Awesome video! Love how you go into detail in these trems. I wanted to ask How do you feel about the Music Man Floating bridge?
From what research I've done. The Schaller Lockmeister IS the OFR with a different stamp. Made on the same line by the same people out of the same materials
It's too expensive to manufacture anything in Germany since the US blew up the nordstream pipeline
Best Floyd Rose alternative - Hardtail bridge🎉
Screw Floyd Rose. Bought their Rail Tail and only had problems with the thing. Way to expensive as well. The Gotoh 1996T is everything the Floyd Rose should be for less money as well.
How'd you miss the new Kahler.
Its simple. MiG logo can go because Ping in South-Korea starts to make "Originals".
Now “Made in Germany” stamped Floyd’s will go up in price… Even though there’s a billion of them.
Gotoh is the value. Starts at 148€ from Thomann.
I picked up an IBANEZ FR-Style Tremolo for $54.00 BRAND NEW and all parts were Stainless Steel = EBAY for the WIN
The Gotoh GE1996T is also amazing because the studs are considerably thicker. That distributes energy from its use better around the post, while also allows it to hang onto wood better.
The Gotoh 1996T tremolo is such an awesome tremolo, even the studs are locking. Totally thought through 👍
This is the first guy I have seen on KZread that turns to look and address the side camera like you are supposed to do. I will check out more of your stuff. Who knows, I may subscribe. Excellent work
Very interesting video! Thanks for taking the time to make it, I enjoyed it and it gives me something to consider for my next tremolo bridge.
This is the best explanation, overview and comparison of modern locking tremolos in just a few minutes. Thank you.
Is the FU-tone bridge actually made in America?? They don't claim that on the website and the baseplate and saddles are gotoh style. I would believe assembled in America, or drop shipped from America. ......but made in America? I'm skeptical
Any thoughts on the newly reissued Kahler Steeler double locking trem? I think they're going to be even more pricey, but come with a bunch of neat features. I think they'll be releasing them later this year.
One thing to note with the GE1996T is that the studs and inserts are different in dimension to the OFR/1000/Special/licensed ones; the Gotoh ones are larger and longer. So you either use the original studs and inserts which came with your guitar or you'll need to enlarge & deepen the holes for the Gotoh ones.
Thanks for showing us different options in trems!
Thanks for the info. I recently got a Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder PT-FR and it comes with the "hot rodded" FR Special trem. The only thing different from the Special is that it has stainless steel screws. I was aware of this before I got it and knew that later on, I would need to upgrade it. This video has given me all of the necessary info to do just that.
