i cannot express the love and fascination i have for this movie. it was a true work of art and i am beyond excited for the sequels.
I find it amazing how a director is able to sit down and wright a script that big.
The CGI is still genius.
my dream is to become one of those top class artist who can animate such powerful things..

+Nigel S. for myself, while the movie looks pretty and advanced the technical standards of vfx (even if i think that almost everything in the film could have been done with practical effects without much issues), the story itself we have seen it before and with a better excecution, even the man vs nature theme approach feels very preachy, which for me makes it, all style, no substance

Not only are they making the 2nd. and 3rd. movies simultaneously, the first one was so groundbreaking and beyond the established limits of computer graphics, it took over 9 years, from 1st. draft of the script, after he had made, "Titanic," for technology to catch up to his vision. The original, "Star Wars, a New Hope," was the highest grossing movie of all time, all the way up to Jim Cameron's, "Titanic," bumped it down to #2. "Avatar," is what Jim Cameron chose to spend all that money on. Because it bumped, "Titanic," down to the #2 spot, I would say that was a good investment on his part. But, for all the time and money he invested, there were still a few, "uncanny valley," moments. Because, "Rogue One," has helped pave the way even further past that uncanny valley, Avatar 2 & 3 are probably on track to surpass the first one technologically. Even If that takes 15 years, it's most likely going to be worth the wait! 👍
Cameron makes magic and pushing the envelope

It's such a great movie
I completely agree with you concerning the story but I do own a blu-ray 3D avatar movie and I watch it in my 3D smart TV and then I`m amazed by this experience and I realise why this film was such a huge success. An experience you cannot forget
when someones incredibly good at science and universe we call him Einstein. while when it comes to writing such a story and making such an unbelievable film, its called james cameron.
This movie is truly amazing!

My favorite movie ever!!! Can’t wait for another 3
Actually, there language was made up completely for the movie. James Cameron hired a linguist to compose an entire language that has over 1,000 words!
Only Jim Cameron can make such an epic, ground-breaking movie that becomes so loved and praised - purely to push technology to make the real one he wants. He wanted to start on this in 1995 but he thought he would make a quick, medium budget movie about the Titanic until the tech had caught up. It aint often a Jim Cameron film is made but when one is the world certainly knows it.
I didn't think how hard it was when making such an interesting film, but now I'm really love that. wonderful ....
I do not watch movies that I know the ending - like Titanic or Gibsons Jesus movie. My father was a Native American and I have read for over 10 years to understand the plight of Americas first people - and all I read for so many years was the same, the Indians lost. The coming attractions drove me to see Avatar and miracle of miracles the Indigenous people WON - Great. To see how it was produced was a movie in itself - Thans James Cameron, your art is overwhelming the only thing I can say is a God Father 2 type follow up would be a wonderful adition to this story of a people fighting to preserve their way of life - a love story - movie of epic proportions. James is "the king of the world" - his art is art.

Its wordy but the statement "In the reality of many reality's , How we "see" what we see, Effects the quality of our reality,, comes to mind.. The films story flips things in the mirror , We become the "aliens" invading there world , Jake as wounded warrior himself humbly Asks Neytiri for her help not the other way around ,, there is deep recognition internally upon many layers of Earths first peoples and there source knowledge , but its not just in appearance, there are underlying non spoken examples of recognition that many people remark upon as being lost, then rediscovered after there experience with the symbology of the films story examples, its a film that changed my life and a work of art that will likely evolve through the sequels as James Cameron has learned much since the release of the original film including talking to a number of Elders in the First peoples nations in the words of lightstorm relations director the importance of being Authentic were drilled upon over and over , Avatar's producer Jon landau has an example on youtube on roots and intensions of there work " Producer of Avatar and Titanic: the power of storytelling cannot be taken lightly " thank you
omg I didnt fucking know how much effort it takes to do such a movie

Savvy Jones if this is the same guy who did the effects in Braindead, i'd say TRUE!
1. im watching the movie right now,2. the guy who plays tsu,tey has the same birthday as me.
I totally loved the movie because of the visual effects but I don't think I would watch it again unless it was on big screen. The story doesn't have much substance. Good vs evil, good knows better and has a better connection to supernatural forces, good protects what we currently think needs protecting (right now - the environment), good wins, everything changes. Yes, it was a very successful movie. And to make it this successful you have to make a movie that is easy to watch. Worked for me. :)
Very good story, its only "Dances with Wolves" or "The Last Samurai" with pretty plants. But hey, Jim is laughing all the way to the bank so good for him i guess.
What is the envelope and why is it pushing harder??
You can find flaws with any film and Jim's films has their flaws but the film industry is a constant, never ending race of talent and expertise. If you make the best film ever there is always others snapping at your heels waiting to do the same if not better for less money. But in terms of the art of film production itself you always need that respected General at the head to lead the best troops into battle that have faith in that General. When Jim is General you know your on the winning side.
nice movie
The story is just Americans VS Native Americans but then on another planet ... The special effects and the drama where breath taking tho.

@sclogse1

No it's not. That pattern of thinking is a dead end before it starts. And photorealism isn't everything. The first King Kong stands tall still for it's weaving of many elements, but especially storytelling. For an example of very early cinematic writing, check out Joseph Conrad's The Secret Agent. Real early. The reader, or audience has to participate and bring something of themselves to the experience, and then you can have an artistic masterpiece. So it's more about the psychic immersion that the whole experience offers, than just tweaking some of those slippery dog creatures snarling around the hero at night to make them look less synthetic. (a little fur could have gone a long way)
Random guy in 2009 : Jim, no body broke titanic box office records since 1997.... Jim Cameron : Hold my Avatar.... Marvel in 2019 : Hold my Endgame.... Jim Cameron : Hold my Avatar sequels 2,3,4&5....
In Respect The Ability of Avatar's storyline to hold up the mirror , and cause people to "internally" reflect upon our deep core aspects of the "reality" of our own "real" world history past and present , as well as root aspects at the heart of our peoples "Ethos" are quite amazing and often go unrecognized ,, In truth there have been a number of very "real world" issues where Avatar's symbolism has been documented In having a profound impact upon many peoples lives, ask survival international what happened when the film was released during there campaign to try raise awareness and help The Dongria Kondh people of india who's story held mirrored issues with that the Na'vi faced in the film, before the films release the global response was slow , but in the weeks after the films release the response spiked off the chart .... simply watch "The real Avatar 2: strength in numbers , but in truth the impact ran around our world through many deep common roots ..

Was just saying in speaking and sharing with many people around the world that the film and its symbolism applies to many global humanitarian issues past and present, but it goes deeper ,, "Look up Post Avatar Depression Phenomenon - Another Perspective" but in documented honesty these story's come from many locations from around our world not just the united states and touch on in some cases personal story's that where people are able core touch upon the roots of there own multi-generational internal Ethos issues at the heart of injustices in past and present history, Films like Avatar and District 9 use examples that reflect back on real word aspects Cameron himself has said its a "mirror story film" sourced from real cultural backgrounds of earths native peoples and there struggles with the "Younger brother" for an interesting bit of history ,, " Hiawatha - I: The Great Law of Peace - Extra History" parts 1 and 2 .. what nation is Jigonsaseh from her head band is a hint...
