dug up & threw away 100 or more last Fall while we cleaned up one perennial bed. I’m digging & potting up more today! Hostas, Lilies of the Valley, & Liriope. 😀

Never tried liriope, but have heard it doesn't survive winter in pots... so there's that to deal with.

Hi I’m 10 weeks away from my last frost date. Does it seem too late to take panicle hydrangea cuttings? Also, would a blue creeping juniper take root…or should I wait into the summer months. I’m learning from ya!

  • @savvydirtfarmer

Definitely not too late… as long as they aren’t leading out yet - and panicles certainly are not - you’re good to go. You’ve got time. Junipers? I’ve only done them in summer, but it’s always worth a try.

Hey, great titles, great root-porn! You got this KZread thing down pat just like your propagation techniques. I'm trying not to MISLABEL my cuttings. AND I'm trying to avoid nipping most of the UNPROTECTED spring flowers in the bud with this warm weather

YES!! Always get your plants labeled correctly! Squirrels will steal your plant tags from time to time so watch out for that.

I've got a green giant hedge screen with about seven together and the one on the end never done good. Anyway it died. It was about 15 tall. Well when I cut it down the one next to it that's doing great and a little taller has a bald spot at the bottom.. Will that grow back? Also it looks like drainage might have been the reason the Green Giant died after I removed the tree and I was able to get a better look.

Poor drainage will do in a green giant faster than anything. Will it grow back? Maybe. I tend to think it will with time, but even if it takes it more than 1 season, don't give up on it. If they're of any size, they're impossible to replace.
