Avoid Low Back Injury by Lifting

In this video, Dr. Todd gets to the FACTS surrounding proper lifting technique. This applies to how you bend over to tie your shoes, how you lift things in your garden or how you lift your kids. Follow these tips and don’t lift like this (the wrong way), instead, understand the “hip hinge” and incorporate that into your technique in order to learn how to avoid injuries while lifting.
This isn’t necessarily a “what to do when you throw your lower back out” video, instead, this is BETTER- it’s what to do to avoid back spasms and severe back pain.
If you are looking to fix your spinal alignment and address your overall health, then you need to fix your posture for good. First, have your abnormal postural distortions identified, and then have a trained professional plan out a corrective strategy that addresses: segment, posture and movement.

Finally a graphic and informative way to show the patients why they hurt their backs ”even” though they bend the legs when picking up stuff.

Good tutorial Dr. Todd! Found your channel through the plaid channel. I injured my back a long time ago doing squat exercises with heavy weight and improper form. I will keep in mind to do lifting with the hip hinge. Congratulations on your success and new subscriber to this channel as well.

My take away from your video is to (ALWAYS) initiate our (HIP HINGE) by (STICKING) our butt (BACKWARDS). Then when getting (UP), drive our (HIP) (FORWARD) while keeping our back straight !!! Thank you Dr Todd for showing us how we cause (MOST) of our back problems from our (OWN) bad habits in our (EVERYDAY) faulty body mechanics and poor posture. SIMPLE & BRILLIANT 🤩🤯👍

The difference between the squat and deadlift is always confusing for me to get the hip hinge right. I wish they would teach these kinds of simple but crucial information in PE and in schools. Super helpful video as always!

yes!!! the squat is a vertical descent and ascent, the deadlift leads with the pelvis driving backwards and the body descends as a result of the primary hip drive.

I also see people squat things without engaging their lats, so they hurt their back anyway
