Hardstyle has pretty much been taken over by rawstyle and rawstyle is slowly implementing the uptempo kicks. Basically people crave harder stuff every time the mainstream music starts to become boring. I can guarantee that uptempo and terror will become even more popular in the next few years.

Yep. This happened before and will happen again and again. Harder -> harder -> harder -> dead. nobody new likes it. Starts relatively "soft" again. Then harder -> harder -> harder -> dead. repeat.

This is exactly whats gonna happen. Normal hardstyle peaked in 2012 and slowly got displayced by Raw. Raw now kinda peaked around 2016 to 2019. And now its a mess. You cant listen to a set without having a at least 10 minute long uptempo ending. Uptempo will kinda take over. Not gonna say, that that is a bad thing. People like it, otherwise it wouldnt be that big, but it hurts the diversity aspect with more and more DJs getting little to no attention because they dont follow the hype. On the other hand i have the feeling that a lot of people get tired of it. Classic Hardstyle, Raw and Hardcore Events rise in popularity by the year getting more and more Visitors and Albums such as Mad Dogs Downtempo album are labeld as refreshing and are generally welcomed. Maybe the crave for harder stuff will flatline. Who knows.

I saw GPF in Austria last friday. His kicks are so much better on a huge system than on headphones.

My gatekeeping senses are on full alert, pls dont let uptempo become mainstream. Its a beautifully niche genre with just the right amount of inbreeding to keep it insane. I cringe my pants everytime I see "lets go jim" in soundcloud comments, because to those ppl its just another trend.

@@crazy808ish That's exactly what I was cringing about. The idea that outside influences must be negative and that a reasonable way of keeping the genre "pure" is to prevent it from becoming popular. If your favourite producers are implementing sounds you don't like to make their music more popular, it's them you need to politely show your disappointment. If you are mad becuase the people who started to enjoy your niche genre are contributing to changing it then you are free to leave, because although you have the right to share your opinion, you are not entitled to impose it to a majority. Who posted the original comment implied he would consider starting gatekeeping, which I find appaling and useless. No one can crown himself the great keeper of the original orthodoxy of a genre or subculture, and even though I fully respect the right to an opinion, I can't stand people who want to impose their idea going as far as to prevent new people from enjoying a certain genre and its subculture. Most of those who are clearly misinterpreting the subcultre are just posers anyway, which will leave as soon as the trend ends, as it happened before in the hardstyle scene. Moreover I was under the impression that there is a certain desire to be part of a niche community in order to feel somewhat special, which would explain the spasmodic need to prevent anyone from joining it. Every genre is inevitably susceptible to change, and you are free to continue listening to it or not. But to imply that mainstream influences are always bad means that all genres will eventually degenerate, and that's thankfully a subjective opinion. If it were right then I'd suggest you to listen to just the first track of any producer, because the second one might be already too affected by the so called mainstream.

I want the genre to grow and my favourite artists to be more successful the same way I want the style to change over time. If nothing changes it eventually gets boring, if I dont like the new style I listen to something different. It's that easy. My comment was, if anything, directed at the people who just jumped onto the bandwagon and try to push it down everyones throat. But of course there has to be that one guy to play the good samaritan in the yt comments

I remember hearing about GPF for the first time in 2018, with at the time the kicks being absolutely abhorrent for someone like myself who is sensitive to high pitched noises. I loved rawstyle, even the XTRa raw or however you wanna call it, but GPF was something I had never heard before, yet I kept listening... And years later, I really unironically like GPF's stuff, which eventually also evolved into me loving Uptempo and the like, which is really interesting how that journey went lmao

How times change

At dominator this year there was 7 stages: Uptempo, uptempo, mainstage that plays mostly uptempo, some more uptempo stages, terror and classic.

Cryogenic,MBK,Alterated,Barber,Unproven,Lunakorpz,Tharoza,trespassed - all of these music such a brilliant!!!GPF piepkick madness also good as old fashion morning fisting)))))

I love uptempo so much I am someone with more energy than usual. No coffee no nasty tabs just pure energy, uptempo matches that energy and allows me to hakk out all the pent up pressure. Seeing people complain about uptempo doesn’t make me mad, it simply shows me who has low energy to keep up.

Uptempo gives me energy and speedcore, extratone and such drain excessive energy, which is great when I am angry at anything. The really fast genres are just so energetic every excess energy is lost listening to it. It's great, I can balance my mood with music

A few years ago an Hardcore Edit of a Hardstyle Track was always the best ending for a Mix or a liveset for me. Now I always include 1 or 2 Uptempo Tracks and it just works :D

Todays hardstyle is faster and harder than millennium hardcore. I think that's why uptempo emerged; hardcore needed to be harder than hardstyle.

Uptempo is the tempo. But zaag isn't it for me. The only thing it's missing is a thump at the start of the kick. Everything else is there. Also, high pitched zaag over low pitched zaag.
