I completed my Master's degree in 2011 in Adelaide Uni and it was for 18 months only, tried to study another master in UTAS to meet the ASR but got my study visa rejected. I deliberately applied for 2 years Masters because I thought 6 months course will got visa rejection, and even that did not work. It was a big mistake, I can claim no points , thanks for the video AILS!

This is really helpful. Can you confirm that if my course is CRICOS registered 104 weeks, and I got credits, so completed the degree in 3 semesters (18 months) that means I am eligible right?

Hi Karl, does online study for first semester for 2022 for masters degree (2 years) qualify for fulfilling that 92 weeks study requirement? Currently offshore and have applied at a uni in WA but still waiting for their clear confirmation to allow international students onboard.

Online study can be counted towards the ASR if holding a student visa whilst the study is being undertaken for the purposes of being allowed to apply for the 485 visa. Not sure how the department will be flexible on this issue. Thanks for watching

You didn’t mention when that 16 months physically present in Au will start counting. Will it be on your arrival in Au as evidenced by your flight boarding pass? Will the counting end on the course completion date indicated in your confirmation of enrolment given that you still have about a couple of months remaining on your visa after that? This is important for students who came in late to start their courses because of the pandemic or border closures.

There are concessions regarding online offshore studying Mark. In general it will be from when you begin your course.

Please help! My course was from 6/6/22 to 10/12/23. My course is registered for 107 week in cricos but we finished the course in 18 months with vacation in between those 18 months. My agent says i do not meet ASR. Do i meet the australian study requirement?

Hi Karl Is someone has studied Diploma in business in 2016 on a student visa and now completed Certificate IV in Cookery in 2023 on a Bridging Visa A (Federal Court). Study whilst outside Australia will not count towards meeting the Australian study requirement for points at the moment. They would have to change the law to allow that to happen. Thanks for watching

Pls I want to ask. I am a graduate of Political Science. Is it possible for a PhD in Public policy or Policy analysis to lead me to a PR Pathway with Policy Analyst as my career choice? Hi, I have a doubt I'm have a trimester system and got 2 credits exemptions for prior learning. If I take 3 units each trimester I'll have 4 subjects remaining in the 5th Trimester and. If I complete my course by 5th Trimester will I be eligible for TR. My course start in Feb 2022 and 5th Trimester end in July. That should complete the 16 months if I'm not wrong.
