Avengers vs X Men: Colossus vs Spiderman

Ойын-сауық

Avengers vs X Men: VS Vol 1 Issue 2.
▸ Spider-Man is paired up with Colossus, who has recently become the new Juggernaut as well. Colossus wants to end the fight quickly out of fear that he might hurt Spider-Man, who responds by webbing up his face. As he fights him, Spider-Man tells Colossus that his fights with Juggernaut typically end with him winning. Though Spider-Man manages to land a few, yet ineffective, blows and webs up his feet, Colossus claps his hands, producing a wave that knocks Spider-Man to the ground.

While that ending was a cop out, those last 3 panels are very funny. "I'm never gonna back down cause I'm a-" "Spidey we can leave" "Oh thank god, I was bluffing so hard. I was gonna die for sure!"😂

From what i can remember from reading numerous decades of spidey stories, is that the joke cracking was a fear triggered reaction, to hide the fact he was afraid, and he noticed it also had the effect of pissing off the majority of his foes, causing them to make mistakes. 😎 So over time, as he conquered his fear.... he also honed his humour. Directed sarcasm, insults, and dad jokes. Can be as cutting as a vibranium energy sword. 😁

I remember being so shocked when Colossus won this fight when AvX was going on. Not because I didn't think Colossus was strong enough but because the writing was so bias in the Avengers favor during this period in the story. They didn't even let Colossus get the KO win either. Still I really liked the Unstoppable Colossus even if it didn't last long. He was overdue for such a cool powerup.

I completely agree. Unstoppable Colossus was a really cool addition though I still like Juggernaut as well. And you are 100% correct. The writers were bias and wanted the Avengers to win. Toni Stark tempering with Emma’s telepathy with “nano technology” was a BS excuse they pulled out of their ass. Emma would have finished the entire battle with just one thought forcing the Avengers into a state of coma.

As someone who's 2 most favorite Marvel characters are Spidey and Colossus, I didn't mind the no K.O win as long as Colossus won just because the only way Spidey was gonna win this fight is if he trick Piotr into walking in some wet cement haha. But yeah I also like the Juggernaut power-up for Colossus too mostly because those 2 have fought so many times with Cain winning most of them that the change seemed poetic in a way. But yeah my boy Colossus is overdue for a permanent power-up/evolution of some kind to his powers.

I always took Spidey’s wisecracks not to belittle his opponents and get under their skin, but (primarily) to keep things lighthearted so he doesn’t lose his own nerve. Parker is an anxious guy who uses comedy as a shield. My interpretation, anyways.

My main issue with the Unstoppable Colossus is that they didn’t give him strength boost way beyond Hulk level strength. If the Gem of Cyttorak gave Cain Marlo Hulk level strength and Colossus already has near Hulk level strength, then the merger of the two should have elevated his strength immensely. It’s why I was upset when he fought the Thing that they were basically equals

I look at Spiderman cracking jokes and making fun of his opponents as a result of Peter's upbringing. He was raised to be polite and "nice", but also had the unfortunate combination of being highly intelligent and physically weak. Peter is quick-witted, observant, and empathetic which would give him a good sense of humor. He's probably always had that clever commentary running in his head, but never had the physical or social leverage to let it out. When he became Spiderman, he suddenly had anonymity, and the freedom to mock the Flash Thompsons and Rhinos in his life. :)

Spidey definitely has the skills to _not lose_ to Jugger-Colossus. If there were no other stakes he could easily evade him long enough to create a diversion and slip away unnoticed. But he has an objective here, which forces him to cover for Daredevil and keeps him in the fight, making him vulnerable. And if he's forced to stay in the fight, eventually Colossus _will_ wear him down.

  • @kal.asther

Running away = losing. Stalling is not about winning the fight, but winning the greater battle. We all know too well if PIS is not around spiderman has absolutely zero chance of winning outside of using PIS items to win. Juggernaut is god tier or beyond levels of power. For a spider to survive that kind of power in milliseconds is just PIS.

  • @SKy_the_Thunder

    @SKy_the_Thunder

    6 ай бұрын

@@kal.asther Depends on what exactly your objectives are. If you just want Colossus out of some area, luring him away and then losing him would count as a victory. But I explicitly worded it as "not losing" as in "not getting beaten to a pulp". Yeah, aside from outside help or _a lot_ of setup, Spider-Man has no realistic chances to actually win - but much like he pulls his punches against regular criminals, Colossus still has enough control to hold back against him. He technically _has_ the power to end this quickly, but the opponent's mental state plays just as much of a role as their abilities. And Piotr is a gentle giant at heart, who tries to avoid unnecessary violence - especially against someone he recognizes as a fellow hero, despite how misguided they may seem to him in that moment. So he wouldn't go all out from the start.

No offense, love your channel, but didnt you cover all of this already, Rob? What happened to the Jonathon Kent in the Injustice universe story? Also, check out the Witching Hour Wonder Woman story! It's bonkers, I would love for you to cover it sometime. Peace.

7:54 I would love to see the rage aspect of The Crimson Gem used a bit more. Juggernaut’s run was pretty good. It would be cool to see Dr. Strange pull Juggernaut & and few other character for an adventure meant to expand on the lore.

We are told Spidey wears the mask so villains dont see how scared he is, I think that’s part of why the wisecracks, he’s terrified.

Colossus is my favorite childhood character & Juggernaut was the ultimate villian. In the comics vs the X-Men by far my favorite comics were Juggernaut vs X-Men. Colossus Juggernaut power would is wild looks really cool. Poor Spidey never stood a chance regular Juggernaut would eat his lunch. A 3times power Spidey could only hope to survive or distract him from his goal. That's pretty all the entire X-Men team could do distract & survive. My favorite cover is Juggernaut standing on a pile of X-Men holding Colossus up by his throat.
