Avoid This Javelin Mistake

Спорт

This is a big mistake in the Javelin Throw. Avoid over rotating! Instead use your body to increase range of motion and length of pull for farther throws.

Nice. This is the sort of non-obvious detail to be able to now identify. The sort of thing where watching a throw and things look mostly right but you know something is just a bit off. Thanks as always!

Finally! the most important tutorial I needed for a long time, this is where I get to be wrong because I'm releasing it very early from the throw

Great to hear! If you’re looking for more technical videos, check out my new online javelin class “Javelin Technique with Coach Halley.” It focused on javelin technique. If you’re interested in free stuff, I have a play list on my KZread channel called “How to throw the javelin.”

Thanks! Appreciate the great info. Keep it coming! Would like to see some more drills on getting a solid straight block leg, getting the kids to be confident to hit a solid plant... Also would like to see you take submitted videos of amateur throwers and critique them like Thomas Roehler does (Throws Breakdown) on his instagram account. As a coach, it would be a very helpful way for me to learn how to correct my throwers.

@@coachhalley Coach, Almost you have covered everything (block, elbow mistakes, left arm, the C position) in your content........ Just one thing which I am struggling is the angle of throw...... I see somewhere around 32-38 degree.... I try to aim but still I loose the tip and I am getting failure....... Would be helpful if you can suggest some drills to improve this ..... Definitely in future I would like to send you videos for analysis on your paid services but as of now there are some gaps like speed n all... I am working on it.

Great video! Is there any chance you could make a video or point me to a video about the mental aspect of javelin? I tend to overthink when I throw and it leads to me throwing worse than I know I can. I would love some tips to help me with this! Thanks!!

Good video on keeping closed and NOT pulling the non-throwing shoulder back. I just watched about 135 HS throwers at the "Southwest Javelin Showcase" in Chandler AZ. I would say about 80% of the kids competing opened up way to soon. Some how these athletes think touch down of the right leg/foot in the impulse stage is the beginning of the delivery phase. That's when they think to start turning the shoulders to get set for the throw. Your video is a good example of keeping the shoulders from turned and to stabilize the left side block with the shoulder...getting a much longer pull. I will pass on this video.
