Very good explanation on why you can water those particular plants a lot in the beginning...til they grow out their root system properly. Well stated.

Thank you for this video! How often would you water with compost tea during this very young stage?

How do you amend the soil to get proper drainage for the fine roots that spread out? I did a three foot hole 50% your soil and 50% native, shade cloth of over the top and behind so it got morning sun until probably noon, watered every other day and it is dying I believe maybe from root rot.

I see you have a wisteria. My late father gave me one about 20 years ago, and I can seem to get rid of it. Its a freaking weed and so invasive in my SoCal area.

I would highly suggest Reed as number one. Jan Boyce as 2, and lamb hass as 3. Zutano and bacon are the watery kind. I'm not positive but I think mexicola you can eat the leaves. But check. Avocados have toxins in the leaves if not the correct type.

I just bought a Mexicola Stuart today from Home Depot! Anyone know this variety any advise or what it taste like. All I know is it’s cold hardy. Lol

@@brandasar7913 Mexicola are similar to a Hass in flavor but smaller and have a smoother dark skin. Key thing for an avocado is to much heavily around the tree. the feeder roots are in the top 6 inches or so of soil and the mulch helps protect them from weather extremes.

What's Growing On in So CA we get 100 during the summer up to 113 last summer. And we got down to 29 this past month a few nights. But mid 30s it's the normal low for us.

A mature avocado tree is big, I don't know why it was placed so close to the wall.

Everyone says this, but here in Phoenix you need to plant close to walls. Check out jake mace video he did with shamus. They showcased a mature avocado and mango tree, over 30 years old both over 40 ft. They were planted 3 ft away from the wall.
