He saw many possibilities. The only one that worked was the one where Quill "screwed up". So one could argue that without him doing that, they would've been wiped out. I'm sure in those possible futures he saw Quill do what he did and they could've planned ahead to keep him restrained, but chose not to because it needed to happen. So if he didn't do that, they'd all likely be screwed.

The space stone holds those rocks but does it also direct those things or was Thanos pulling them with his left hand? If it was the stone then he shouldn't have that "struggling" look on his face because they're "Infinity" stones If he's pulling all those rocks by himself with his left hand then he's STRONG AF DUDE (Someone pls get this to New Rockstars or the Canadian Lad please take the credit too I don't care I just need the question answered)

@@PR-bv4vm Think that using the stones is still pretty much a matter of strength. The Power Stone enabled him to burst out some parts of the moon and the Space Stone opened up a portal for them to reappear in a closer vicinity. But he still had to use his own strength at least to some level in order to throw the pieces at Stark. So I kinda imagine that you still need a shit-ton of strength yourself in order to use the stones in a paticular way. For instance, I highly doubt that Stark, even though he snapped himself, could have done something like Thanos did with the moon. For even with his most advanced suit, he simply doesn't have the same strength as the Mad Titan himself.

This scene is so well done. The fact Mantis could make a celestial go to sleep in Gotg volume 2 but not Thanos speaks volumes about Thanos's will power. The desperate way RDJ delivers the line "Dont engage we almost got this off!" is honestly perfection. When Peter finds out what Thanos did, I like that he just called him an A-hole instead of some over dramatic movie line and the hurt way he sounds when he said " No you didnt" sounded so real. When he starts hitting Thanos and Drax yells his name it really hit different for me with Drax being a more comical character and the fact he made the same mistake on Nowhere. The fact the last time Quill saw Gamora he was trying to conjure up the strength to shoot her really makes this scene so sad. Thanos just throwing Mantis also really hits me because with her being a more innocent almost child like character, seeing her just get brutalized really shows Thanos is not playing games. And the music is perfect when Quill srews up you can feel all the emotions at once. Truly a phenomenal scene not just for the MCU and comic book films, but for films in general.

One really developed a feeling for the characters, their individual development, the sacrifices, the losses. You not just watched it to "consume product" you felt it. It all ended with endgame. And the only marvel movie i ever since watched was gog3. As i needed a conclusion to their story arc. And i wasn´t disappointed in the slightest. RIP MCU. Take your deserved time till someone comes, someone with a vision that creates a story arc that makes us once again feel the movies and not just chase the formula of "consume product, get excited for new product".

Quill fucked up his own plan by punching Thanos. If any one of these hadn't happened, they'd have likely won.

Reasons everything isn’t all Quill’s fault: • Tony or Peter could have blasted Quill just enough to disable him until they got the gauntlet off. • Nebula was just standing there, she could either have tried to stop Quill or talked to him - I understand she was shocked and grieving too, but that’s all the more reason she could have helped. • Just because they got the gauntlet from Thanos, he wouldn’t have suddenly been helpless. Mantis said she couldn’t restrain him much longer, meaning he would have broken free of her control anyway - and Thanos is still a huge threat to everyone there even without the gauntlet. Also - think about the position Quill is in here. He has lost almost everyone who mattered the most to him; his mother died, he discovered his father was insane and had to kill him, he lost his actual father figure Yondu, and the one thing he had left was Gamora, the love of his life. Yes, Drax, Groot and Rocket are his friends, but it’s of course not the same, and their friendship could be pretty turbulent a lot of the time. Gamora was the most important person in his life, and he now discovers despite all his efforts and determination, she was killed. Taken away from him dying in fear and pain, and he never even got to say goodbye. And now her killer, her own father, was right in front of him - restrained and helpless. Then, when Quill is still processing the possibility that she’s dead and not fully accepting it, Thanos not only confirms it but justifies himself. Now, I don’t know about any of you, but in his place I would have absolutely lost my shit too, and I think Quill actually shows restraint by merely smacking Thanos with his blaster. He could have channelled his grief into attempting to blow the Titan’s face off, or done something like gauging his eyes out. Additionally, no one blames Quill for what he did, and you can see this through Tony - Tony knows how Quill feels, after he himself experienced such wrathful grief in Civil War. That’s why it’s he who desperately tells Quill to calm down, which if course wasn’t helpful, but he doesn’t know how he would convince himself in Quill’s place. I say it’s for the best that Quill died in the snap, he’d probably have sunk into a worse depression than Thor did.

Yes, even if they had gotten the gauntlet from Thanos (which is probably one of the realities that Doctor Strange saw), Thanos still likely would have killed all of them through brute force immediately after. Maybe but Thanos is still just a man without the gauntlet - albeit a very strong one. He has physical strength, while everyone there has some sort of rapid mobility, minus Drax and Mantis. Stark could've flown off with the gauntlet, or given it to Dr. Strange so it could be portal'd out, then everyone could've GTFO. He didn't have any of his equipment with him - just his undergarments to his armor. If they would've taken it from him and stayed out of his grasp, all would've been fine.

It’s clearly shown that Scarlet Witch took her powers in MoM during the fight. Her armor burns off and her powers fade away. By the time she hits the ground she’s just a normal human who gets easily crushed by the statue. Not that hard to use your brain.

@@comiccinema8177 Yknow I didnt think I'd come across anyone trying to legitimately defend MoM given how awful that movie is as a whole, but I guess thered be a few people who would. Since when does Scarlet Witch have the power to take away other people's powers? That was never established in any previous movie, and in Wandavision she had to establish roots to neutralize Agatha, and she was a witch. If what youre saying is true, she essentially just pulls this power out of her ass in order to kill her, no setup for it, which removes a lot of stakes. Even if she did remove all of Captain Marvels powers, then the original blast, followed by her slamming into the top of the statue before falling all the way down to the ground would have killed her before the statue falling on her would, but she's somehow alive? Makes no sense bro. This isn't even one of the bigger problems of the movie, MoM is drenched in massive problems.

I think the whole point of the moon thing was to cow them into thinking his power was completely overwhelming and giving up the time stone. If you watch all the fight scenes in Infinity War, Thanos is relatively gentle with them, like when he casually clocks Steve and T'Challa when he could have melted their skin off or teleported them into space. He clearly held back, rarely going for anything more than disabling attacks, much for the same reason he takes off his armor in the beginning....to show that he was so powerful, he didn't HAVE to kill them. The most all-out that he went was probably against Dr. Strange, literally throwing a black hole at him, which was also the only fight he used the Soul Stone.

That’s his failure but it’s really understandable. His lover died and it’s thanos himself who killed her. It’s hard to delete your feeling in a situation even more when it’s about someone you really love. That’s why nobody in the movie told him that was his fault. They know he made this mistake but they understand him.

Also if we are to assume that doctor strange was right and that this was the only outcome where they eventually win, then there's other outcomes where they get the gauntlet off without Peter messing it up and they still ultimately lose in the end anyway.

It wasn't wiped out because of him. He absolutely did fuck up, but he was not the only one. Lots of other characters made similar mistakes. Gamora could have let Nebula die, she could have avoided going to Knowhere altogether. Nebula could have told him in a less intense moment etc. It's interesting how people think they would have won if not for him, but then when Dr Strange literally gives up the time stone after, it suddenly becomes all part of the long game to victory again. Wouldn't Quill punching Thanos also be a part of that?

As good as this storyline was this scene contained the most plotholes. As soon as you bring Thanos down to that level of vulnerability, things stop making sense. They probably could’ve had a ‘close to victory’ moment that Quill bungles without having the chance to actually kill Thanos and fixating over the gauntlet instead

On the contrary, cutting the arm off still worked in Endgame, so leaving Thanos alive to punish him would have worked fine.

Fun Fact: if they got it off, they would have lost. Taking the gauntlet off wasn't that one in a 14 million chance of victory. Peter snapping is exactly what led to their eventual victory five years later. Notice how Dr. Strange didn't try and stop Peter when he was angry, this tells me he knew it had to happen. Such a great detail.
