Want to grow avacado and mango in the desert? Follow these 3 simple rules for success!
Everybody wants to jump straight to the fun plants, but you must build a microclimate for them, which takes several years. Start with full sun and canopy trees. Then you need medium sized trees and shrubs. Then you can add the fun stuff. But first you need humidity!

Love this man! Absolutely the inspiration for my yard. Good people and great gardeners
Thanks! Are you concerned about water evaporating when irrigating during the heat of the day? I wish that 5 years ago, I had known to plant the hardiest trees on the western side of my yard. Now I recommend to other people to do that and not make the same mistakes I made. But I have found ways to shade my westernmost facing vulnerable tree. Fig trees do great in full sun. Mine should have been planted on the west side of the yard rather than the east.

I want it to evaporate. It cools the plant all day
We can see your bowling balls Jay. Your trees are thriving without mulch. Bravo!!!

Great vid!
Jay everything looking great my yard is also looking great
I'm looking at Tamarillos! Thanks for this sir :-)
Hi Jay Everything in your yard looks fabulous! I’ve seen a previous video or yours recommending to water in the afternoon. I live in Las Vegas and we have a “no watering” restriction during the time that you recommended to water the plants. Any suggestions or other recommendations for watering where states have these type of restrictions
Where can we get some of your trees and soil?
I don't think I "choose" to water in the evening or in the morning. A. there's less evaporation if I'm not watering at high noon, and B. I work during the day away from home. Plus, being in the desert where fresh water is getting scarcer, how can that kind of watering be justified?
how much water do you use a day to water all these? I see that you are doing drip so it's very efficient.
