Seems to me that the features of this spray painter is on the same order as your garden hose spray attachment. Remember to add like a tablespoon of water per gallon of latex paint before you stir it up, then take a cup of paint and test it by dropping the paint into a regular funnel and watch to see if it comes out of the other end of the funnel smoothly and a consistent flow of paint then you are ready. Also watch stirring the paint you don't whip and create bubbles in the paint or it will cause the spray gun to leave spots with no paint on the surface you are painting. There's a video on that too.

BUT, when you're not pulling the trigger to allow paint to exit, is air suppose to come out of the spray gun nozzle? I was in a confined area in my basement, and when NOT pulling the trigger I found that the gun was still spraying air, which at times it blew some debris up and blew all types of dust and crap around my work. Is this working properly? Thanks Paul

I was going to get the Wagner Flexio 3500, but having seen this I'm not so sure. For the moment, I have about 70' of fence to paint, and I figured from viewing this that I could use the larger sprayer to quickly apply the solid finish I bought from Lowes. I know you say that the larger nozzle doesn't need to have the paint diluted, but this stuff from Lowes is so thick that it barely comes out of the viscosity tester. Would that be the way to go about the job, or should I dilute it by ten percent and go with the finer spray? I guess the one thing in favor of the Wagner is that you're only lugging around the handheld unit, whereas the Avanti requires taking the vacuum unit along as you're painting a fence.

  • @MrWatchOutNow

For a fence I would rather use an airless sprayer. Harbor freight has the Bauer handheld paint sprayer that’s just like the Graco. Or save the money and just roll it followed by brushing the cracks, that would be a smoother option with zero hiccups

Hey Victor!! Awesome video man! You’re a natural! I have a chemical question. I’d like to spray a polyurethane paint (Rustol Topside Marine Coating). I tried it with a Sears airless sprayer my dad had from the early 80s. It actually did ok but some spots it began to spit and forced me to sand and try again. But the rest of it came out almost mirror reflection and now I’m determined to get the entire boat painted this way. It’s on a fully primed by tipped and rolled primer same brand and category on a 20ft fiberglass boat. If you think this avanti will potentially push the chemical I’m gonna try it! It says if it is sprayed it must be thinned with 5% acetone. The paint is pretty popular for budget conscious DIYers. I’m thinking the fine tip attachment and half trigger maybe? Or 3/4? I’m only painting the sides which is 30” by 20’ x 2 and the back. I wanted to spray the bottom front and just fade it towards the back. Anyway thanks again for your videos and I’ve sub’d for sure. Please let me know your thoughts on the Avanti Poly merger plan. ~G

I am confident that it will spray out fine with the fine finish gun. I used to spray out a two-part polyurethane out of the Chicago brand that harbor freight sells and it worked just fine. I would suggest also buy a lacquer thinner and do a little test run spraying it with lacquer thinner instead of acetone. In my experience the acetone tends to be pretty strong and leaves the paint runny.

Holy cow, I usually spray with my Graco 495 high boy. I have on smaller projects outside used my Krause and Becker from Harbor Freight. The problem is just that those sprayers have a much smaller piston working overtime on thick paint. If you don’t have too much square footage to cover then the Krause and Becker will be fine.

I’ve never used it so I genuinely couldn’t tell you. The Graco Magnum x5 is similar to the Krause and Becker and I have used that. Again that one is gonna get the job done but the piston will be working overtime. Just take your time and let the machine rest once in a while. I hope that helps.

You’ll have to thin it out a bit. If you use the gun with the big tip it’ll waste more paint, but if you use the the one with the small tip and thin it out then you’ll get an even spray. Just depends on how thick your paint is. Also don’t spray when it’s too hot outside because the paint won’t have as much time to relax and smooth out. Remember to always practice on something else first to get your mix right. What paint are you using?

Victor, I absolutely love my Avanti AV-200. I have two of them. I love them better than the expensive Apollo I bought (because the gun was terrible). I mostly stain decks. However, my biggest complaint has been that Avanti doesn't sell parts such as the hose, which is the reason I bought the second machine. Right now I also dealing with the check valve clogging. Not sure if I can fabricate another check valve in its place. Other than parts, it's the best HVLP I have ever used for the work I do!! Feel free to offer any info on my issues. Thx

For the check valve I would have to say clean thoroughly, I stick to slow fluid motions while spraying. When I spray with my 2 part chemicals I have to clean in between each time I refill the cups, that’s probably why I don’t have any problems. Get a basic cleaning kit and a squirt bottle that you keep full of what you use to clean and just clean the check valve every time. I’m not sure what else I can tell you honestly but I hope this helps.

Close in on the parts placed on a table against a Cyc to isolate the back ground, and do that magic with your hands in tandem with your voice over.
