What is an average time to complete hyrox in? is a question many athletes will ask and
taking a look at the hyrox data to plan your race strategy and tactics can be helpful’ and
today with thanks to the team over at the roxzone podcast, we are looking at the median race times for the UK season so far.
Beginning by looking at the total times for the open and doubles divisions:
We can see a range from just under 1he 16 for the men’s double through to just under 1:34 for the women’s open, whilst average for hyrox races, any one achieving anywhere near this or significantly slower can and should very proud of yourself. Just finishing the race is an incredibly achievement.
Now looking at the total time split across the exercise stations and running, we begin to get good sense of proportion of the race (and potentially our training) that will be spent on these two key components;

If your % split is significant different between these two components of the race, that can be a helpful gauge as to if more running or strength training is what you would benefit from most, if reducing that time is your goal.
Looking at a four of key exercise stations in more details:
The Ski erg station is where we will tend to be at our freshest: And completing this anywhere between the 4 to 5 minutes range is where we see the median time across the divisions. Remember pacing to avoid gassing out here, is important this early in the race.
The sled push tends to be the most demanding station it terms of pure strength: Here two stand out times of note are the women open at 3:01 and the men’s doubles at 1:46. If you are coming from a general fitness background, then our times for this station can be significantly slower to in our initial races.
The burpees broad jumps is where our heart rate will be most spiked: and the men doubles at 2:46 and mixed doubles at 3:09 are two stand out median times for this station.
The Wall balls is where the majority of us will feel most fatigued in the race: and here the women’s doubles time at 3:07 and the men’s doubles at 4:02 are two median times of note.
